Only complete since the end of September and also still hanging out in the under review group. It seems like Loyola is one of the schools that will hang onto your app and keep rereviewing it if they like what they see, so maybe it's a good sign, jadealer.

Yeah, I've been complete since mid-September. Still under review. Although I just squeezed it in on time, and I don't know what date I was actually complete.

Finally complete and under review! I should probably keep my phone out now so I can catch their call. 😛

hey everyone, in the same boat complete since end of september but haven't heard anything, anyway to check your status other than calling?

When I called a week ago they said invites would come by phone call first then follow up email. There is a site to check status, but it's all about waitin for a 708 area code call to hit your phone.🙂

I think they're using it as a coaster for their coffee cups. x.x

Has anyone who has interviewed here had any luck getting a student host? I emailed Ms. Porod, who said she would forward my email out to some people, but alas... crickets. Coming from Cali, so I would prefer to save some dough on a hotel room and to get an in-depth student perspective on the school. Is this a common practice at Loyola?

They usually wait until 1-2weeks before to place you. At least, we get emails asking if we can host students in 1-2 weeks. When's your interview?

My application status has said:
"We have received your application. We ask that you please allow at least one month for downloading letters and completion of your file. Thank you." For about 28 days now...what happens after this status changes? Does it change to "complete" when they are reviewing the file?😕

interesting what makes you think that? there were only 2 other people to interview the day i did, so i'd remember you 🙂

So looks like today was decision day for people who were complete in mid september cuz I was complete in mid september too. But got the opposite of interview. haha.

No but seriously I don't know if they emailed you but for rejected ones they didnt. so I'd check your status page if you want to know if there's been changes because you won't know if they reject you if don't check. they didn't send an email or snail mail. it was just showing up on the status page.

I've been complete since mid or late august and haven't heard anything either way. This process seems so random...

Sorry to hear about your rejection though!!! Good luck at your other schools!!

It says complete and under review when you are officially complete.

If you are rejected it says We regret to inform you that we are unable to invite you for an interview this application cycle ro something to that extent.

Keep checking your status page because even rejections don't necessarily always get emailed or mailed to you but just show up on the status page sometimes.

But yes it does change to complete and also says under review when you are such. If it is taking a long time right now it is because you submitted quite late. Usually earlier in the cycle it does not take that long.

When I applied the first time I applied around this time and didn't get complete til spring and this time I applied earlier and it didn't take much time at all to be complete.

Good luck.

hello, just wondering probabaly a stupid question but how can you check your application status. i have only received a complete email here nothing else.

you login to the secondary. Then there's a tab on the left. I think if I remember (stopped checking after I was rejected) but if I remember correctly it says admissions.

Then you hit that and there are two tabs. One is for the secondary. One is for application status.

You hit the application status tab. That's how you get your status. So its through the same way you logged in for the secondary.

Where is this link? I cannot find it on the Loyola page...

It is the secondary application link that they e-mailed you when your received the invitation to secondary.

Log-in to your secondary application. On the left hand side it says Admissions and something like Registration. Click admissions. Below that should be a link for status. Click that.

don't quote me, but, i believe their committee doesn't meet until late afternoon/early evening. so the calls should not come out until tonight/tomorrow

Is this regarding interview invitations or offers of acceptance or both?

atran - this is somewhat of an ambiguous conversation 🙂

we are talking about offers of acceptance, only.

when we interviewed at least, the dean of admissions sat down with us and told us what date the committee meets to make a final decision, and that we should hear shortly after. i have heard the committee meets in the late afternoons/early evenings, and phone calls typically go out the next day.

loyola is known for calling their accepted applicants shortly after the occurrence of this meeting.

haven't heard a thing since late august or something.

Has anyone gotten an interview recently? When was the first day you could schedule your interview?

has anyone who interviewed recently (nov. 22 committee meeting) received any phone calls yet??

soooooo nervous!!!! i thought maybe we would have heard by now . . . or maybe it's just bad news heh.

no phone call yet, also waiting anxiously

this waiting is no fun! now it is making me wonder if they will even be making phone calls today. of a handful of people i've been in contact with, doesn't seem like anyone has heard anything.

let us know if you do!!!

No word here either. I was also told that I would hear by the 22nd. Let's hope for the best everybody!

so what is everyones bet? maybe a phone call tonight/tomorrow..? (with thanksgiving coming i'd be willing to bet if we don't get a call by tomorrow then we may get the letters sooner than it would be worth it to call) or will we just have to keep playing the waiting game until the letters arrive?

has anyone tried calling and asking about a decision? i wonder if that may work, too. not sure how that would be looked upon, but if they accepted you, i doubt that would be reason to revoke it. at the same time, i don't know how comfortable i'd be with doing that.

i'd be surprised if they cut their phone calling tradition short, it is a powerful recruitment tool on their end. at the same time, they are usually pretty good about calling very quickly!

or am i the only one who hasn't heard..? 😛 then the point will be taken.

Im not sure what to think at this point, from what I can tell they usually call you the day of the meeting or the day after...which to me is worrisome but i dont know really. Maybe they took a few extra days off for the holiday, or they just couldn't get around to it so far (entirely possible, and what im hoping). either way, we will see what tomorrow brings, and if nothing comes then what's a few more days of waiting...

Alright my friends, I called. Decisions were mailed out this morning. Apparently, not all interviewers will be making phone calls to give acceptances out that way. But, it would be a great phone call to get while we are stuffing ourselves with turkey...

G'd luck!:luck:

so, apparently some calls have gone out. anyone receive one?

who was calling - dean jones, dr. muraskas, or your personal interviewer?

I got a call from my interviewer around 2pm (Pacific Time) today, and one from Dr. Muraskas shortly thereafter. 🙂

(Stats are in my MDApps in case anyone asks.)

Got the call as well from my interviewer. Classy touch! Love the school. Good luck all!

Apparently, not all interviewers will be making phone calls to give acceptances out that way.

So does this mean that if we didn't get a call today that we still have the possibility of acceptance? Hopefully my interviewer was too busy to make calls today :xf:

You might get a call on Friday (according to the Admissions Office), but some interviewers might not call at all. So tomorrow or next week's mail!

Here is my (quite elaborate) theory.

First off, of about the 7ish people who are actively posting on this board, 2 have received acceptances. I know that this is not a representative survey, but still. 😛 This is quite low for their acceptance:interview ratio, ESPECIALLY this early on in the game. I believe at one point people interview for waitlist spots - don't quote me on this, I am no official source. Just seems like the consensus, and maybe even if they do have some spots left at that point it is likely few. So, given the fact that about half of all interviewees are accepted, and that it is so early in the game (especially for loyola which starts everything late), I would expect this ratio to be a lot higher, and even higher than 50%.

Then, everyone who has been called received a call from their personal interviewer or Dr. Muraskas (the chairman of admissions). If you notice on previous threads, when the "flow" of phone calls come in, they are from Dean Jones as of lately, so it is fair to assume he has not yet started calling/may not call this time around. I think it is very true all interviewers do not call, and if Dean Jones wants to call then I would assume he calls indiscriminately (but as we see, that has not yet happened).

So, all in all, congratulations to those accepted, and I think that those of us who have not yet heard anything should not jump to conclude that it means bad news. I've given this some thought as I am pretty familiar with Loyola and I am VERY nervous myself for personal reasons, so I needed to rationalize some optimism here. Wishing you all the best and happy and stress free Thanksgiving! 🙂 🙂

Keep us up to date, everyone! 🙂

Interviewed 10/28 and got the call yesterday! Extremely excited, everyone was so friendly--overall amazing school

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd let you know. I never received a call, but I just got the letter today, and I am in! Very excited, loved this place a lot!

So, if you did not get called do not worry! I also live in Chicago (if you can't already tell by my screename 😉) , which is why I imagine I got the letter so quickly, so don't worry if your letters take a bit longer!!!

Congrats to those accepted! I'm still hoping for an interview invite from Loyola... that would be a great Christmas present 🙂

Just got accepted via snail mail as well! Took an extra day for it to get all the way to California but it was worth the wait. First acceptance, so pumped!

I received a phone call from a 708 area code this afternoon, but no message! Did anyone else miss a call and receive a message?!?!?

I haven't interviewed yet, but I know that some people got called for interview invites.

just found out i'm on the "alternate list"... anyone know any info about this? what are the chances of getting off, and when might we hear something?

Yea, me too. Im assuming its the waitlist. Not everybody they accept is going to accept the offer, so theyll pull you off the list as other people decline their offers. At least thats what makes sense to me.

No Loyola love, just checked my status on the site and was rejected. Good luck everyone!

The 'alternate' list at Loyola is indeed the waitlist. I was put on it last year in early April. Loyola will continue to interview until then, filling their class as usual. The chances of straight acceptance are lower in the spring than they are for the first 2/3 of the interview season.

The admissions committee will use the alternate list when the accepted class list dips below the maximum. Thus lots of shuffling happens around May 15. People have been known to hear from Loyola as late as July regarding an acceptance from the alternate list.

I got this message today when I checked my status online. Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know how long it will take to hear a decision regarding an interview after getting this message, etc?

"Your file is complete and under review by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or email."

That's the standard message. My status has said that for months.
