After saving an update to your application through their website, is there any where you can see that it is now listed? It said it saved, so I assume it is now attached to my file, just curious if was listed anywhere on the status page. Thanks!

After a day to a few days it does list your update on your status page with a checkmark next to it--I added an update a month or so ago and that is what it did for me (I don't remember exactly how long it took, but I'm sure it was fairly soon afterwards)

"We'll be closing/rejecting a substantial number of files via applicants status page today by 5:00 Eastern time." (11/22)

Anyone's status change?

No changes for me and I was complete 8/23...still just says "file under review". Honestly don't even know how I've held on this far though with my gpa/mcat....they must have just misplaced my file lol

no change in my status either. Complete since 8/11. I'm happy I'm not rejected yet but I'd like to hear something!

Application Screening Completed
Your application has been reviewed. At this point we are not able to offer you an interview. Additional reviews may take several months as we compare groups of applicants. Thank you for your patience.
I don't know if this is a 100% rejection, but I may withdraw either way as I would rather not have this be in the back of my mind for the next couple of months and I've been accepted to places I would likely rather matriculate than Michigan.

Good luck, all!

Sounds more like a "hold" to me -- either way, congrats on your acceptances!

Woke up to a surprise interview invitation. I'm been complete since early July, so I had all but chalked Michigan up to a rejection. The interview isn't until February, but I'm stoked!!! 🙂

I don't think this is what they mean by rejection. My status is still under review and it says that there may be some on hold time where they compare groups of applicants. I think their Twitter update meant they would be actually closing files.

Anyone here back from the 11/12 or 11/19 interview days?? They were some of the largest, so I know there must be some SDNers.

I believe that at the interview day, they said we'd hear back 12/1. Maybe they will send out some early emails for acceptances, but otherwise probably tomorrow...?

Hey guys, I had a quick question about the secondary..
Did UMich required a photo upload in the secondary?

OMG! Just got the cheesy acceptance video email!!!!

Me too!!! Despite the cheesy video, I'm still as happy as can be. Not only was this one of my top choices, but it's also my first acceptance!

Right now I'm so ecstatic I can't even contain myself. Kind of sucks that I'm already at Philadelphia interviewing for Temple tomorrow, but at this point I couldn't care less about it, because I just got in to one of my favorite schools!

For those curious, I interviewed on 11/12.

Does anyone know when the people who were deferred on October 15th will get an answer?

I'm one of those "highly desirable December decisions", but I don't know if its early, mid, or late December...has anyone called and asked? Thanks

Just saw this on the Michigan twitter:

Defer Decision candidates will receive update via status page on Wednesday, December 22 by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Perhaps Michigan would like to give some of us deferred candidates a nice Christmas present/Acceptance?

Anyone know how many people Michigan deferred? I know a lot of people who were waitlisted, so I know not everyone got deferred, but i really have a hard time believing the "highly desirable" part of the deferred decision.

If a lot of people were deferred, then I'm not getting my hopes up for an acceptance in December =/

Worst part of the job: we are preparing to close (reject) a couple hundred files today (will be done by 3 p.m. Eastern) via status page. about 4 hours ago via web

I have a feeling this means curtains for me......:scared:

Curtains for me as well. A date that will live in infamy.

Ah, well, it's been fun, guys. I'm thinking my file will finally be closed. Oh, how fickle these top 10 schools can be....😛

Keep leading me on UM....survived.

so when they say they are closing files - will your status update say rejected?
I have been stuck on the "we have reviewed your application but will keep re-reviewing" message for a while but it didn't change by 3 pm today...

It should, but mine still says "File complete-Under review"

Did anyone actually get rejected today?

I also thought for sure I'd be "closed," but my status is still the same - under review.

Same here. Maybe we are all lucky enough to remain in the pool for consideration? Let's hope.

Their twitter updated an hour ago: "We'll keep reading files--we're hoping to have final decisions for all files by January 15 -thanks for being patient."

Somehow managed to not have my file "closed" today....somehow God has forsaken me and I haven't been rejected.

I feel like I should have had Tyra Banks tell me I was still in the running for a spot at UMich

so do you guys think that last twitter update means to say that they actually didn't close any down today?

Not at all. I don't know why they would tweet something that significant and then not follow up with it without explanation.

What's more likely is they rejected people who sent their apps in a while ago and they are now reviewing applications more recently submitted - I'm sure quite a bit considering their submission deadline was just last week.

Just because no one here is reporting rejection doesn't mean they didn't reject people. It sounds like they rejected a bunch of applications today and then pledged to diligently review those they haven't yet looked at/decided on so that interview invites go out in time (by Jan 15).

Just out of curiosity, did anyone else get rejected from MSTP and ask to still be in the running for MD?

I did but my status page has constantly been MSTP NO INTERVIEW since then, despite getting an email from then saying " We will keep your file open for a possible MD only interview offer" (and yes, that was the entire email. No thank you, no signature, nothing. Very weird)

Hello all! I am a former member of the admissions committee at the U of Michigan, and I was browsing through this thread the other day to see what's been going on in the world of applications, and I thought I'd lend a hand - I am available to answer any questions you guys may have about the U of M med school. The admissions committee is very transparent about their process, so I can answer any additional questions you may have about that. But more importantly, as I've been through the whole med school experience, I can answer questions you may have about the U of M as a school.

I loved being a student here, and I would definitely choose Michigan again. I am open to any and all questions you may have!

I would have loved to see more current and former med students on this forum to get their perspective when I was applying.

Let me know! Good luck !!!

from their twitter:
"AEC Meeting today-will make decisions for all MD candidates who interviewed 12/3 & 12/10-reported on Friday/17th via status page."

Didn't Dean Ruiz say that it'd come out on Thursday the 16th? unless he meant that it would come out on the 17th for the 12/10 kids?

anybody know for sure?

When I interviewed 12/10 he said the executive admissions committee would make decisions Wednesday but would not release them until Friday because they review them on Thursday to make sure they didn't overlook anything (something like that-I was confused). But he did say statuses would not be updated until Friday. Initially he told us 12/16, then corrected himself saying Friday 12/17. Perhaps he said the wrong date for the 12/3 people?

seems to me like he misspoke for the 12/3 kids. that's fine. it comes out with the washu decisions then. either way, i'll be happy because finals will be over.

good luck everybody!

Just received Dean Gay's acceptance video from Robert Ruiz. WOW! I interviewed 12/10. Robert Ruiz told our group that statuses would be updated on 12/17 (mine still is not).

Congratulations, Beta Cell! I received the acceptance video last night as well - interviewed 12/3. how exciting!!

deferred.

question. it says that it's a december decision, but I'm guessing they meant march decision?

The december deferrals are looked at again and an update is given on 12/22, at which point you can get the acceptance, waitlist, deferred to march, or rejection.
