I interviewed on the 23rd, I know how you feel. I almost wish they'd reject me just b/c I am so sick of waiting...hopefully we hear good news soon right?

From what I've read from previous application cycles most Sept. interviewees hear back by Nov 1st, however seeing as there were a few applicants notified on Oct 30, and the admissions committee told me that all applicants with a Sept. interview have been presented to the committee, I'm preparing myself for a thin letter in the mail later this week.
I honestly thought my chances were pretty decent, my numbers are in line with the school averages, long family military history, strong lor's, one being from a physician I shadowed for a few months who was a previous usuhs grad, volunteer as an emt, and my interviews went swimmingly. Talk about a gut check...

how did you get them to tell you that all september interviews were presented to the committee? they won't tell me anything? Oh god this is horrible....

I called them just now, they said that because we interviewed so early we'll likely here something in the next week. I'm assuming it's probably not good though or else we would have gotten called by now. Too bad, USUHS was my first choice...

Ya because this is the 6th week and they mentioned 4-6 weeks to hear a response I'm thinking that what we're going to be hearing is not what we wanted.

For those of you who interviewed on Oct. 7th, they've started calling...I was conditionally accepted to the Army today.

OMG that's my group... I'm officially anxious. CONGRATS, D3soccer!!!!!!

D3soccer i'm so jealous! I wish my wait was as short as yours. Congrats.

Other 9/23 Folk or earlier I don't know why you guys are stressing so much already. Every year is different, and just because in previous years the school informed students by a certain date it doesn't mean it has to be the same this year. Plus i'm sure if there are 3 people that I know of on SDN that haven't heard anything from 9/23 thats more than 10 Percent of the interviewers. Because of this, I could imagine a large percentage of the total population not hear anything yet.

When I called the school today I told them my interview date and asked when I should hear something by... The person on the phone replied by December.

Do you know if,
1. you are currently a senior in college, would you have to wait till your fall grades to come out to hear back?
and
2. if you are a post-bac student, taking classes for personal betterment (not pre-med required class), would you also have to wait till fall grades to come out?

If anyone was in similar situation that could shed some light, I would really appreciate it.

I think it was in last years forum that they said the school did wait for fall grades in some cases.

Impossible! I just got a pre-interview email and it said "if you interview in October/November you will not hear a response any earlier than January"!

haha congrats dude 🙂

Yes, that's indeed what the email said, and I remember that.
But the "official" time line is 4-6, although i cant remember who told us that during the interview.

So the wait goes on......

Has anyone been unconditionally accepted yet? I received a conditional acceptance on Oct. 16 barring the security clearance and a medical issue that should be cleared up by this week. I am pumped about the acceptance, but won't be totally relaxed until I get the unconditional acceptance.

Yea, I've been unconditionally accepted. I called the office yesterday because I hadn't gotten my conditional acceptance letter, and they told me they would send me a copy of that + my unconditional acceptance letter

Congrats! I was in the same group and was conditionally accepted to the Navy yesterday as well. Best phone call of my life!

YAY congrats!!!!!! I'm a Navy hopeful too. Which one were you?

Congratulations to all those who have received acceptances in the last few days!

I interviewed Oct. 14th and am a Navy hopeful, anyone from the Oct. 14th interview heard anything?

For those who are still waiting to hear back, including myself, and any future interviewees, here is a question that would make the wait not so horrible (I hope)

Would you answer the phone immediately when Dr. Calloway calls to tell you you are accepted when you are,
1. in the library where the exit is more than 20 secs away?
2. watching the Super Bowl, and it's 4th and goal with 1 minute left on the clock, your team is trailing by 4 points?
3. on the toilet, in a public restroom?
4. having sex?
5. in a meeting at work?
6. in the shower, shampooing your hair? (assuming cell phone is in the bathroom)
7. eating chicken wings with your hands, and no napkins around? (your brand new iPhone)
8. taking your midterm?
9. driving and a cop is behind you?
10. high?

feel free to add more :meanie: (or your own questions)

It's totally for real!! It is hilarious & awesome! Someday I hope to create such a party... Did you see the SNL parody?

So... I have an interview in December and I am trying to book a hotel. I am considering staying in DC and taking the metro. I was looking at a hotel in DuPont Circle. Has anyone done this? Or is it easier/less of a hassle to stay in Bethesda?

It's pretty easy to do either one, as long as the hotel isn't too far of a walk from the metro. Keep in mind that dupont to medical center is at least a 20 min ride. I would go with the cheaper one, but if money's not a concern, there's a lot more happening around dupont than bethesda. Good luck with your interview!

It's odd, but the DuPont Circle hotel is cheaper. So I think I will go ahead and book that hotel. I plan on leaving early to get their. Thank you!

Also, is it weird not to preference a branch? I honestly just want to be a military physician, the branch does not matter. I have family/friends in all of them. As I have researched each specific branch, they have their own set of pros/cons.

Just watched the SNL parody..love Kenan but I gotta say I like the original one better! 😀

short answer, if I knew it was her than yeah I would answer. smallville have you been accepted yet? It seems like all of the 9/23-ers were accepted by now, you guys have no idea how bad the wait is. it's seriously killing me.

At this point I'm taking no news as good news, I've read in previous forums where people were getting rejection letters on Nov 4 so if we haven't gotten one yet I'd like to think we are still in the running. It's not a stretch of the imagination to think their acceptance strategy is to accept the cream as far as numbers are concerned earlier and then fill the remaining void during the two week break after the Dec 9 interviews. I think to keep it fair they would review the candidates with more average scores in an order reflective of their interview dates as well. This however could be completely wrong and I could have a "maybe next time" letter in the mailbox as we speak...keep you posted

Eeek with a late interview (dec 2) and average scores that logic makes me nervous. It makes sense though.

for all you guys who were accepted already, did you complete your DODMERB stuff before they called you? I'm thinking that might be why I haven't gotten a call yet...

my dodmerb isnt finished. well i went to the exams but they requested a remedial which i have scheduled later this nov.

Just got extremely depressed. I have been waiting for a LoR from my graduate program advisor since March....well he never called, emailed and was unavailable every time I went to his office. So I had my academic advisor from ugrad write a letter which he did so promptly. FINALLY I'm getting my letters sent out on Monday.

I haven't kept up with this thread for a few months, but its not looking good from what I'm reading. I am completely unforgiving to my "advisor" for being such a complete ass.

holy cow what a bummer. sorry to hear that, it's not too late you're coming in right in the middle 🙂

Invite today for 1/20/11! Hmm...I'm wondering if I even have a shot at this point!

FYI, the med student I stayed with for my interview day had his interview in February.

has anyone else who had been accepted not completed their physical yet at all? I wonder if that may be the reason they haven't called me?

Ah, thanks!!! MY GPA is in the range, my MCAT score is under 30 🙁. I'm excited about this one and I am open to any branch of service...hopefully that'll help.

i'm medically qualified already and have been for a while now, so I don't know if that has an effect

Honestly the way I figure it is if they weren't going to consider us they wouldn't interview us? Maybe I am being overly optimistic but we got interviews and that has to mean something. I'm just planning on focusing on my interview and not worrying about if I am competing for a wait list spot or regular acceptance.
