Have fun, Cinclus...I decided to punt on this one because with the likelihood of not getting a match for any of my several scholarship elsewhere it has become unnecessary for me to travel to Houston. I really wanted to go to Baylor, but alas, such is life! BRIGHT SPOTLIGHT - There's going to be a BCM acceptance coming to a town near some lucky birdie somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dream is still alive guys! Im an OOS interviewed on 9/2 was put on the wait list and got the call Friday afternoon 🙂 😍
 
Congrats! Interviewed on the same day so hopefully they're looking at the rest of us too!

Haha, that's reassuring. I've sent 5-6, some email and some snail mail to various deans. Part of me was scared they'd get annoyed, but you're right; I shouldn't be scared to voice my love towards the school. 😀 You are another example of why I want to attend BCM. I was just as impressed by my fellow interviewees as the facilities, staff, and ambiance. I felt like it was surreal being at the TMC. It is a doctor's playground and is second to none.

Rub it in my, man🙁! I just wish they had more love than the full IS tuition for 4 years that they offered (I'm OOS obviously). Even FIU which I assume should have less funds than BCM put up some beaucoup bucks to woo me so this one still hurts. Just officially released my seat a few minutes ago. I think Fearlesshyena will be getting it👍! Who else had a jaw-drop at close to 10K in 'fees'. Totally burst my bubble seeing that the fees were more expensive than the value of the full ride IS :scared:. I wish I was an oil-miner's son...I'd be going to BCM.

Damn. I love Miller, but all I got were loans, 280000. Baylor will be cheaper. I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes.

Jeebus Christmas, bruh! Okay...I hope you get my spot coz you will not be looking at more than $160,000 at BCM even without a scholarship.

I withdrew too. Did you send an email and to who? I didnt get a reply to my email yet, so just wondering
 
What did you guys write for the update letters? I sent a letter of intent and update a month ago, but I'm struggling to find out what else I should write since I pretty much covered everything in one letter. BCM is my top choice, and I'm dying for any acceptance now but I'm not sure how to communicate that.

Emailed admission office - Mrs Miller-Wasik I believe. No response yet...but not expecting one either...they have not been very responsive throughout this decision-making process🙁!
 
Recently accepted off the waitlist and super-excited to show my BCM pride! Does anybody know if this is a legit site to get BCM merchandise/apparel? I'm looking for things like t-shirts and track jackets and wasn't sure if this is a licensed/BCM-endorsed website or just a potential scam.

I'm pretty sure the site's legit, and I think BCM had it's own shop where you can buy that kind of stuff in person. Congrats on getting into Baylor! I look forward to meeting you and Bro Dude in July! 🙂

the "BCM Store" is located downstairs at UTH....aka...you can buy some BCM stuff there too lol. if you want a BCM T-shirt, i would wait for class to being b/c there are usually different clubs/organizations, classes (MS1s, MS2s, etc) and even programs (MD, PA, etc) that sell BCM shirts. but if you can't wait, that site is legit.

I didn't manage to make it to second look as I was out of town...so, was wondering if I could get any materials handed out at second look or any crucial info etc. that would be helpful?

Accepted today as well! Was already set on going to UTH. This is going to be a hard decision
 
Hey guys!

I just got accepted to Baylor (SO EXCITED) and withdrew from my other acceptances today. I'm from Florida so not super familiar with Houston but I'm trying to find places to live. Do any Houstonians know what neighborhoods are nice and where med students usually live? And also, what is this I hear about financial problems that Baylor is having? What does that mean?
 
I know June 1 is the last day for in state students to be offered, but was wondering if Baylor is likely to send out acceptances past yesterday/for how long?

Congrats fellow Floridian classmate! Baylor addressed the "financial problems" question at 2nd look by pretty much saying they're not having any more financial problems than anyone else during these rough economic times, and that concerns were blown way out of proportion a few years back. They're doing very well, we were assured. 🙂

I'm not from the Houston area (I'm from Dallas), so I have no idea where the good places to live would be for a med student. Where do most Baylor/UTH students live? Cost? Distance from TMC?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!
 
Has anyone OOS been accepted from the WL, perhaps since 5/15?

A random aside...BCM does (as mentioned above) seem to sneak in some fairly high fees versus its attractive tuition. This might help explain why average total debt for those who incurred medical school debt has been $80k for BCM versus, say, $120k at much higher tuition, also-private Emory...
also, fully 2/3 @ Emory receive grants/scholarships (higher than the 51% @ cheaper Baylor). Just a surmise...source: comparative 2007 data

Damndinosaur said that he is from Texas, the Dallas area...last year,some Baylor acceptances were clearly offered in late May-- 5 were reported on SDN between 5/26 and 5/28, then a sprinkling in June, and even as late as early July.
