same on the early august submission. It's also sad that i have to keep checking the site to see "no decision" every time, instead of passively waiting for an email that doesn't come, haha. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

yeah i remember i called awhile back and they said it literally means they haven't read my app/reviewed it. Not sure how true this is though...

+1

Good luck to everyone waiting on their decisions!

For those who have been accepted, is there any interest in a FB page for DUCOM Class of 2015? I was thinking of putting one together.
I'll join!! I'm coming!! 😀

To those who have interviewed already - was there a lot of outdoors walking? I'm from California, and I'm not really sure whether I should bring boots to the interview...I actually don't even own boots - are they required/strongly recommended for snowy weather? This is a somewhat ridiculous question, I know, but I'd appreciate any advice regarding snow and snow gear xD

Um..... There hasn't been snow here in the northeast yet. We usually get the bulk of our snow in Jan/Feb/Marc. Don't bring boots just bring an overcoat with the suit cause it's December and its consistenly in the 30's during the day and 20's during the night.

Oh - sorry I forgot to mention it, but my interview is actually in mid-January!

Even in January the chance of snow is low.

yeah, there shouldn't be enough snow that you would need boots. just look at the forecast the week before you go and you'll see if significant snow is predicted. definitely bring a warm coat though that you can wear over your suit. and perhaps gloves and a scarf would be also helpful.

The medical school is just one building, so as far as the tour, slide show, and student interviews go you will never need to go outside. Your faculty interview may also be in the same building or it may be downtown at the hospital, in which case you would take the shuttle which picks you up right outside the medical school and drops you off right around the corner from Hahnemann. So I wouldn't be too concerned with snow gear for interview day.

Winter in the northeast can be snowy any time. I don't know where people are getting this "chance of snow is low" stuff. The first big snowfall in Philly last year was around this time. Watch the weather forecasts and you'll know if you need boots at least a couple days before hand.

Seriously. The metropolitan northeast has been lucky that the snow storms keep missing us, because the rest of PA and NY has been getting hammered all month. Philly and New York City were supposed to get snow this weekend but the system got pushed further north and east.

lol thanks - I guess it IS too early to be asking about the weather a month beforehand xD. I had thought that it started snowing in the East Coast in December, with the snow lasting through April, but I guess that's an incorrect/vague generalization that I've picked up from movies. I've also just realized that if it DID snow all the time in the East Coast starting early December, then there wouldn't be the song "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas"...😀

Thanks! It's good to know that most of the day takes place indoors - especially since at another interview, I ended up having to walk across campus in fairly interesting weather conditions (being pelted with hail, etc.)

Thanks for all the responses, everyone! 😀

Also can I ask you guys something????

Is it better to have no decision made yet then hold status??

A few of my classmates got put on hold at Drexel but I have yet to hear a peep from them. I've been complete for a while now. At least since september but prob. before.

Does it mean they haven't gotten to my app yet or that I am still under consideration? Just curious.

Hey Guju, as I recalled, your MCATs were submitted later and you were complete in late September? If so, you might be getting a status change soon. I was complete second week of September and was placed on hold last week.

I was also complete in late September, and still have "no decision". Hopefully it changes soon.

interview invite! complete mid september

tl;dr

if you haven't already, check your status on the site. i was invited to interview online, set up the interview, THEN got the email 2 weeks later. just a heads up.

Hey guys, sorry if this question is a repeat of previous threads.

I was completed in early september and just checked my status and saw the following message: "Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision." I was wondering if people that have received this message ever ended up getting an interview. Thanks!

Has anyone who has "Final Decision" status received a decision recently? My status changed last Friday... should I anticipate receiving a decision in the mail in the next day or two, or will I have to wait the full 10 days they say it could take?

ACCEPTED! Got the letter today (dated 12/15)! I'm still under review for MD/PhD, but it feels so good to have an acceptance before Christmas! 😀

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear back!

Congratulations, BostonFan!!! What a great Christmas present 🙂 When did you interview?

Does anyone know if the admissions committee is meeting next week? I'd call the office and ask but they are always short with me so I would rather not.

Thanks ali! I interviewed on 11/18.

Congrats!!

I interviewed that day too, but my status still hasn't changed yet (it still says to wait 6-8 weeks). Does that mean my interviewer hasn't submitted their evaluation yet or is this bad news?:scared:

I thought we had a cool bunch on the 18th, so glad you got in. Drexel was my best experience so far in this cycle so I'm hoping things work out.

Accepted today! (letter dated 12/20)

Interviewed the first week of November

The window on the envelope was a nice touch - I could see I was accepted without opening it 🙂

Good luck to those still waiting!

This process seems quite random. While I have been fortunate at Drexel, I stil have no heard from many schools where I was complete in August...

For those of you who have traveled to interviews by planes this cycle, how did you carry your suit with you? I have a luggage-type garment bag with which I'm planning on using to hold my suit and shoes. It most definitely exceeds the 50 linear inch all dimension limit for carry-on luggage with most carriers. I've seen people carry garment bags on before but that was a few years ago when I last flew.

I'd hate to have to check it in as you never know what's going to happen to it and my interview would be the day after my flight. What did you guys do? I'm flying Frontier to Philly. I don't care about the return flight.

Here's what I've come up with over many interviews in the past few months. I'm making this way longer/detailed than it needs to be, because I know personally I was not too bright when it came to this kind of thing and would have appreciated someone doing the same for me at the beginning of the interview season.

First, don't check anything, since checking bags is paying needless money for the privilege of playing the odds of not having your suit on interview day. Use a rolling suitcase with a built in garment bag that fits within the carry on dimensions. Highly recommended example of what I'm talking about. It's not the cheapest, but I needed a max-carryon-size rolling bag anyway since checked baggage fees aren't going to ever go away.

Put your suit on the hanger that comes with the built in garment bag and then put a dry cleaning bag around it (one of those clear plastic bags that your clothes come back from the dry cleaner in). I read somewhere that this reduces friction between your clothes and the garment bag and thus reduces wrinkles, and while I haven't tried packing without this step myself, it makes sense.

Personally I have to awkwardly fold up my suit (kinda scrunch in the sleeves/sides) to fit it into the garment bag for that suitcase. The ladies (or shorter/smaller guys) might have better luck in this department. Don't worry about it too much though. Take some care, but accept the fact that you're going to have to fold it in a way you probably don't like to make it fit.

Procrastinate packing up your suit as long as possible (don't pack days ahead and leave it sitting in the awkwardly small, wrinkle inducing garment bag longer than you need to). Once you get to your hotel immediately unpack the suit, put it on a real hanger (actually, the jacket on one hanger and the pants on another, hung from one of the hangers with two clips), and hang it up in the bathroom somewhere safe, where it won't fall into the tub/sink/toilet/whatever. Turn on the hot shower and close the door. Leave it be for a while, and 95% of the wrinkles will magically be gone.

This will result in a suit which is less wrinkled than that of the average person you see on the interview trail. If you're really OCD, buy one of these. They're only $20 and if you're using a suitcase similar to the one I recommended you'll have no problem fitting it in there with the rest of your stuff. After doing the bathroom steaming thing let the suit hang in the closet for an hour or two and then spend 10 minutes going over the remaining wrinkles with the steamer. The result will be 99% as good as if you got your suit freshly pressed at the dry cleaner.

The only thing I haven't figured out how to transport wrinkle-free this way is the shirt... but that's easy to iron. Hint if you suck at ironing like me: you don't take your jacket off at interviews, so pay attention to what parts of the shirt have to be perfectly ironed and what parts don't.

Agreed with everything you said. Also, there are plenty of wrinkle-free/non-iron shirts out there. Brooks Brothers has great ones.

Great suggestions. Many hotel rooms have an ironing board/iron. Call and ask if your room has one.

I too hang my suit after arriving at my hotel room. I iron my shirt the night before (even though I haven't taken off my jacket at any interviews), that way, it's one less thing to worry about in the morning.

This does not mean bad news. I interviewed September 27th and was accepted December 16th.. 11 weeks. I'm pretty sure it depends on your interviewer, mine was a PhD who didn't seem to care at all about admissions.

If your suit ends up with any wrinkles you can usually get away with ironing it through a thick towel. The little bit of heat shouldn't damage the suit unless it's synthetic. Just makes sure you don't put any creases in it that you don't want.

Good luck

Is it a soft garment bag? I had a soft one that was way too big according to the measurement but it fits fine because you can roll it to fit in the overhead. Rolling also avoids wrinkling.

Many airplanes (no matter what airline) have a small closet at the front (near the beginning of the first class section) for storing things like garment bags. The flight attendants were more than happy to put mine in there for me, there was plenty of space for it, and it was waiting for me when I got off the plane. It was also free. This was on United, so even with some of the more annoying carriers (Delta, American, United, etc.), you can make it work without having to check anything or spend money on new luggage. Just my $.02...

Good luck with your interviews! 🙂

No, mine is quite bulky, though not as huge as some of the wheeled suitcase-like garment bags I've come across. Below is a good approximation of what I have (minus the brand and the sticker shock)

http://www.selectism.com/news/2009/08/12/porter-tanker-garment-bag/

So the consensus here is stuffing your suit in your suitcase and carry it on? And many of you here have the type of suitcase that David has kindly suggested? By the way, many thanks to David for your detailed advice🙂

You should be allowed to bring one carry on item and one "personal" item. I think you could pass this off as your "personal item" and not have to jam it into your suitcase. If you're a girl, I would suggest stuffing your purse into your suitcase and carrying the garment bag separately cause you can't have a purse, garment bag and suitcase all separate. This worked well for me.

I have one almost identical to this and I could fit it overhead in a small jetblue commuter plane overhead. Just fold it in half again and you should be good to go.

I just checked my application status and it says I'm incomplete (although I've turned in everything over a month ago). And there are no check marks saying that they have received my application fee, LOR, and my app. Does that mean they haven't gotten a chance to take a look at them...? Or am I missing something??

"A decision has been reached"

booo this was my only interview so far 🙁

I'm not feeling like digging though the thread right now... what are the chances of getting in off the wait list like?

Edit:
for those who want to know, I interviewed 11/11.

tom, don't take my word for this, but I'd say waitlist movement is probably good at Drexel because they have a large class I believe and I'm sure there are a good amount of students who might get into their state school or maybe they like the "ranks of school" and then decide to decline their offer to drexel for a "higher" ranked school.

Thanks for the input! Let's hope you're right!

And for everyone waiting to hear back from their state school or "higher" ranked schools: I hope you get in! (heehee that's not self-serving at all... 😉)

Sorry to hear, Tom. Good luck with the waitlist though and hopefully you have a happy new year!

I'm afraid to check my status lol.. so I'm just going to wait and see what comes in the mail.
