For those that interviewed on November 7th - did Dr. Peterson say that December 15th was the date we'd be hearing back, or was it just "around" this time? Can't recall. Best of luck everyone!

I remember around mid December.
 
The waiting is killing me. I just want to find out if I am either: accepted, waitlisted, or rejected. Hopefully, it is acceptance. 😀 That way it allows me to stop worrying about it.

I interviewed on Nov. 14th. I believe the Dean said that they were either going to meet this week or next and that some of us would know something by mid-Dec, but if our status did not update by the Christmas break, then we would have to wait until they came back in Jan. :scared: :luck: :xf:
 
This is what appears in my status page:
*Your initial review is complete. We ask for your continued patience as we proceed with the interview status decision process, which will conclude by March 1st.

So how long do I have to wait now? :/

I know exactly how you feel! It would be so nice if schools could generate a decision before you leave on interview day 😛

I think Palo Verde is probably your best bet if you're looking for a comfortable cheaper apartment (it comes unfurnished though). Palo verde also doesn't have the parking problems that have plagued some of the more expensive sites.
Verano Place is less expensive but from what I've heard, the units aren't as nice.
As the price tag increases for grad housing, the rooms become a bit nicer and some will come with new furniture etc... but from visiting classmates' apartments, the pricer apartments have a cramped/overstuffed feel because of lower square footage
Off-campus housing is a solid option, and a lot of your classmates will live in Newport/Huntington/and Laguna Beach, so be sure to check that out as well.
Maybe when you guys end up making your class google group/fb group/whatever you can ask current first years to post photos of the insides of their different apartment complexes/how much their rent is

I've been on the waitlist to be interviewed for months...how likely is it they'll interview people off of the alternate interview waitlist?

How long does it take to hear back from them...?? post submitting the secondary?

What do you mean by a "waitlist?" Is there a waitlist after the "we ask for continued patience" status?

Remember that it is not definite. As long as it is not a rejection, you should not consider yourself out of the running.

Has anyone from the November 14th interviews received any notifications? I can not stop worrying about it and checking my email, status page, and phone constantly.

Hey Person X,

I also interviewed on November 14th. At the interview day, if you remember, Dr. Peterson said that the committee meeting for our batch of applications was scheduled for the week of December 12th.

I called the admissions office recently to ask about update letters(to which they are receptive), and I also asked about the committee meeting. I was told that the meeting would most likely be later in the week(Thur 12/15 or Fri 12/16) and that Dr. Peterson wouldn't start making phone calls for acceptances until the week after.

Moral of the story: relax! Our applications have not gone to committee yet, and we've still got at least a week to go before we hear anything.

No, I think after being under review, you can get 1 of 3 statuses: rejection, You are on the alternate list for an interview, and Your initial review is complete, please be patient blah blah. I think most (if not all) people who got interview invites passed through the "Your initial review is complete" stage for varying amounts of time. See pages 6-8 of this thread.

Nope. It's the status before an interview invite letting you know they like you (but not enough to give you an interview right now 🙁).

I have a question about the acceptance process here. If you get the letter and they want the "Intent to Register" filled out within 2 weeks, does this mean you're saying "i'm going to your school for sure". Or can I fill out the intent to register and still withdraw from the school later if I get into another school that I would prefer?
 
Does anyone know how long it takes for them to offer an interview? I have been waiting with an initial review complete for a month 🙁
Anyone have any ideas if we can send a letter of interest to them before getting an interview invite?

+1, UCI is my top choice, and I've been stuck at initial review complete for quite a while.

Some people had "initial review complete" for a few days or a week before an invite, and others, like me, have had it for months (since mid-August). No telling when or if anything will change.

I emailed them an update in October, and they replied to say it would be added to my file. So I would say you can send them something if you like. I have no evidence it will help, but it doesn't seem to hurt.
 
Just got put on the alternate list. I interviewed in mid November. Didn't get an email, had to go check the website to see.

Congratulations! Has anyone else been accepted? My status change has not changed at all. I am from the 11/14 day. :luck: Keeping my fingers crossed.:xf:
 
UNDER REVIEW since Dec 7th...

how long does it take to get a status update..I keep checking my status nonstop everyday 🙁

According to Ironclad, they were going to make calls or update the statuses this week, but to me it seems like we might have to wait until January to know anything.

I interviewed on Nov 14th. Any info would be appreciated? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Hey Person X,

After speaking with the admissions office, it seems as though the decisions made from our committee meeting are being entered. I would keep a close eye on your status page for any updates, as you should be receiving one before Christmas according to the admissions office. If you don't receive anything around then, I would definitely call the office once they're back from vacation to make sure your file was reviewed at the last committee meeting.

I am still hoping for an acceptance at UCI. :xf: It seems that the interviewees from 11/14 did not get reviewed or entered into the system at the last ExComm meeting. Does anyone know when the next ExComm meeting will be in January? Is it as soon as they get back from the break or more like mid-way through the month? When does Irvine SOM employees go back to work: 1st week of January or 2nd week?

This waiting is killing me. :scared:

We will see what happens in January. As soon as I hear something from UCI, I will start withdrawing from some of the other places, but until that happens the game is still on.

everyone will be back by january 3.. adcom meeting will probably be next week. dr. peterson's call could be anytime after that though, so no need to count days/hours/etc. i know it's super difficult, but try not to let the waiting bug you. you can't change things right now, so enjoy new year's eve.
 
Thank you for the info Coloredcrayons. I will definitely enjoy my New Year's Eve! However, I just can't wait to know what is going to happen.
