Ahh problem solved...they sent a second e-mail shortly after, and it turned up in my spam box. Try checking there to see? This was my first med school e-mail to end up there. If you have the same Interview Day as me, then it's actually Tuesday, Sept. 20 and you must confirm by 8 am on Thursday, Sept. 15.

That's the first interview date for Grand Rapids. Can't wait to see all the nervous interviewees 🙂. Good luck!! :luck::luck:

Interview invite for 9/22!! Shockingly, it is a date I can make and will already be in Lansing for! 😀 Hope to see some of you there :luck:

Got one today for the GR campus, unfortunately I had to reschedule it but wooooooooooooo

Interview invite for 10/6
I am in state, and was complete 8/17. Need to reschedule though!

For those of us who were Early Decision at MSU and interviewed on 9/15, the decision committee will meet on 9/27 and notifications will begin 9/28.

Cheers, and good luck to everyone I met on the 15th!

Good luck to you guys!!! I'm interviewing this week and I'm really excited to go visit MSU. 🙂

Just rescheduled mine from 10/6 to 10/20! Can't wait.

Well, we have officially finished our first wave of exams. We had medical biochemistry and physiology last week, and we just finished anatomy today. It's crazy how much I studied. 14-hour days of studying (8am-10pm) no longer phase me. Anyways, it feels great to be done! 75% is passing here and 85% is considered "mastery." All classes are P/F and there is no ranking within the class. I like this because it does't feel like I'm competing with my classmates. Instead it actually feels like teamwork... I want my classmates to do well!

Many people learned that procrastination doesn't work in med school. Make sure you learn that lesson as early as possible.

I can't wait to see the first wave of interviewees at the secchia center this week! If you are interested in meeting up, talking about chm, getting breakfast, or need anything at all feel free to PM me.

Gotta love in state love!

Our medical schools in Michigan are pretty rockin'. Just saying.

I've been in Cleveland and have had an Ohio license for over a year, so I am a likely an Ohio resident now.

But, MSU is pretty awesome. Very respected school in Michigan.

+1 to all of that! Can't wait to see all of the interviewees today. Just relax, you'll do fine.

MSU sends out IIs to instate applicants first then OOS applicants second right?

does anyone know the timeline for out of state?

They will get to you 🙂

i hope so,

its so tough to be optimistic when you don't hear anything for days at a time, I know its a long cycle but I have never applied for anything with this long of a cycle so I don't have anything to base my "they haven't said anything in x# of days, I must be rejected" scares on.

thank-you for the encouragement!!

I'm IS and haven't heard anything since being complete on August 19th. I feel your anguish, friend.

My interview would be at GR (next month). Do they interview at both EL and GR?

I am currently living outside of the US so therefore my permanent address is not a US address, I am looking to change that in December, get my US drivers license, get my permanent address changed, I can likely do this over thanksgiving or reading week if I wish, my address will be a michigan address, not for the purposes of having in state tuition, which obviously wouldn't be possible at this point but for having a michigan address would it be worth doing earlier rather than later?

I can't imagine that this will have much of an impact on your application, given your circumstances. As far as showing an interest in Michigan itself, either your past (i.e. where you grew up) or a reasonable explanation for your future plans for Michigan would be appropriate for either the application or interview. A driver's license isn't really going to imply your intentions, I wouldn't think. This is just my guess though.

Thanks for your response. I'm more focused on the change of address. Still nothing?

Your best bet would be to call admissions and ask them if you're concerned about it. Although I can't imagine that a Michigan address in the presence of non-Michigan residency will change much, especially if you acquire this address in December, after having already submitted your application. If you're concerned about demonstrating ties to Michigan, an address or a drivers license might not be as illustrative as, say, a description about why you're tied there.

Where you worked and filed taxes is huge for determining residency. They will want to see your taxes and/or you parents taxes if you are still their dependent.

For the purposes of tuition, yes. It's less clear when determining likelihood to contribute to a physician workforce though, which is much more open to interpretation.

alright, thanks guys!

So I have an interview nearby MSU (at Wayne State) next month. is it ok if i send an update letter and see if they can kinda squeeze me in for an interview then? or is it better to call and ask? Thanks!

- i'm complete but no interview yet

did anyone get an email after scheduling their interview? I'm refering to this:

"Your CHM Interview Day has been scheduled. You will receive an email message within three business days with a link to the online Interview Day Guide, which provides detailed information about Interview Day (itinerary, required forms, directions, parking, etc)."

It's been about a week and I still haven't gotten anything.

I would think that would be a bad move on your part. Comes off a bit cocky. Just wait like the rest of us 🙂

I don't think it can hurt to ask. The worst they can say is no. I would especially encourage this if you are from farther away. Maybe try an email. I sent all of my updates through email and each time they were added to my file. Let us know if it works =).

I shall do this! I am coming from another country... but not crazy far  Thanks!

I didn't pay my fee within two weeks... 🙁 I realize they said my application *may* be withdrawn. How do I know if this actually happens? I contacted the adcom... no reply yet.

o ****!! i forgot to pay also, let me know what happens..

Same thing happened to me. Don't know if I should consider still turning in the secondary.

Last year I used the "in the area" method to "ask" for an interview (at a different school) and it worked. There is a fine line between cocky and appropriate though. It'd be better to phrase it like "just letting you know that I'll be traveling and will be in your area during ___ part of ___ month". No need to add "so if you're going to give me an interview just do it already", it's implied that that's why you're calling, and it's best to not sound presumptuous about whether you'll get an interview. Admissions, along with the entire CHM, really cares about the people they work with. I would think they would understand your comment as you offering a chance for them to help you out financially with the burden of interviewing by you not having to make multiple trips, or at least this is one way that request could be interpreted.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot! I definitely will not be cocky, especially since I didn't get an interview last time I applied there haha. Hopefully they'll be nice 😉
By the way did you call in or email?
