I think they are just saying that, so we don't bug them if we don't receive any news.

I am sure they still put students on holds and waitlists just like last year. However, the decision for those not immediately accepted will be made much later.
 
is there any student hosting available for interviewees?

EDIT: I sucked it up and called the admissions office. They do.

Goodness, I had a delusional dream last night that I checked my status online and it said "ACCEPTED"... It was a sad moment for me when I woke up. Oh UCLA, what are you doing to me?!

I wouldn't worry at all. I don't have anything on my status page, and it will probably be through the mail. Who knows...

yeah mine is still blank and i was told personally by admissions some time ago that it would all be snail mail so i already decided not to believe the claims of those who say otherwise haha

Guys, the two users posting about acceptances are almost certainly the same guy attempting to troll. first warning sign, harvarddoc2be is a ridiculously silly username, second warning sign: user creation February 13, 2011 (aka today). Ignore it and don't stress, folks. Nothing to see here.

OMYGAH!! Interview invite!!! I am def shaking right now. Complete in August and have been waiting for a veryyyyyyyy long time. I guess UCLA just wanted to give me some love on Valentine's Day!
 
I think the sign of epic win would be if your status page says "decision letter sent" and you don't receive an email.
 
been complete since july, no interview.

just noticed "letter sent" under final decision letter (dated 2/9/11). Haven't checked the mail yet but I'm sure I'll be getting it soon.

Yup or post-interview bad news. So they interview 600 for a class of 121, they accept 170 because they assume only 49 people will turn them down, and they never reject the rest of the people, they just keep them waitlisted until August. Not cool. Seems like they could at least reject the bottom half of interviewees so they can move on with their lives.

Can I ask where you got these numbers from? The MSAR lists the 2009-2010 class as having 186 matriculants.

At the interview day they said they would accept 242 to fill the class of 121.

Yeah the MSAR UCLA page includes other programs, not just Geffen. The dean gave us these numbers when he spoke to us after our interviews.

That's great news! I only remember him saying 170, but I'm sure you heard right. Sorry for the confusion everyone.

It's entirely possible that they said both. Even during my day alone everything was a bit murky, with some administrators saying acceptances would start today, and then trickle out between now and March 15th, with others saying they would be released in batches on the 15th of each month.

Either way let's just hope they accept as many as possible, as quickly as possible.
 
Does anyone know what kind of breakdown UCLA is for how they are pacing themselves in giving out acceptances?
 
"letter sent" yesterday. i've been getting massacred lately with rejections - i suppose its because its getting so late in the season. 🙁

When I interviewed in November I was told that they would come on the 15th of every month starting in January. I was then told that they would begin February 15th (yesterday) but that it would only be a few acceptances. I called a few days ago to find out when I might expect to hear a decision and was told that acceptances would slowly be trickling out now (starting on the 15th as promised) and that I would not necessarily have to wait until March 15th. I was told that I should hear "in the next few weeks" (whatever that means). I'm trying so hard to be patient but I am dying of anticipation.

I would say that that makes two of us, but I have a feeling that it's more like 602 of us 🙂
 
Rejected pre-interview. "Letter Sent" showed up today. I would have loved for them to give me a shot. Best of luck to those still waiting.
 
sooo does anyone happen to know if accepted letters are thick envelopes or thin from speaking with others/navigating past threads? When (and if) a letter shows up at my doorstep I want to know as much as possible about my odds before I tear it open. haha.

The dean said that all the acceptance letters are small and thin. I could be wrong, but I believe that any correspondence you get by mail = acceptance, since they don't reject people.
 
Do we actually know for sure that UCLA did, in fact, release acceptance letters on Feb 15? I mean I know they gave us that date at out interview and all that, but that doesn't mean they released something for sure.
 
Well I just called them and they said they haven't sent anything out. I asked when they were expecting to and the lady said probably March. She didn't sound too sure either. Great.

I really hope you are serious. There is nothing I like more than waiting around.

Although I don't expect to be their top choice so I would be waiting until march or later anyways. (If I have to wait.... everyone else should too right?)

I, too, love waiting around. But I have only been waiting a couple weeks... I feel for the people who interviewed back in November and won't know until March. That's so crazy.

I wouldn't worry about that, its the physical agility station you should be concerned about.

Speaking of makeup, how did you do on the cosmetology station?

I completely effed it up and started talking about my horoscope for that day... which Ironically stated that I would experience "barriers of communication"

Well this sure stinks. I wish the guy that I had spoke to on the phone hadn't gotten my hopes up. That's really lame, since I would really just love an answer.
