Sorry to hear that! You should call soon to schedule a meeting with the dean just in case you have to reapply. I didn't do it and I wish I had since I'm a re-applicant and it would have been nice to know my weaknesses (Although I did improve a lot in my application). I definitely plan on calling this year if things don't work out.

Hey guys, first post for me on the SDN forums.

First of all I'm a re-applicant.
35O MCAT
3.745 cGPA
3.86 Science GPA
Was a Bio (BS) major at UNC

Before my first application I really only had the stereotypical hospital volunteer experience, and have spent nearly all of the past year to accumulate as much experience as possible in the areas Dr. Peden discussed in my application review.

I interviewed 11/2 and now am just playing the waiting game, best of luck to all of the other applicants here! And for those of you who did not get in this cycle, if it is available to you I highly recommend doing an application review with Dr. Peden. He was extremely helpful in discussing where I needed improvement, and legitimately seemed to to care about me improving my application for the next year (It was a far different experience than the review at had at UNC, which I won't go into, but was not pleasant/helpful).

Welcome mcc12 🙂 I am also playing the waiting game here at Brody. I just loved this school and its whole philosophy. I'm glad you are feeling more prepared this year, though your stats last year look pretty darn awesome to me 👍
So, again welcome and keep posting, and so will I if I get any word.

So, does ECU do silent rejections?

Because, here's my boat:

MCAT: 31S
cGPA: 3.245
sGPA: 2.69
Tons of volunteering, shadowing not so much, BA in English from Duke, plus I'm doing a year of AmeriCorps as we speak.

My secondary was complete way back in september/october, I think, and I haven't heard anything since then. No interview, no rejection, nada. Should I be concerned?

(I mean, more concerned than I already am)

I interviewed back on the 18th of November... the wait is already killing me.

My stats are:

29M (9PS, 10VR, 10BS)
cGPA - 3.66
sGPA - 3.72
BA in Music at a NC University

Anybody received an offer from the most recent batch? I would have thought yesterday was the day!

New update is up. Only 4 more offers ... I guess things slowed down again? It's been over 10 weeks after my interview and still nothing.

Oh jeez. Thanks for posting, gosh, how slow can it go 🙁

As of December 15, 2010, we have .....
  • Received 851 AMCAS applications
  • Received 695 Supplementary applications
  • Interviewed 345 applicants
  • Made 42 offers
  • (Generally it takes 100-125 offers to fill a class)
Anybody remember how many offers they made on December 1st?

As far as I remember it was 38.

Does ECU Accept Letters of Intent? And if so, should I e-mail, or send it by snail mail?

With your stats, I wouldn't worry that much. Sometimes ECU rejects students they think will go to other schools... if you end up without other options, write them a letter (as well as have your committee write one) and you should be fine. 🙂

I have an interview the first week in January... what should I expect? What kind of questions did they ask? I've heard it's pretty typical. Thanks!

Does anyone else find it strange that there have been 21 offers and not one has gone to someone on SDN?

😕

When the dean came to our school and spoke the one of the things I remember is he told us to be prepared to justify our answers. For example if you're asked what specialty you see yourself going into (or some variation of this question) and you answer a neurosurgeon, you should have some reason or statistic that shows that there will be (or is) a need for neurosurgeons in NC.

😕

I think this is just because the applicant pool is pretty small compared to most schools... most people (at least at my undergrad) have never even heard of SDN or they just anonymously read this forum...

Hi all!!

I have an interview scheduled for the first week of January. I spoke with the director of admissions to schedule my interview a few weeks ago and was told that I would receive an interview confirmation/package explaining details of the day (what, where, when, etc.). So far, I only understand that I have to be there at 10 am but do not know where and whether my interview has been confirmed.

Could someone please email me a copy of the interview day format and provide details on where and when the interview is scheduled?

I called the admissions office but they are on break.

Your reply and help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

In the immortal words of Douglas Adams: "Don't Panic"

Having said that, just call the office later to confirm. The interview day details (including your parking pass) will be snail-mailed to your permenant address that you included in your AMCAS application.

Both interviews are semi-blind and about 30 minutes each.

Best of luck!

Called this morning to check status of my application after an interview 3 months ago. Turns out the office is closed until January 3rd! Seems like such a long time. Hopefully there will be a quick turnaround once they open again!

Good luck everybody!

:luck: :luck: :luck:

Has anyone heard anything about the Bordy scholarship? Does anyone know when they start nominating people, etc?

So, Brody. When do you start re-reviewing applications ?? 👍

I called last week (interviewed first week in Nov.) and they said that my application would not go up for committee review again until the end of January / early Feb. Don't know if that helps at all.

Awesome- thanks for the information!

I interviewed mid Nov and she said my first review is in the very near future... I guess that means before the 15th.... just a guess though

I interviewed in early october. Called and was told that my file has been reviewed once ... no decision yet. No word on when it will be reviewed again.

My best uninformed guess is probably soon... since the poster above is being reviewed in early February (most likely). If they're moving chronologically (which I have no idea if they are) that would mean your file would be up for review in the very near future.... regardless I wish you the best of luck!

I was nominated for Brody Scholars last year. Nominations didn't go out until around March. Good luck!

Is it the admissions that nominates? If you don't mind, can you list your stats so we can get an idea what they look for in their scholars program?

Thanks

Can anyone confirm how often the adcom meets at Brody? When are they scheduled to meet again?

So they meet weekly? I thought it was bi weekly... that's good to know.

Or, it's bad to know.

I'm dying to find out if I got in or not. Brody is the only place left for me, so it's here or nowhere this year. I interviewed on October 7, and have not contacted them (other than the thank yous to my interviewers) since, so the silence is deafening on my end. I've almost pulled my mailbox off its post yanking on the door so hard every day!

Come on, Brody! Show me some love!
