Madskillz, I'm in the same boat as you. Re-applicant who had LOR last year, but not a word this year. Fee has been received almost as long as you. Last year I had fee received, LOR and rejection all within a matter of weeks. My application is significantly stronger this year - I guess there's nothing to do but wait and trust they'll make a decision and let us know. Just so you know you're not alone!

got my LoR request on Sep 1. all letters are in AMCAS already. I thought it normally takes 10 days for the school to process our letters but I haven't heard any word yet. hope the process could go faster. love you, Mayo 😍

Same here. Have you gotten the complete email yet?? I got the LOR request on 9/1 also and already had the letters submitted before then.

Not to make you more nervous, but I got the LOR request 9/1 as well but mine were received 9/10. Maybe give it until the end of the week, then give them a call? It sounds like the requested a lot of letters that day, so maybe it's taking them a few days to get through them all.

I designated my letters 9/1 and still haven't heard anything, either. Hmmm...I guess I should call?

Ah...Mayo Invite. I could not be more excited. Check MDApps for stats if you're interested. Interviewing on 10/29. 😀

My fee was received July 29, and I haven't heard a peep from Mayo... no LOR request, nothing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed at this point, but it does raise the anxiety level a bit. 🙂

I'm in the same boat, but fee received 8/5... hang in there!!!

Just got a rejection email at 11:39pm 🙁... oh well.... I knew Mayo was a total longshot, but I thought that I'd at least try...

Fee received around 8/5. No LOR request.

3.99cGPA / 4.0sGPA / 28M (9-9-10) / TONS of research and some pubs, average clinical exp

Good luck to everyone else! :luck:

Man, 2 rejections in one day sucks...

interview invite this morning!! I could not believe it!!

LOR requested 8/16
LOR rec'd 8/17
invite 9/15

Congrats!

Did you receive separate LOR request and LOR confirmation emails? I got a LOR request, but nothing confirming they received them.

So I had a request 7/28 for letters, then complete on 8/5, but still no invite. Some people I think got invited before me already. Does Mayo put people on "hold" I guess? I am not sure if they are the school to accept updates, should we start sending stuff/inquiring now or wait a bit.

Got the pre-LOR rejection this morning... 🙁

Fee received July 27 (38R, 3.4c, non-trad)

Oh well... it was a beautiful reach.

So I called Mayo this morning about my letters and they said that there are many people in front of the 9/1 request so they are reviewing them first before processing all the letters. Hope this helps anyone wondering why they aren't complete yet.

Thank you! Now I don't have to call. I hope that this doesn't mean that decisions will also be delayed.

interview invite late tonight (11:40PM in Cali) for 11/5! this is totally surreal and is honestly one of the best nights of my life!

for all the In The Heights lovers ... "I'm tryin'a open this champagne ... See the twisty thing is broken but I'm gonna open this damn champagne"

EVERYTHING that people have said about Mayo is 100% true. I have less than stellar GPA and MCAT which has made this whole process very discouraging, yet I believe Mayo saw past that to the parts of my application that will add to their school. While I know it is hard to do, do not lose confidence in yourself and all the hard work you have put into getting to this point. I've spent the last 3 months comparing myself to other people on this site and lost my confidence while doing it. The email I received tonight proved that there is more to an application than numbers ...

9/17 LOR request (2:40 am ....why they would send things at that time is beyond me 🙄)
9/02 Fee received

Now back to anxious waiting......

Congrats! I read the interview invite e-mail at around 4:30 a.m. (starting a very long workday...) and woke up a few people who would have rather been sleeping so I could share the good news. It's tough to keep things in perspective though, especially when a school with 34 m.d. slots has some 52,000 views on its thread here.

You'll probably get a good idea of Rochester when things are a bit "cooler"...enjoy the winter weather!

Thanks for the info, isasmonmmy! I was wondering the same thing (LoR requesto on 9/1 but no update since then). Guess we should just be patient and enjoy the process of waiting😀

Congrats! Do you mind sharing when you got the LOR and when you submitted your letters?

Just added Mayo as a long-shot school yesterday night! We'll see if luck is on my side 😛 though probably not

I just got on to say that I have really enjoyed meeting with the interviewees here over the past couple weeks. I have had lunch with the 2/3 of the interview groups so far, and you have all been fun to talk to. Mayo's interview day is wonderful and very low stress, so plan on having a great time while you are here. Best of luck in the process, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

LOR Request! Mayo is def one of my top choices if not top. I love love love the philosophy and curriculum! I was wondering if any of the students would mind sharing what student life is like there. I love that it's a small class size and definitely see the benefits, but would any of you mind extrapolating on this? What's the day to day like living in Rochester and having such a small integrated school size?!! Pros/cons etc....

Thanks!!

To put it plainly, life at Mayo is "freaking awesome". I didn't know exactly what to expect in moving here, but myself and my classmates are so happy on a day-to-day basis. Sure, we get stressed like any medical students, but I think it's just a different (lower) level here than at other schools. We hang out with each other a lot, so that can take place at bars, movies, parks (during pick-up soccer games, etc). There are also a lot of outdoor activity options here. Rochester has 60 miles of paved running/bike trails. If you are a runner, know that a good portion of the medical school runs marathons. If you are lazy like me, know that your classmates will be happy to introduce you to sports in a stress-free way 😉. Even I bought a road bike for the beautiful trails... Also, in terms of music/theater/cultural events, there are some opportunities in Rochester, but a huge number of great opportunities in the Twin Cities. It is only a 1.5 hour drive to the Cities, and people go all the time. There was just a big Lady Gaga concert there, and people piled into a car for the trip (on a school night!).

Overall, Mayo is all about balance. When I was having trouble in histology, the histology professor sat me down and instructed me NOT to spend my entire weekend studying, telling me that was unreasonable. While they make sure we learn everything we need to learn here, the professors/administration/etc insist that we maintain our passions/hobbies/families/etc during medical school. It's a great environment to study in.

In terms of the small class, again, I was a little bit worried about this (I came to Mayo because everything about the education blew me away, and I just crossed my fingers for the social aspects - what a pleasant surprise!). It is fantastic. We already know each other so well as 1st years, and the bonds we are forming are great. I can't imagine having 120 or even 80 people in the class and having the same experience. We all know each other, and our professors know us well (you will get called on by name in class from the beginning). Plus, with such small classes, there is a bigger impetus for inter-class friendships - the upperclassman hang out with us a lot and are extremely supportive. As an example, we just had our first big final exams. The upperclassman had breakfast waiting for us in the classroom before each exam and a giant card dedicated to "Dr. _______" with each of our names. After the exams they threw us a party at one of the bars. So, overall, the small class size makes for a really comfortable and fun social scene.

If you have any more specific questions, just ask!

Ah the more people talk about Mayo the more I love it! I remember the first time I heard about Mayo I got butterflies in my stomach. Good feelings about this place! Can't wait for my interview on Oct 1st.

There is something wonderful in the water here...I swear. You will be just in time for the leaves changing too. It's gorgeous now (ill have to upload pics I took yesterday) but another few weeks and things will be glorious. Good luck with the interview!

I'd like to go here pls

Is anyone interviewing 11/5?

I'm a HUGE hockey buff (GO KINGS) and saw that the Wild are playing that night. I've always wanted to check out a game in another state and I figured that "The State of Hockey" would be the perfect place to start! If anyone else is flying out of Minneapolis that night or if you got to Mayo, let me know because I would love a hockey buddy(ies)!

I absolutely love what I'm hearing about this school. Like most, Mayo is my far reach school and blown away to have received a LOR request from this school with my mediocre stats. Anyway, I would be honored to be 1 of the 50 students to be invited to attend this school!

Payment received: 8/28
LOR request: 9/10

LORs are all uploaded onto AMCAS but haven't received a completed email yet.

Best of luck everyone!!

Anyone else staying up late to check their emails?? lol

Any word yet? My LOR request was the 17th and I'm wondering when to expect it. I'm not staying up late to check my emails but i do wake up in anticipation

Thanks so much! Now I'm even more excited by Mayo! I run marathons too! I put that in my application...maybe it will help :xf:

I received my LOR request 9/10 but haven't received notification that my LORs have been received. My LORs were submitted around 2 months ago. Did anyone who receive the request around the same time as me receive any notifications?

Hey, if you look further up on this page you will see that a bunch of us from LOR request 9/1 are still waiting to be complete. I had called a while back and they said that they had alot of apps to review and that they were not going to download more until a later date....I hope it is soon because its been 22 days since the LOR request for me!

I got a LOR request 9/10 as well. Every time I see I have a new email, I feel a quiet, hopeful excitement, and then when I open the email it turns out to be some junk about something Amazon thinks I'd like or a meeting or something not Mayo related. But if the 9/1 people are still waiting, us 9/10 folks probably have a few weeks to go yet.

Hey everyone,

Go easy on me, but I got my letter request 8/5 and submitted them 9/8, and still haven't received the you are complete email. The reason for the delay was I just started a new research job and because of my rapid success (already have an abstract and oral symposium presentation, first author) it would be to my benefit to get a letter from my PI. Anyway, that kind of puts me in a weird position, as my request was way before the 9/1 batch of people here but wasn't submitted until probably most of theirs were. I'll keep everyone updated for the sake of comparison.

Also, I sent an update (reflecting that symposium) immediately after submitting my letters, and they replied that it had been added to my file 9/14, although no reply about the letters.

It's interesting to note the actual time delay of AMCAS sending the letters. I'll say that 100% of the schools I've applied to will say they received notification that AMCAS is sending letters via an applicant portal, but don't actually say when they've been physically received. As I waited for that letter from my PI, all my letters went out at the same time for numerous schools. One of those schools happened to display timestamps of when they were physically received. Keep in mind I submitted them via AMCAS on 9/8, but this school says they were physically received late last night - as in some receiving office had scanned the envelopes from AMCAS because the admissions office would've certainly been closed (I think it was something like 9PM).

The delay AMCAS seems to be having with sending letters may very well be a large contributor to everyone here wondering what is taking so long with the "you are complete" email. It might just be the peak in the application cycle as far as AMCAS is concerned, for letters at least. Regardless, I anticipate a large number of notifications through the end of this week.

ya my request was on 7/31 but my letter were uploaded on aamc on 9/2 no complete yet either

So from the past few posts it seems they're not even up to any September LOR requests. So we all have to be patient. I think this is just my paranoid premed self speaking but I also noticed that the last interview given out that was posted was for November. They only interview through mid-December (and I'm sure they're off for Thanksgiving), so are there going to be any spots left??!

I'm worried about that too 🙁 Right now I do not have high hopes for Mayo.

Ya that is something to worry about, but then again there is a lot of speculation in your post. Just because the last posted on SDN was for interviews in November doesn't necessarily mean there aren't interviews left in October, or maybe even September! I think the best thing to do during this process is to avoid over analyzing anything, it really does absolutely no good and only makes you more stressed than you need to be. There is only one truth in this process, being that anything can and will happen despite the most factual predictions.

Who knows, there could be some major set backs this cycle for the admissions committee and they decide to interview into January.

If they're still sending out LOR requests in mid-September, it's because they have an expectation that they may want to interview and then accept some of those people. The admissions staff has been through this before. If they think there'll still be spots for some of these people, there'll probably be spots for some of these people.

It's stressful waiting, I know, but don't panic.
