Just got an interview invite on Tuesday, so they're still happening. Definitely made my day, as it was the first new II since mid-December.

Submitted 10/11/11, "Complete" 12/14/11

Also, this is my first SDN post after lurking for months. Feels good.

Congratulations! What day are you interviewing and what options did they give you if you don't mind me asking?

I wish I could correct you, but that seems to be the general consensus.

Anyone out there still getting interview invites? I interviewed 12/16 and sadly was put on hold with the majority of people. Any news from people with later interview dates?
Checked the portal just now and saw that I've been put on hold. Interviewed on 1/6.

I was rejected 2/17....best of luck to all undecided, and if accepted and that is your status, ENJOY OHSU!

They gave me options of March 2, 9, 15, 16, and 23. I'll be there on the 9th.

Hope your logic is correct. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya 🙂 Lord knows we've waited long enough.
I still haven't heard anything. Guess it was silly to think 3 days' difference would still equal 3 days in OHSU-land. I think they've got some serious time dilation going on... :meanie:

The waiting is driving me crazy! I wanna know if I'm waiting for no reason. My MCAT was 27 and my GPA is 3.6. I am also Hispanic which should help maybe? What are my chances?

OHSU is pretty much known for its waiting. When were you complete? Have you been checking the portal?

Complete 11/23. I've checked the portal everyday for the last month or so, still says on hold for an interview pending further review. They have to know by now don't they?

I've been on pre-interview hold since September...you may have some waiting yet to do. 😉

Got an II the other day! Very excited--here's hoping for those of you still waiting 🙂

does ohsu get back to u about ur hold in early May or late May? I believe lots of schools require that I commit to their school by May and reject all other acceptance, so I'm wondering what the timing of that would be. Cuz I have an acceptance, but i'm still waiting on the OHSU decision.

OHSU gets back to you around the same time as all your other decisions are made (~May 15th). What that means is that you need to figure out which one of those other acceptances you want to hold and than maybe you will get called in off OHSU's holdlist.

If I applied MD/PhD and I'm on hold right now, is there a possibility that I might hear a final decision at the end of March (after they make their final MD/PhD selection)? I remember them saying that at some point the MD/PhD program will release our application to the regular pool and our score will be recalculated to exclude our MD/PhD score.

I just logged into the portal and saw I was put on Hold two days ago...lame. I interviewed 1/23. Well at least I didn't get rejected!! Here's to waiting till May to hear more.

Rgll,

I interviewed for MD/PhD last cycle. I interviewed in Jan, was accepted MD in Feb (hold for MD/PhD), and was then accepted MD/PhD mid-March. I think they decide before May. Hope that helps.

Is there a possibility? Sure, but none of us can tell you how likely that is.

The MD/PhD program has a rank list for its applicants. As of a few weeks ago, a subset of the spots had been offered. Because MD/PhD interview season ended last week, the rest of the initial offers have probably just been made or will be made very soon.

OHSU will never offer more MD/PhD acceptances than its total number of MD/PhD slots, so if you are 6th, 7th, etc on the preference list, you won't be offered an acceptance (or a final decision) until the accepted students make their final decisions. This could be early, or it could be late. Sometimes, other students get off a waitlist in May and drop an acceptance then. I didn't get in to the program until June, for what it's worth.

congratulations! it may have taken more than 3 days you were hoping but at least it came! when are you interviewing?

Thanks! I'm certainly not complaining about the slight extra wait 🙂 I'm interviewing in about 2 weeks.

Received an II this morning. I'm OOS and submitted my secondary after receiving one of the letters that went out in early February encouraging people to apply. Very excited to interview here, I've heard nothing but great things.

Congrats! When are you interviewing/what days did they give you as options?

I've just been invited for an interview at OHSU, any advice as far as the multiple mini interviews go? many thanks!

As cliche as it may sound, I would say just relax. The MMI circuit goes by super fast.

Do they ask pretty conventional questions or something else? Have you had this type of interviews before?

Just accepted via e-mail, was placed on hold at the end of Feb 🙂

They have you sign a waiver agreeing to not disclose information about the MMI questions. You have only a couple weeks till you interview. Just relax.

Interviewed back in November and placed on hold sometime in late January. Just got acceptance email today.

The best advice has already been given by Robert Heinlein:

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.”

If you can do all, that you'll be fine on MMI day. 👍

Especially the "fight efficiently" part. At OHSU it's really more of a MMI/MMA hybrid. 😉

ditto. Being on hold isn't a bad thing at this point. I'm predicting that within the first ~2 weeks of March quite a few people on hold will be hearing back from OHSU. This is b/c according to the AAMC traffic rules, the AAMC recommends that all med schools fill their classes by March 30th. And from this forum it doesn't seem like a lot of acceptances have gone out.

From AAMC Traffic Rules:
By March 30 of the matriculation year, March 15 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services.

Interviewed back in November and placed on hold sometime in late January. Just got acceptance email today.

Congrats!!!!!!!! Seems like Docgirl2016's prediction is coming true! I wonder how many people have gone from hold to acceptance.

For those people accepted, do you mind sharing if you plan on actually attending ohsu or do you plan to decline the offer?

Show me the $$$$ OHSU and I will matriculate at a heartbeat!...so in essence it all depends on the financial aid package. OHSU is definitely one of my top choices so I'm just praying I get a good financial aid package

Sorry to deliver bad news, but at OHSU, financial aid = loans. There really aren't any scholarships until MS2+ (and those are in the low 1000s I believe). OHSU doesn't have a large endowment for student scholarships. Plan to pay full rate unless you are a PhD admit or swing one of the new scholarships from the $10mill gift recently given...and there were only 4 of those granted last year in the entire school.
