Wow thats awesome! Do you know when accepted students find out which preclincal campus they've been assigned to?

You can make your preference for preclinical campus known soon after you're accepted. They will place people on a rolling basis into either Lansing or Grand Rapids based on preference until one of the campuses fills up, then a waiting list will be created. People with special requirements for one campus (Usually this is students with families) just about always get their preferred campus.

The same holds true for such students with clinical campuses. If your husband gets a job in Flint and you're assigned originally to Kalamazoo, they'll switch you to Flint. Same for if your kid has major health problems and you need to be near the more specialized medical care in Grand Rapids. Or if your spouse is in grad school somewhere in the state. Married students looking for stability can also bet on being able to stay in Lansing or Grand Rapids for four years if they want to.

During your first year you'll have the opportunity to learn about the different clinical campuses and rank your preference for where you'd like to go. I beleive this year's first years will find out some time late this spring where they will go for block III.

When you say that you can make your preference known soon after acceptance--do you mean that we should email them letting them know? or wait until they ask for our preference? I very much so want to go to the GR campus, so I would love it if I could make my preference ASAP, but I don't want to bug them before they want the information. Thanks much!

I just called admissions and they told me that the preference and special circumstances form will be sent out sometime in Feb. We will be notified of our placement around the end of march.

Just a heads up for those who are waiting to hear the decision on their application post-interview, I emailed the admissions folks today to let them know that I am really interested in MSU, though I have yet to hear back following my Sept 28th interview. I got a quick response letting me know that the committee's next meeting date is December 7th, so that will be the next opportunity for folks to hear back. Though that's a ways away, it at least means that I need not wait on the edge of my seat for a phone call... until December 7th 🙂

Is there a Facebook Group page for the Class of 2015 yet? I haven't seen one so if there is could someone post the link, if not we need to get on that!

Start one up Nano!

I started one for my class, and one of the very first other students to join is now my fiance who I'm couples matching with.

Ya never know...

been under review since early august. no word yet. I'm OOS. I don't expect OOS to be heard from in awhile.

I'm also OOS and have been complete since August. I guess no news is still good news since we're still in the running.

Is there a specific day of the week they send out interview invites?

Rejected yesterday while I was at my interview for UCF COM. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I loved UCF COM and the interview day, so whatevs!

Goodluck all else who are still under review.

For those who care, was complete 10/5 OOS, +3.9 GPAs and a 28S MCAT.

Later 🙂

Just got a call from the dean of admissions. Looks like they are calling about acceptances today. Interviewed 11/4.

Just got a call too! Sure is a relief! Congratz to everyone who got in and for those who are still waiting, don't lose hope! Interviewed 10/28, cGPA 3.95, MCAT 30Q

thats what I dont get, I have been complete since 8/30 (OOS) with a 3.7 and 28O, and am still waiting to here back, guess thats a good thing especially if they do review in order, would be nice to know sooner rather than all the way in March...

I'm OOS and have been completed since 07/15. Are they just really slow with OOS or it is hopeless at this point?

Before the cycle started, this was definitely among my top 5 on my "I wish I get an interview here" list. I feel very blessed with 11 invites, but I remember putting a lot of effort into this school's 2ndary and being really hyped up about the school in general.

So I'm not sure what's going on. I wonder if MSU looks at apps in random order. I don't know.

I sure hope it is random order (and not too much bias against late apps).
I submitted mine on the last day due to a busy semester.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting! 🙂

Got the call last night too 🙂 I had interviewed 9/28, so I was feeling pretty sure I wasn't going to get in given the long delay in the news! 🙂 Best of luck everyone!

I just got an email informing me that I've been placed on the alternate list. I'm pretty bummed but with my stats I feel blessed to have even been interviewed. I felt good about my interview. This is my top choice school so in the upcoming months I plan to send a LOI and updates as well. I wonder in the past how many people on the alternate list have been accepted?

Anyways, congrats to all of those who have been accepted!

When was your interview?

When was your interview?

I was invited to interview on 10/25 (IS) and interviewed at EL on 11/4. The earliest I can hear back from them is May 15... I wonder if MSU outright rejects anyone post-interview?

Your application has been reviewed and your current status is “Hold Before Interview.”

I was complete 8/17, OOS, 3.5/34

Were rejections sent by e-mails or do you have to check your status online?

Wow we're pretty much stats twins (28M, 3.99 cGPA, 4.0 sGPA)! Sorry about the rejection, but good luck with UCF!!! Can I ask you if you're having luck at other schools? I'm having a weird application cycle so far (you can check out my MDapps). Having a high GPA / low MCAT combination is making things very unpredictable!

I still haven't heard a peep from MSU since I was complete 8/5... I don't get it.

so they always send you an update by email or does random checking net some changes also?

for those accepted, did you receive correspondence from the admissions office after you accepted their offer. I sent my response to them 2-3 days ago and haven't heard anything back yet.

You know what I just realized something. The reason you might have gotten a decision before me was because you are in state. I think MSU reviews a lot more IS people first regardless of when completion occurred before going to OOSers.

That might be why you got a decision before me despite me being complete before you.

I somehow thing for OOSers they are still on apps completed in August and haven't even gotten to finishing reviewing september completed people.

Well... I hate to weaken your theory but I am an OOS that was complete in Mid-July and haven't heard a peep yet.

Did you pay the deposit? I first received an email explaining my conditional acceptance and then after paying the deposit, received a confirmation email. I would contact them if you did not receive that confirmation to ensure your spot is being held.

Has there been any OOS invites/acceptances?

I'm from CA and I was invited for an interview mid oct and was accepted early nov. At my interview there were a few OOS candiates as well.

GL! :luck:

CHM looks at much more than just your scores.

I didn't hear from them until March. Interviewed very late, and still accepted.

Don't worry they will hold spots for you until late in the game, they are not one of the schools that fills their class before they are done interviewing.

Also, we do have some new people in the department of admissions this year, so that may explain some differences from previous years.

By the way, the new free standing childrens hospital, complete with a peds ER is opening soon in Grand Rapids!

Hey guys,

I submitted my app for MSU in July, and my app has been on "Hold before Interview" since early October.

I'm a in-state resident. I got my B.S in Bioengineering at UCLA

My Science GPA is 3.6, and my Cumulative is also 3.6.
MCAT 31Q
Average/Above average extracurriculars and volunteer/research

I'm a little worried since I have interviewed at 3 other schools that are ranked "higher" on my list compared with MSU already in September and October....yet I still haven't gotten anything from MSU. In fact...I already got accepted at one school...

Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

Thanks!

You guys looking for conspiracy theories here or something? There really isn't much of a pattern for you guys to try to pick up, other than IS applications move faster than OOS in general. However, applications are often reviewed several times, and nobody can or will tell you if your application has been reviewed once or five times. MSU is also only semi-rolling, so applications are often kept in order to be compared to applications coming in later in the year.

If you haven't been rejected, you still have a chance! If you've been officially put on hold, don't expect movement until likely February, if trends from previous years hold true.

hmm,

Yeah I guess its just a little frustrating that I submitted the app and was complete by early august/late july( I'm also IS)...and haven't gotten an interview invite. I interviewed at other schools two or three months ago in other states(was even accepted to one of them), but hoped that I would be able to go to MSU since its close to home...

haha, I guess I will keep waiting for the invite...

Has anyone hear anything yet?!! today supposed to be notification day..so nervous but still waiting 🙁

GL!!
FYI, the dean may call you pretty late. I got my call at 8 pm ET.

Did anyone with an interview on November 18th hear anything yet?

Got a call an hour ago! 😍 Super-good luck to those who are waiting to hear back! :luck::luck::xf::xf:

Out-of-state applicant (California)
Average stats across the board.
Interviewed <2 weeks ago.

I've been strictly a lurker until now. But I just wanted to add I was accepted this evening. Got the call at 7:09 🙂

Hey AMN, did the status show up online? when did you interview btw?
