I'm in my tenth week after the interview with no change to the info in my portal. It doesn't say hold or anything like that. Anybody else in the same boat?
+1i interviewed 1/11, so i am about 9th week i believe and haven't heard anything either. No info change in my portal! Hang in there everyone 👍
I interviewed back in December and when I reached the 8 week mark, I went ahead and called. I was expecting to hear that it would be several more weeks, but they kindly told me that I would be hearing any day, and the next day I received my acceptance by email! My portal was updated about a week later, exactly 2 months after my interview date. I'm MD/MPH, so I'm not sure if they handle that any different than MD admissions.
But I don't think there is any harm in calling. The people in Admissions are lovely and worst case is that they will tell you to keep waiting...
Good luck to you all! I would love to hear from any other MD/MPH candidates out there!
For any MD/PhD applicants still waiting, I heard today that OHSU has accepted 2 internal applicants, and 3 external applicants for next year's class.
Unless someone backs out, that will be it for this season.
Hi all! I'm currently on hold. Is it still true that ohsu has only given out 15% of their acceptances and that most acceptances will be made after may fifteenth? I remember reading a post that say otherwise... Can someone confirm? Thanks and good luck all.
I think I'm the internal applicant?
Interviewed 1/20. Got my acceptance email today!
Accepted MD/PhD, however not funded for the first year. Not too shabby

I doubt that OHSU has only given out 15% of their acceptances. Anecdotal evidence: there are 13 people on the OHSU MD15 facebook group now (>10%) and I doubt that everyone who has been accepted is on facebook or is on SDN. So while I'm sure that it is more than 15%, I bet that it is also less than 70% (random larger number). There has been much debate here about whether there is a mass of acceptances on May 15. I'm doubtful of that, but the entire process is a bit of a black box.
While your suggestion is valid, do keep in mind that the school will substantially over accept to fill the class. 13 is < 10%.
Last year, 218 were admitted, 124 were enrolled, and they made it to 32 on the waitlist. So I'm guessing with 218-32, they gave out 186 acceptances before the waitlist
Hey I checked my portal for and update, again, and of course saw nothing new. But it got me thinking....how often does everyone check their OHSU portal?
I am fortunate(or maybe unfortunate) to have a pretty cozy work environment, so I check at an absolute minimum of 3 times a day. Ok probably 5.
Just a "for fun" post to cheer up the waiting blues.... =)
Haha, I check my portal update several times a day as well! But, I check SDN like...20 times during work haha. Tsk tsk
Does anyone know what the financial aid is like here?
Loans.

LOL!It got to be a bit of a problem for me. Checking it waaaay too much. I finally had to ask my boyfriend to be a unique kind of "accountability partner". He helped me keep it to 1x a day. I have been "on hold" since like January. Just trying to not let it control my life. 🙂
To the current med students who sometimes skim through this thread, does any of you have access to the 2011 OHSU match list? I read their press report which gives only the big picture of match results, not the specific programs to which their students are headed. I'm sure many of us here would be very interested to know. Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone,
I'm new at this posting business. I have tried to stay away from reading too much of SDN since it kind of stresses me out but since it's getting so late in the season, I was wondering if anyone has been accepted or rejected off of the holding pool?
Hey Guys!
I'm new to SDN and this thread. I was just wondering, is OHSU P/F for the first two years or do they grade students? Is there a rank list? Thanks!
It's essentially a graded system. We have honors, near honors, pass, marginal, and fail. As far as a rank list, I have no idea.
This is true. The only exception is the clinical medicine course which is graded on a 1-10 scale and then converted to Honors, NH, Pass, etc based on class performance at the end of the year.
As for a rank list, yes, there is one, but no one aside from the deans will ever find out what your rank is. During the residency application process, programs will be told if you fall into the top, middle, or bottom third of the class, but nothing more. The school won't even give you specifics on your rank, so that's about as secure as it gets.
PCM is not on a curve like every other class unless the class does *very* badly.
The ranking at the end of 3rd year appears in your deans letter and is in quartiles. The ranking is weighted for 1/3 basic science classes and 2/3 3rd year grades.
But, no, not pass fail.
As of 3 years ago, none of the classes were actually graded on a curve - PCM was the closest to being "curved" because the numerical cutoffs for Honors, etc weren't announced until the end of the year.
But, no, not pass fail.
Oh OHSU, why do you insist on making my decision on you so difficult with your archaic ways, low scores and scary price-tag!
Actually I have heard from a number of people that residency programs much prefer a graded system versus a P/F system. It gives them more information and can add more weight to your residency application. It was stated on my interview day that the students had voted to retain the grading system.
Its could also subtract weight from your app if you are not at the top. I am more concerned with learning style and cooperation amongst classmates- when everyone is ranked in a big pile which to some degree determines where you place I bet some students are less inclined to help others eventually "outrank" them. It also means there is pressure to ace every exam right?
