Got the "further/#3" status 10/21.

4th interview this season. Really excited about this one!

Interviewing 12/7, so it's going to be very soon.

Hmmm....I got the "very interested" status on 10/10 but have heard nothing from the school since. Tryin, did you send them any updates or letters of interest?
 
I didn't send them any update letter or anything like that. I'm convinced it all has to do with your evaluator and when they get to your application after giving you a priority score. Hang in there, you'll get one with that priority score, no doubt!

My advisor drafts a composite letter and I know she wouldn't have put anything bad from the rec's she recieved into it and I had an MD letter from a doc I still keep in touch with.

I haven't heard from 75% of the school's I've applied to even though my secondary apps were out by mid september. Had one interview and got waitlisted. On "hold" at 2 other schoools. Just got a notification that I'm being considered for the next round of interviews at another. Rejected by 3 now.

I don't know where you went to school, but my advisor also write us a composite evaluation and he's notorious for writing negative remarks - in fact schools have commented on it before to other applicants I know, asking why is our advisor so harsh and a tough evaluator to everyone. So I wouldn't be so sure that nothing is bad in there, depending how well you know your advisor or how well he/she knows you. For what its worth, I'm in a similar situation to you, with schools and hearing back, except I was complete everywhere in late August.

Reading this makes me so glad my school doesn't have an advising office. Its much easier to pick letter writers from profs that you know.

Yeah, its not an ideal situation. However, we had to give him the standard 2 science & 1 non-science letters, and could have four additional letters, as part of the process. Supposedly, along with our committee letter he sends what he feels were the "strongest three". So hopefully those who knew me best were included in that.
 
Just got the further status. Hopefully after sending in my new grades and possibly an update letter, I'll receive the coveted interview invite!

I interviewed Nov 2. I think you should call the admissions office and ask them to check your status since it has been almost 6 weeks with no updates. But don't worry too much about it..some people get accepted without even getting the hold message (check the 2008 thread).
 
Interviewed today! It was my first interview, went a lot better than I thought.

GPA: 3.55 sGPA: 3.6
MCAT: 32
 
To everyone who interviewed a while ago but has not had a status change from the survey page - I called the office and they told me that I was on hold. For whatever reason, it just isn't reflected in my status. I think that's probably the situation some people who have had the survey status for a while are in as well. But if you're concerned, give the office a call, they're very nice and helpful.

Now back to waiting..

if you are accepted....otherwise, the wait continues.

and technically, you will find out via the status page because all the e-mail says is that your status has changed within the last 24 hours.

last year, it seems the magic time was ~6:05pm
 
I interviewed on 12/8. What are the chances that they get to my file on Monday so that I would hear on the 15th, anyone?

I would say that if you haven't received the hold status post-interview, they most likely haven't gotten to you yet.
 
i interviewed 11/03 and have never received a "on hold" msg

They usually have their committee meetings on Mondays, so if your interviewer makes it to this upcoming Monday's meeting, you could hear on the 15th.
 
I got the 'further review' status yesterday. does everyone who get this status get an interview?

No. The status explicitly says that not everyone gets an interview.

There are some of us who have had the "further" status for at least two months. Be patient - I'm expecting the "further" people to hear back after the holidays. Though, hopefully it is good news.

I skimmed through last year's thread and it seems that not many people who received the may/further status late in the process (November) got any interviews. There was a guy with a "very interested" status that didn't even get an interview. Apparently, by this time, most of the interview slots are filled up...sigh...the odds are against us.

Yeah, I'm starting to lose hope. I got the "may" status back in September and was feeling pretty darn optimistic. Nearly 3 months later...not so much. It's definitely more complex of a process than the five statuses would make it seem.

I don't think its necessarily too bad. They interview late into the season, though for those in the "further" category we need an invite by February, otherwise its game over lol, as per the status. But they haven't been inviting for interview too far into the future. Even the invites that went out just the other week for the rest of this month.

I received the "further" status in early October. Still holding out some hope since I saw someone else from October get an invite recently. But as UCD pointed out, its more complicated than the statuses make it seem out to be.

I got the hold message last week. Interviewed on Nov 17th. Waitlisted at U-Mich - basically a rejection (but I guess they didn't have the gonads). As of today, it has been 4 months and 2 days since I was complete at UVA, and still no word. I think I'll go complain on that thread... That's all my schools, and it looks like VCU is my last best chance.

My only concern with them is the curriculum change appears to hit this year's class square on the head. Anyone know more about it?
 
Anyone have any idea when my status would change if they got to my file at the adcom meeting today? I interviewed last week and was hoping they'd get to my file today so I could potentially hear something on Wednesday, rather than having to wait until freakin' February.

Do you mean UVA's new curriculum? I dont remember VCU having a new curriculum for this year, but i think they are trying to input a new one in a couple years or so

The new curriculum is coming online in 2012 according to the website. I would assume this wouldn't effect the 2015 class.
 
Hey all, I received an interview invite from VCU on Nov 30, and scheduled my interview for Dec 16. My secondary application was complete at VCU in mid-October after which I received the "hold status." I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Ms. Whitehurst Cook who was very warm and responsive -I hope the interview takes the same tone. Is anyone else interviewing on Dec 16th? Any tips from those who have interviewed? Much thanks.

Good luck to everyone eligible to receive an acceptance today. May we all get in so that the painful wait can be over. 🙂

Just a reminder for those who might not be aware, the October acceptance notifications were delayed this year which led to all kinds of confusion and conjecture on this thread. Hopefully we will not have a repeat performance this time around, but figured I would raise it as a possibility.

To those who do receive an acceptance therefore, please post your acceptance as soon as you find out so that others can be sure the e-mail has gone out.

Congratulations in advance to everyone that gets in. 🙂
 
I got the "hold" status this morning, so I hope that means they got to everyone that interviewed 12/7 and we will find out tonight. Good luck to everyone! This would be an extremely quick turnaround!

I got a "hold" email at 9:17 AM, interviewed 11/29, does this mean I will find out today? Or they are still considering me and I'll have to wait some indefinite period of time before they reject me, lol.

everybody gets a hold message before you get your final decision so today i guess you will find out if you are accepted/rejected/WL or considered for a later date February or March

Getting the hold message is a good sign, it means you aren't rejected (at least right away). You will only hear something today if you are accepted. If not, you will have to wait until at least Feb. After the last batch of acceptances in March, that is when you are rejected or waitlisted if you aren't accepted by then. :luck:

I do hope it'll be on time but people in the admissions office did tell us on my interview day that it MIGHT NOT be exactly Dec. 15th, but decisions will for sure go out around the 15th. Gahh, i've been so antsy since i got my hold status! Hoping today's the day, good luck everyone :luck:
 
Unfortunately, since my earlier post today, I have been told by someone on the admissions committee that we might not hear anything today due to ongoing issues within the admissions office.

I continue to hold out hope of an e-mail later today, but wanted to share want I had learned in case it helps. I can't imagine them messing this up again - not after what happened in October.
 
Just called the admissions office-- update statuses will definitely be sent out today after 6pm ET. Good luck everyone-- good thoughts!!!!
