Somewhere on the school's website they said most accepted applicants find out in March. I have a feeling that doesn't mean they make all the decisions at the end of February and wait to hit the "send" button at midnight on March 1st.

Today is only the second of the month, so maybe we should just try to calm down a little and be patient.😛 (Easier said than done, I know.)

Lol! Well said.

Website says the class is selected in "early March" and the "check your status" says most will not find out till March 31st.

Has anyone who interviewed in the month of February heard back anything?

Interviewed in February on the last day & I still haven't heard anything. My options are quickly dwindling, so I'm crossing my fingers! Best of luck! 🙂

I'm pretty sure that they only accept maybe 2-3 applicants after each interview date. I have a friend at my school who has been accepted and he says that there are only about 40 members in the CU SOM 2015 "Facebook group" so that means that there are still plenty of spots. Since it's March 8th and they haven't done anything (since no one on here has had any updates) then I'm going to assume that we all won't hear until March 31st. Very frustrating 🙁. Maybe March 15th will mean something??

CU is very secretive about their timeline as when I called at the beginning of Feb they said that a lot of acceptances would go out at the end of Feb (which didn't happen apparently) and then I called the last week of Feb to check again and they said that they would probably go out the first week of March (which didn't happen to anyone on here either).

Since the last interview date was back in Feb, I assume they've made their decisions on all of our applications, so I don't understand why they make us wait for no reason. BIZARRE!

I was interviewed in the beginning of February. I guess no one has gotten any acceptances after feb 2nd round of acceptance. It sucks to be waiting, but such is life.

When I interviewed (1/14) the admissions reps said that a little over half the class had been filled. If their last interview date was the end of Feb, I'd say they still must have about 1/3 to 1/4 of the class to fill. If classes are finalized in early March, I doubt we'd hear before mid-March. I hope it's more like mid-March, but we know it can be as late as March 31st. Patience is really the only thing we can use, but that doesn't make it easy.🙄

FYI- Just got this email from the CU premed advisor:

This week CU School of Medicine will be sending out the remainder of their accept, waitlist, and deny decisions. In years past waitlisted applicants have been notified of a specific rank on this list; this is not the case this year. This year the Admissions Committee has compiled a general waitlist with no ranking. In an effort to continue the holistic review process that they have committed to, it is important for them to be able to review all candidates multiple times before offering acceptance. Historically they have accepted about 60-70 candidates from the waitlist.

Well that's good news that they will let us know this week--if they actually follow what was said to the CU advisor. The changes to the waitlist is just wacko though...so we won't even know whether we're "first tier," "second tier," or "third tier"?!

GAHHHHH! I just want to know at this point. I do have one acceptance, but CU is where I want to be. If I'm rejected I just want to know so that I can start to plan to go to the other school. If I am accepted, fantastic! If I am waitlisted, I won't have any idea of where I stand--which is crap.

Good luck to us all! Post updates please so the rest of us know if we should be neurotically checking our emails or not. 🙂

Same. Some time this week or next I guess.. hopefully. Finally.

Good luck to you FlowRate! We've both been waiting for so long. Here's to CU not ignoring their in-state applicants who are coming straight from undergrad :xf:

Yeah I think they dropped the 90% nontrad thing, but IDK. The best way to put it is that I'd be super content with my app cycle if I got into CO, anything else would be cake. (I like my acceptances now, but they're not near my immediate family or as cheapish as CO) Good luck to you too! 🙂

Accepted via status page, no email yet... wait...just double checked... Accepted...Wow!!!

Which status page!?!? I've had trouble with the secondary application page. Can you please post the link to the login page? Thanks.

Accepted! just received the email -- OOS, interviewed early october

Does it mean that only the waitlist and rejection email are left to go out? Did you guys all get that acceptance email around 11 AM MST?

God I hope not!! Let's assume they are sending out email by email according to name or something...

COME ON CU! :xf:

I am with you on that one. I have no idea if they send out a mass email or individually..

Got accepted this morning (wohooo!), interviewed in January. Also, I did receive the e-mail at 11am.

Congrats to all those who were accepted and good luck everyone.

Yeah, I just called because now I am starting to panic as this is one of the few areas where My fiancee and I have prospects. They told me of course we could hear all the way until the end of the month....

I asked if the class was full or if they are still accepting and she said they are still accepting.

Take this all for what it's worth....hopefully some more acceptances will go out throughout the week...

Waitlisted.... so the uncertainty continues. Would it be worth my while to tell them I love them?

Waitlist. Email. 1:06 MST

Instate. Interviewed 9/24 with a 35 and a 3.7 GPA.

Not thrilled about more waiting, but happy to have a shot.

Waistlisted. In-state, traditional student, 39/3.95, told them I would attend CO over another rather highly ranked school that I was accepted to before I interviewed, felt like I had good interviews. What else can I do? This process is making me crazy again.

Rejection, IS. Thank you, Colorado, for dragging that out for 5 months.

Waitlisted via email. I'm excited, although without the tier business whose to know whether we waitlisters really have a chance or not. Sorry to those who got rejected; been there QUITE a few times!

Do you think they would accept a letter of interest/intent?

@flowrate: great score & GPA; I seriously cannot believe you were waitlisted! 🙁

Emailed Ms. Ehlers, we still are not allowed to submit update letters. Sucks since I've done so much cool stuff this last year. Ugh.
I know. So begins the months & months of more waiting. All things in due time, I guess! 🙂

Waitlisted as well. Interviewed Oct. 4th, IS, 4.0 and 36. Who knows what they are looking for. I think I'm going to call and ask about how many people are waitlisted.

Yeah! & keep us posted. Did you get accepted to any other school(s) that you're considering going to?

wow... flat out rejected. I was not ready for that: OOS, 4.0 from a big name school, 37 mcat, published, thought the interview went well...

if my state school hadn't already accepted me I'd be pissed. what the hell med school? what's your deal?

Got told point-blank that they won't tell us how many people are on the wait list. So we're just stuck in limbo again. Half of me wishes I was just out-right rejected so that I could move on.

Why do they feel the need to be so freaking secretive?!

Edit: Forgot to add that I have been accepted at University of Iowa and they've offered me a pretty large scholarship. CU was my number one, but now the school is starting to turn me off. 🙁 I'm surprised the in-state institution is treating us all like this.

Wow that's obnoxious. Maybe I can get an accepted person to ask about it 😉 haha.

I am sure the number of applicants on the waitlist is similar to the sum of all three tiers from previous years. I don't understand, however, why they would take a step back from the tiered system (though many other schools don't tier their waitlist). The tier system at least lets people know generally where they stand and I don't buy for a minute that they have not already ranked it and after having some application for 8 months they should know where they stand. Also, if they don't allow updates, what is the point of consistently re-reviewing the applications.

Anyway good luck to all on the waitlist, I was flat out rejected post-interview last year and attended the group feedback session after the interview. They provided me with personal feeback on my application and specific recommendations for improving my application (which I did) and I got in this year. While they don't guarantee that you will get in even if you improve your application, it helps you see their reasoning behind their decision and flaws in your application that you may not be aware of (and subsequently not address for the next application cycle).

Congratulations to all the new admits! (So jealous as I was rejected a few weeks ago)

Question for you esrever -- I'm planning to attend one of their feedback sessions. Do you know if they provide personal feedback even to those who were rejected pre-interview? Do they email you about the sessions so I can make sure I don't miss it?

thanks

I cannot say for sure, but I believe they offer the feedback sessions to EVERYONE that is not accepted. In the rejection email I received last year there was a paragraph that detailed when to contact the admissions office and when the sessions would take place. When I attended the session, Dean Wagoner led it and they gave each of us a handout with our statistics (MCAT, GPA, etc.) and the average statistics of the applicant pool, accepted applicants, etc. There was also a paragraph specific to our application its short comings and recommendations for improvement. There was a Q&A Session and that was about it. It was very helpful!

Waitlisted as well. IS, 34, 3.7, very non-trad. Nothing like waiting five months to be told "maybe in another five months". Still, I'm really stoked to get this far. At least I know that there's not something freakishly wrong with me or my app.

So, if they can offer us admissions anytime between now and August, that leaves a number of significant issues for those of us on the waitlist. If they don't accept updates, is there anything else we can do to indicate our (rather extreme) interest? Can we attend a group feedback session so we know what to work on for the next application cycle in case we don't get in? Should we prepare new primary applications when the new app opens?

Bah.
I'm joining the wait list group too. interviewed early jan
oos, 38, 3.6
so frustrating to wait more, even more frustrated that they are not ranking us. Did everyone else get told at their interviews that there would be the 3 waitlist groupings?! At least I'd know where I stand!

It looks like they don't do exit interviews, but I called and they do "information sessions" this year (different, I believe, from the "feedback sessions" in years past because even people who haven't applied can attend) which I think Dr. Winn will be present at. If you go to the admissions page http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/education/Admissions/Pages/Admissions.aspx you will see the sessions in the lower left hand corner. They have them mid April til mid July. I think that's the best we can do for now. Good luck everyone 😀

Congrats to all newly accepted students, is there anyone else who hasn't heard? Interviewed in January, no status update or email today. Thinking maybe I should give a call or email to the admissions dept.
