Ask again if you want MSTP too; the application is pretty long so I haven't posted it here.

can you post the MSTP questions?? thanks!!

So I just got the first email, and I'm still waiting on the second one (if they give it and not reject me that is 🙂 ) but is the MD only essay truly optional or should you definitely expand on one of your activities.

Also when do they stop sending emails for completing the secondary--in other words when do people know if they haven't received a response that there application is rejected.

Thanks in advance

If you have something to say in terms of an update, say it...Otherwise, don't say anything since you don't have anything to add.

Don't be a douche. That person was asking a legitimate school-related question. In other words, using this thread for what it was made for.

Also, have there been a lot of OOS secondaries sent out yet? I didn't get one (yet?) =(

Ooops, I didn't mean for it to come across the way it sounded. I literally meant, only add something if he had something to add. I'm sorry if it came across as douchey.

But he was asking a question...

and I answered it...write something if he has an update for them. If he doesn't have any updates, don't answer the question...

Again, I'm sorry that my answer was poorly worded, but I really didn't mean for it to sound the way it did. I shouldn't have assumed he didn't have anything to add.

To be honest, I think I misread that first post a little bit as well, it's late haha. My bad man.😍

Haha...I guess...I know it came off as abrupt and a bit rude, but I totally didn't mean it that way....I shouldn't assume things about others..might make an ass of you and ME. ...which kinda what we did here haha!
😀:corny:

can you post the MSTP questions?? thanks!!

To those of you who have submitted your secondaries, has any of your statuses changed at all from "Secondary Submitted" to complete or anything else?

Hmm, I haven't checked because UCSF said that our statuses won't change until a decision has been made (interview granted)...It said something to that effect after submission, so I didn't bother. I should go check though...

From the UCSF page:

Please note: While our office may have already received your letters of recommendation, this status page will not log receipt of letters. The next update you should expect is notification about whether you have been selected to interview with UCSF.

Just got the secondary! There's still hope! (Pls don't send me the big R letter right after I send in the secondary >.<)

How do they collect payment on the secondary? Although I have a fee waiver... I didn't see any payment page or anything regarding that... does the system bypass the payment page for FAP applicants?

I was AMCAS verified on July 2. I still haven't even received a preliminary email. SHould I be concerned?

I got the acknowledgment email a month ago and still no secondary =/. Should I stop waiting for it?

I got the initial email July 21st and just got the secondary a few days ago (Aug 13th), so definitely sit tight 🙂

July 21 got email. Nothing from them yet.
Although I dont expect a secondary from them.
Total long shot for me.
3.65 /33 mcat

I think most of them are, FlowRate, yeah. I know quite a few OOSers have already received secondaries, but my impression is that they're giving it to IS more liberally right now and then will go through and give out extra secondaries to OOSers, so hope is not lost for us.

There are some IS people without secondaries as well 🙂 I'm 36/4.0, and no sign of it yet (I got my initial email on July 22nd). I haven't started to lose hope yet though - but ask me again in a week's time.

im still waiting too. my initial email was july 22 also

I'm an OOS MD-PhD applicant. Got my email July 22nd as well and still waiting for the secondary :/

Also OOS MD/PhD applicant. Got my initial email on July 22, and the secondary email on Aug 12, if that helps...

Only optional essays relating to 1) if you're interested in their special programs, 2) if you're going to be out of town for any days during the interview season, and 3) if you want to update anything. They request you return it within 4 weeks. Pretty sweet.

I can't find the question asking for the interest in a special program!! Where is that?

No news yet here either. Initial email received 7/15. :xf:

It takes up to 12 weeks to either receive a secondary invite or a rejection. They don't do silent rejections, BTW.

You're right, from last year's thread it looks like it took a lot of people 6+weeks to receive their secondary. The only pattern I noticed was that the longer it took them to send you the secondary, the more likely you were to get rejected post-secondary. I'm still hoping for some UCSF love 😍

I was complete on July 22nd, and I have a 3.63 cumGPA and 3.70sciGPA and a 39 MCAT, AND I am from Cali, what's going on?! I thought I was at least going to get a secondary.

Shush!!

Yeah, I noticed that too. 😛

Are most of you guys with secondaries IS?

I am in the same boat Flow.. No secondary yet, but totally OOS here.. I am sort of like giving up... I really have no connection to the area at all...

Just got my secondary today at 12:30am of all times... Good thing I'm checking my emails in China, so it's 12:30pm over here 😛

I'm OOS, but applying MSTP, so it's not as relevant.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting on secondary replies! I was pretty anxious that they were taking so long to get back to me, but the patience pays off. They're really nice with the invite too ("We'd like to know more about you.")!

I'm IS too and it took me over 20 days to get the secondary even though I applied early. Don't lose hope yall, I'm sure its on the way 👍

Got the first email 8/12. I praying for some love. This is truly my dream school and I hope they look past the GPA! I love San Fransisco just about as much as I love Hawaii.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how comprehensive the screening process is at UCSF. Its my dream school like a good amount of applicants here. I'm pretty surprised I received a secondary here as well as at UCLA but rejected from UC Davis. Just kind of gauging how they look at these and for the interview invites.

Thanks for the inuput,

Good Luck Everyone

If it makes you feel better, I'm a 41Q 3.91sGPA OOS, and I havent gotten anything from them yet either.... we just need to relax and wait.

Was verified 7.22

To those of you who have submitted your secondaries, has any of your statuses changed at all from "Secondary Submitted" to complete or anything else?

nope. i submitted my secondary 7/22 and it still says:
"Current Status- Secondary Submitted
Thank you for submitting your secondary application. We will let you know if any additional information is necessary.
Please note: While our office may have already received your letters of recommendation, this status page will not log receipt of letters. The next update you should expect is notification about whether you have been selected to interview with UCSF."

does anyone know if UCSF just doesn't bother marking applications as "Complete"? ...or are they just taking a while to mark them this year?

I'm pretty sure that what it says in your status is what will happen. You won't see any changes unless you are invited for interview/not invited for interview. It's nice, in the sense that we don't have to worry about it, but it's also scary if for some reason they don't get your letters.

I had a glitch in one of my letters and they called me to clarify it about 3 weeks ago and corrected it. I'm taking that as a confirmation

Just checking in on you all- UCSF indeed did not have a 'complete email' last year. The status indicated that they had received your secondary information and that your file was now under review. With that said, the first interview invites went out on August 19th (today!) last year. And no, I have NO idea if that's the same for this year especially since '08 interview invites started in September sometime. I know it's hard to be patient through the cycle, and especially to not constantly check your email for things! Good luck to you all, and once again, feel free to post any questions you may have.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how comprehensive the screening process is at UCSF. Its my dream school like a good amount of applicants here. I'm pretty surprised I received a secondary here as well as at UCLA but rejected from UC Davis. Especially with stats that are not even close 3.6cum 3.5sci 27mcat Just kind of gauging how they look at these and for the interview invites.

Thanks for the inuput,

Good Luck Everyone

So the stats from last year:

Application Process

SOM applications:6400 SOM secondaries:1500 SOM interviews:500 From the 1500 SOM secondary applications, 290 were sent to MSTP applicants.

Secondary applications: 290 Interviewd: 62 Accepted: 11

Congrats on getting the secondary invite! After a month since they sent me an initial review email, I still haven't gotten any love from UCSF. But I did receive an invite for all of the other UC's (3.8/32). You just can't tell what these damn schools want but I think UCSF screens pretty thoroughly, taking your entire application into account, not just stats.

Hmm, good luck with the other UCs! I have the same stats as you and received an "auto-secondary" from UCSF...maybe you're right that at UCSF, there is more than just numbers and there was something in my application that "clicked" with them.

Thanks Carbon and asyouwereatrio good luck to you guys as well. Hopefully the good luck continues to interview invites.

This is my dream school by far, but the OOS competition will probably be pretty stiff. I have a 3.7/36/MD only with the LA and SD apps sent off already.

Sigh, I get a mini heart attack everytime I read this thread. I want a secondary so badly! haha - good luck all!

(received initial email 7/15, it's been just over 5 weeks)
