For those of you waiting to hear for late interview invites, I spoke with a lady in admissions today and she stated they had a record year for applications (~4500) and she said interview invites will be going out at the end of next week so hang tight. Hopefully I'm not the only one on here waiting for a decision this late for an interview!

Gah I want Friday to be here! Still waiting on an interview...

I got accepted to CU SOM today. I am beyond elated as I love the school. Good luck to everyone!

At my interview day Ms. Patel said they had only filled 50% of the seats at that time, so there are plenty of acceptances and more interviews to come.

when was your interview? if you dont mind me asking

Venus Neutron:

Are you OOS or IS, and if you don't mind me asking, what are your stats?

Venus Neutron, you must have amazing stats/EC's and rocked your interview! That was a quick interview turn around time. Congrats, all of your hard work as paid off!

Thanks, PinkNoise! I am really rooting for you to get an interview.

To answer some of the other questions. I got accepted this afternoon by email. I am In State. My stats are unexceptional (3.66/30R) though I am nontrad. CU truly does look beyond stats and considers the whole applicant (especially the personal statement). I actually thought I blew my second interview so was praying for just a waitlist spot. I actually screamed when I saw the acceptance email.

Again, good luck to all you. Feel free to PM me with other questions.

Thanks for sharing Venus Neutron! Congrats, you must be pretty excited 🙂

Just curious--who in this blog (that is still following it) is a "traditional" instate candidate, and hasn't been accepted yet?

I called and spoke with admissions and found out that they have "plenty" of seats yet, and that they are sending out a decent amount of acceptances at the end of February (wouldn't give me a date though). And she also said that the OOS/IS acceptance ratio has been pretty even.

I have tried to call and find out more information on where my application is at in their process. Granted I wasn't complete until Dec 10, so I know I am at the end of the line. But is anyone else out there still waiting for an interview, or I am the only one lost in limbo. I am OOS/32/3.82, heavy in leadership, philanthropy and medical work experience, lite on shadowing and no research experience.

I've been complete since 11/3 and haven't heard a word. Still hopeful, though!

Applied as in-state, interviewed in Nov, no word. 3.9/39. Dammit CO, I love you, get back to me! Hoping I'll be in the end-of-interviews acceptances. Agh!

Ha! I was complete 9/2 and haven't heard a peep either. Wish I could say I was still hopeful but I think the writing's on the wall for me.

I'm in the exact same boat. Same interview date. Same stats. Also IS. So many other schools have already given me an answer. Why won't CU tell us already? It's so frustrating.

They're waiting so they can give people like me a chance 😛

Just kidding it sounds like you guys got it made. No use stressing. 🙂

I think CU is just slower at making their decisions. It seems like the portion of the class that has been filled has been more "nontraditional" students, as they like to have a varied class. I think they like to evaluate all of the IS traditional students before they send out acceptances.

I hope the end of Feb comes fast!!

I have heard that Colorado makes it very difficult for an OOS student to change their residency so that they may pay in-state tuition after the first year. However, I noticed on the website that there is a form you can fill out to petition to receive in-state tuition after one year (http://www.ucdenver.edu/student-ser...g/HowMuchDoesItCost/Pages/ResidencyForms.aspx).

Has anyone tried to do this? Is it worth a shot or would I just be switching my voter registration and driver's license for nothing?

I actually do know about the tuition thing. A few years ago (5-ish) you could petition after your first year to get in-state tuition and it was fairly easy to do. However, about 5 years ago, the entire state of colorado changed their laws and decided whatever your tuition classification is on the first day of school will be your classification the whole time you are enrolled. At this same time, CU's medical school brought their OS tuition down... Everybody used to pay one really high year and then 3 years at the lower IS rate, now everybody pays four years at a semi-lower OS rate, but it comes out to about the same cost in the end... just less paper work to deal with.

You have no idea how many times this ^ made me check my email and my status today. Still no news about an interview invite. 🙁

Oh well I suppose I deserve it as an OOS.

Also does anybody know how we might be able to access our submitted secondary applications? I made the mistake of now saving it before submitting and if I ever get an interview I'd like to review specifically what I said.

This may seem obvious, but did you check the original text document you typed them up in?

I'm with you, OOS and waiting with crossed fingers on that invite. Starting to look like it won't be this week...unless they're working late!

It's on a now deceased laptop 🙁 But I still have a rough draft of sorts so I have a good idea of what I said.

Yeah for sure not this week. I'm just worried that they're going to reject me but reserve the right not to tell me until March. Knowing is always better...

Sorry Gara! I am just the messenger 🙁. I checked my email and status a bunch of times today as well. I am OOS but I actually grew up in CO, graduated from HS there and my mom still lives there, wonder if that means anything when they consider an applicant? Hopefully they will let us know soon!

Couldn't agree more! I'd love to know either way, but I'm very hopeful for the positive email.

FlowRate and robinhalldunn, I am also in the same boat. 3.8/39, nontrad, IS, interviewed 9/24. Still have yet to hear. A while ago I just set my mind on not hearing acceptance/rejection decision until march, and it helps me just chill out about it. 🙂 Good luck to you!

Has anyone received interview invites or talked to the admissions office about decisions? They had told me they were going to have invites by last friday.

I would like to know as well. I couldn't get them to tell me anything when I called. Does UC take update letters?

I emailed them asking if they do take updates a long time ago and never got a reply, I'm guessing they are under heavy load and it slipped through the cracks. Admissions did tell me there are a bunch of applicants this year, more than usual

From CU's FAQ's section:

CU FAQ said:
Can I include additional documents with my application (updates, letters of intent, and/or additional information?
No, we will not accept any updates or additional information to your AMCAS application. Any materials received will be destroyed. The only information that will be reviewed to determine your status for an interview is your AMCAS Primary Application, your University of Colorado School of Medicine Supplemental (Secondary) Application, and your required letters of recommendation. If there is was an error on your application or you need any changes made, please contact the AAMC at (202) 828-0600.
If you are invited for interviews and wish to bring a copy of a published article, a notation of new experiences or other information that may expand the interviewer's knowledge of your experiences beyond what is contained on the AMCAS application, that is permissible. However, none of this information will be retained in your file.

Just an FYI, got off the phone with the Admissions Office, and they're still sending out interview invites-- there are a few interview days still left, apparently.

Did they mention any dates on which they'd be telling people to stop hoping? I assume once all the spots are full they'd send out notices but I've seen other schools which have so many cancellations they keep people in the running.

I'm OOS, turned my application in at the start of August and haven't heard a thing either. Maybe they're teaching me patience

Thanks for that update! Been looking to see if they were even sending them out anymore period, or if they were just waiting to send out the wave of denial emails

Congrats. When was your completion date?

Almost more important than knowing if they are still
Sending invites does anyone know if they're sending rejections?

I was complete in August... It has been a long time! But I have a friend who has been rejected pre-interview, so I know they have sent some out!

Hi all,

I talked to Dimple a while ago and just talked to Dr. Ozzie Grenardo, and they both said CU could let interviewees know as late as the end of April about acceptance status. I've heard things saying they have to let us know by March--clearly here that's not the case. Just know that there's plenty of time to hear back if you've interviewed and it's still silent.

It's frustrating to not hear anything for so long. The next round of acceptances will be released at the end of this month, which is what the lady I spoke with at CU told me. She wouldn't give a definite date though so it could be the 25th (Friday) or the 28th (Monday)...who knows? I'm just hoping to not have to wait till March, or worse yet April, to hear. It'd be nice to look for a place to live over Spring Break.

Dear CU,

I, for one, will gladly take an April (or May or even June) acceptance, so please grant me a March interview!

Your truly,
LingoLaine

I agree LingoLaine. I don't think rolling admissions make sense at all.

It makes sense for those of us who have spouses looking for jobs/graduate positions and it helps to begin planning a move.

Also it makes sense when you have been into a school since October and don't have to worry about it the whole year.

I think what people were referring to is that CU claims to be rolling admissions, and then hardly acts like it. Only a few people on this thread have heard whether they are accepted or rejected, and many of us interviewed months ago. It would be nice if they said they were rolling to actually act like they are, and to let us know of our status in a prompt manner.

Exactly! It doesn't behoove CU to wait for so long, either. While their admissions office is sitting on so many applications, the top candidates are being accepted at other schools.

Even if they were to reject some of their applicant pool it would be a big improvement. If they decided that they don't want me, do they really need to drag it out for 6 months?

I'm so tired of waiting for news that I've dropped CU to the bottom of my list.

Is there anyone that has received an interview invite this week at all? I've pretty much written off colorado at this point but wanted to see if there was anyone out there who had received one recently?
