didn't this happen in the last acceptance round, dec. 15? i don't think they heard until the 17th or 18th of december...ugh, the wait is KILLING ME!!!

no it worked fine on dec. 15, 2010 but they were a day late sending it out for the dec. 15 date in 2009.

no news here either....i guess its off to march 16 🙁🙁🙁

This actually happened on the first round of acceptances in october. I interviewed the first week of September and they delayed it by a couple of days.

Although, if you are still on hold, you will not get any email at all tonight. Maybe people who have been accepted haven't replied to the thread yet? Who knows!
 
well the e-mail definitely should have been sent out by now....

seems like only a couple of SDN folks got in on this date last year, but NO ONE??? come on!
 
based on what they said during my interview a few weeks back, they're behind b/c of christmas break. i kinda expected them to not have a response on feb 1.
 
what a bust, i hope they're not having trouble with their servers AGAIN.
 
Well the good part about this is that we won't know when to expect a potential offer, versus knowing the exact time and agonizingly waiting for that time to pass!
 
So as of right now, no one knows if the notifications went out already?
 
Nope, no notifications seem to have gone out today.

it seems unlikely that it has been sent out, seeing that no one has been accepted. i know this doesn't mean much, but there has always been a few people on these forums that received acceptances. but, it is possible that it has been sent out and we're just really unlucky.
 
That is pretty unlikely. If you look at the bottom of this page, it says that 25 members and 88 guests are looking at this thread. If 113 people are looking at this and not announcing their acceptance..that would be a first for SDN!

This has happened a few times before. Just be patient and emails will probably come tomorrow (maybe??).

yea i was looking back at the october date and there was all sorts of confusion. they didn't get a notification until october 19.

i'm pretty sure nothing has been sent out yet...

I called the office. They said offers did go out yesterday.
 
accepted this morning! =D i guess they didn't send it out yesterday!!
 
anyone else getting the late notices? I interviewed in mid october... this is really ridiculous. they could at least update you telling you are still on hold until the next update status.

they could also at least have the financial aid officer show up like they are supposed to, at least post decisions when they say they will, and at least not change your interviewer the day of, leaving you stuck with a pretentious/unprofessional/biased student interviewer...what a sorry excuse for their state funding
 
I really hate the way they send out acceptances. I interviewed in October and have been on hold ever since. I'm kind of just over this school at this point. I'd rather just have them rip off the bandaid and tell me if I'll end up rejected rather than string me a long for 3+ months. 😡
 
Hi all, accepted as well. Got the email at 10:19am. I completely agree that this is not an optimal system to keep us anxious applicants updated!
 
I don't get it. I have a 38R, cum laude BS in chem from William and Mary (2 years early), over a year of lab research, in-state, working since the summer in a clinic as a medical assistant. I've been wait-listed at UVA, U-Mich, and I've been on hold from VCU since October. I was told that if I couldn't get in to a state school, I couldn't get in anywhere, so I didn't over-apply. Now it's looking like I'll have to re-apply next year...

Anyone know if VCU looks favorably on being bothered? Is sending letters of interest, additional recs of any use for this "hold" status? I know UVA still encourages additional material from wait-listed students.
 
If anything, it looks like the server was backed up and acceptances are going out today at weird times.

joojoobee, what time did you receive your acceptance?

Well even if we don't get a status update e-mail, the status website should still be correct no? I checked mine and I'm still on hold. I have a feeling that means no decision for me this round. Time for a letter of interest!

I received an acceptance email around the same time. Yes, there system sucks and they need to FIX IT!!

As I recall from earlier in this thread, the adcom does not want any type of updates/LOI nor will they affect our current "score". Can someone verify this is the case? (if not I'll definitely write out a nice letter lol)

Yes I'm almost positive that's true. I think the Dean even said on my interview day that once the adcom has discussed you and your number is set, it's set and it isn't going to change no matter how many letters you send.

i agree. Dr. WC said explicitly that it doesn't make a difference.
 
i was also accepted yesterday morning 10:19am after waiting since my interview on September 8th. Now THAT was anxiety, many months.
I'm out of state also

Does vcu have a tendency to accept instate ppl towards the last acceptance date? Bc I go to a public university in va and most of my colleagues who seem to be well qualified for vcu have not heard back since they interviewed early in the cycle. Or are my friends and i just dumb?...

Well VCU is state funded so their preference is in state. I would think they would accept their quota of in state students before accepting out of state (hence my nearly 5 month wait after interview). but, then again, there are other out of state students who were accepted in october, so I really have no idea. Whatever priority score they give you must be the kicker, and resident status would just likely be factored into that score.

My interviewer said they are roughly half and half is and oos, and actually have two separate lists to keep it even.
