don't think that's true. i know a girl whose family is spanish (as in from spain) and she was awarded a national hispanic scholarship.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the National Hispanic Scholarship have anything to do with URM status for med school applications?

AAMC website said:...the AAMC used the term "underrepresented minority (URM)," which consisted of Blacks, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans (that is, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians), and mainland Puerto Ricans.
