I've been checking the status page everyday! 😕 Anyone know what is curently the earliest interview date?

Hey guys,

I emailed Loyola in early November that I'd be "in the area" for another interview in January. I got an email back that they'd inform the admissions committee, but I never heard anything back. I have another interview now scheduled for February, also in the area. Is it advisable/okay to send them another email? Besides the fact that I'd really love to go to school in Chicago, I'd seriously like to avoid spending the $300 and flying out again. My only reservation is that I don't want to annoy them, but I'm wondering if my status is the same as a month ago.

Anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone! I am interviewing here in January I scheduled my flight to leave Midway Airport at 7:10pm the day of my interview. When does the interview day end? Considering that, do I have enough time to catch my flight? Thanks!

I interviewed last week 12/1 and mine were done in the morning. One guy in my group had an interview at 3pm but 3/4 of us were done by 2pm (lunch/ tour/ talk to the dean). You should be fine getting to midway in time for your flight. Just take a cab if you're worried about being late.

Also, it was like 6 degrees this morning. So bring your coat! Good luck.

Edit: It was more like 3pm. Still you should be fine.

Thank you! So pumped to visit the campus!

To those of you who received an acceptance phone call from Stritch... what time of day did they call you? They informed me that I would find out by the end of the week either by phone or mail... I'm so anxious! The students, facilities, etc are amazing... really hoping I get in!

Hey folks...Just called the admissions office because they said that they might make a decision on my file today when I interviewed (12/1). Turns out that they are in the meeting RIGHT NOW!! Arggh!! Matt (the admissions office dude) said that "If you don't here from us today, then letter will be going out on Wednesday". So i assume that means call = acceptances, letter = waitlist/rejection. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for everyone. i loved stritch!!! please love me back.

Hey Folks,

I was accepted to Stritch this evening. I got the call from Dean Jones around 6:30 pm Central. I was fortunate enough to get an interview day right before this Monday's meeting. (Interviewed Last Thursday, 12/2/2010) 👍

Does anyone know how receptive Loyola is to pre-interview letters of interest? I want an interview here soo bad!! 😍

I am interviewing on Wednesday morning. I wanted to know if anybody would be able to share information regarding their experience. Specific questions asked?

Hey guys.. I know it is early for this, but why not, there is nothing to lose by getting to know each other 😛 - for the Class of 2015 and all those accepted & strongly considering Stritch, the facebook group is called:

Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Class of 2015

hi and congrats to those accepted!

i was wondering what types of questions they ask you during interviews?
esp. concerning healthcare and ethics?

I got one question about ethics and one about health care from my first interviewer. First question: What would I do if a child needed a blood transfusion but their parents refused for religious reasons? Second question: What do I think are some of the current problems in health care? The interviewer made it a pretty relaxed environment so answering the questions wasn't really difficult or stressful.

My second interviewer didn't ask anything too difficult, and other people who interviewed that day didn't get any questions about ethics or health care. So I guess it depends on who interviews you.

I interviewed a few weeks ago and didn't get any questions on ethics or healthcare. Having said that, Loyola is known for bringing up the "standard ethical scenario" questions and asking you to just elaborate the argument, that is introducing the two main sides and what notions support each one. It does help that the staff and committee at Loyola are extremely laid back and friendly. 👍

I interviewed last week and I actually did receive some uncomfortable ethics questions. I was asked which states have legalized physician assisted suicide? and as a follow up, how do I feel about it. Also, how do I feel about stem cell research.

My first interview went nothing like this. It was far more conversational and relaxing.

Does anyone know when they are going to re-review applicants who have been on hold?

does hold mean you interviewed and got waitlisted? or you called and they said they will rereview your application eventually?

if it is the former, then after may 15th i believe. if it is the latter, then probably january-february.

It's a pre-interview hold. I've been complete since August and when I called to check my status they just said I would be re-reviewed for an interview eventually.

Anyone waiting for an acceptance call today? I think when we interviewed they said the committee is meeting today.

I wonder when Loyola will start inviting for interviews again... really waiting to hear back from this school. :xf:

Got the acceptance call today! (actually a voicemail because I was still at work)

I'm soooo happy, this is my first acceptance! 😀

Does Loyola do pre-interview holds? I've been complete since 10/12 and my status still says I'm under review. 😕 Does that mean they just haven't looked at my application yet?

Definitely send updates with some expression of interest. Sometimes if they are on the fence they just want to see some additional input from you. The content is maybe even less important than the fact that you are letting them know you are still interested.

Even just a call on Thursdays to see where your application is can help. I was offered my interview last year 3 days after I called to check my application status, and I was under review for the 4 months prior.

Loyola will interview into May, and they save spots (although not as many as the beginning of the season) for later interviewees.

Thanks Gujudoc and emsdan! You both are very helpful. 🙂 I did send an update letter/letter of interest in mid-December and got a reply saying thank you and they will add it to my file. No word since then but patience is a virtue!

I sent an update letter in November and received an acknowledgment email, but it's been silent ever since. I've thought about calling, but what do I say? I feel silly asking about my status, since that's what the website is for. Like they'll respond, "Uh duh... go online..." lol. Any tips on how to call schools?

I feel so useless just sitting here...

I gave in and called to check on my status. I saw from last year's thread that calling to ask for a status in Jan/Feb resulted in one of three things:
- you are still under review which goes on til end of April when the committee makes a decision and will contact you via phone/email
- you have been put on hold and will be reviewed later so call at a later date
- a decision has been made to not offer you an interview

The guy on the phone was nice but sounded a little bit overwhelmed or tired, probably because a lot of people had been calling today. He told me basically what was on my status site. If you feel the need to call just be nice and keep it short. 😉

We just need to be patient at this point which is easier said than done! 😛

It's weird because people on last year's forum had to call to find out that they were rejected. I thought Loyola would email you or change the status on the site to notify that you are rejected. Can anyone clarify on this one?

Hopefully they will consider changing the policy of only allowing one day of calls if they are overwhelmed by volume.

I was in the same position, and then I got a call yesterday for an interview invite! (Totally not expecting it, I was half asleep when I got the call bc I'm home sick with strep throat so I thought I was delirious and imagining the phone call lol)

So hang in there, they are still considering you!!!

If you are rejected you should get a status update from the website, but may not necessarily get an email notifying you of this update.
