the "initial review is complete" status means that some members of the admissions committee have looked over and considered your application, but it hasn't completed the process which determines if you'll get an interview invite, hold, or rejection. you just need to hold tight.

Hey everyone,

I've been complete since before August, and have had the "Your initial review is complete. We ask for your continued patience as we proceed with the interview status decision process, which will conclude by March 1st." status since early August. Any once else in this situation? Or has anyone experienced this three month delay and still received an interview recently? Or should I be expecting a rejection soon?

so before.. when i went to the link i tried a few times but it wouldn't let me register a UCInetID account.. this was a few days ago... but now it let's me register and I interviewed in sept.

I have a student ID and can register, as well. I interviewed September 20. I suspect its so we can register for financial aid if we're on the waitlist. I don't think it means anything, sadly. 🙁

I'd just like to know when we're going to hear something . . . I'd love to potentially withdraw from other interviews (or, haha, know that I have to go on other interviews).

Since mid-Sep. Although It seems like there hasn't been that many new interview invites given out lately.

I was complete 8/8. Intial Review complete status sometime last week. Interview invite 10/27. Definitely still hope!
 
I interviewed in the first group and my status page doesn't have any updates... if you don't mind me asking, where are you guys relatively in the alphabet? I hope that doesn't mean I'm rejected :-/ I heard Irvine waitlists most people who end up going.

don't i friggin wish. alternate list as well. first half of the alphabet lol...

Question: Does anybody know if alternate list means you're waitlisted until the end of the cycle after they have finished all the interviews, or if it just means you weren't in the initial wave of acceptances?
 
Accepted by phone call (which I missed!). Interviewed on the first day. Very cool!

Well I called, alternate list = waitlist, and they do not start pulling from the alternate list until after May 15. Also, last year they had 400-500 people on the alternate list.
 
Hi All,
Could any of those who have interviewed elaborate a bit on the interview day? Perhaps the scheduling of it/what to expect?

^does this means they don't reject, just toss everyone into the waitlist? also, is the waitlist ranked?
 
Got an interview invite for the PRIME-LC program. Does anyone know what they might be asking on interview day?
 
Does UCI consider an applicant separately for PRIME and its general admissions?

Applicants are considered for general admission first. If accepted, the application is then forwarded to the PRIME-LC folks.

The folks on the waitlist aren't numerically ranked, but the waitlist is divided into an upper half and a lower half.
 
Yep, September 20th! I got the message from the Dean, but haven't gotten anything else (either in mail/email). Has anyone else? I just want to make sure I accept the offer haha

Congrats! 🙂 They'll mail you an acceptance packet soon. I remember getting my acceptance call on a Sunday and received the acceptance packet on the following Thursday.

I wouldn't read too much into it. I was able to register an ID and submitted my secondary not too long ago.

BTW, for those of you wondering about secondaries, primary verified 10/4, notification of application received email plus secondary invite email 10/11
 
I just got an interview invite but there were only two dates available, neither of which I will be able to go. Will they release more?

Congrats on the invite! I would either email or call and ask the office for additional dates.

whether they have handed out most of the IIs they plan to this year.

They're paying for the first year (verizon), but that's it. Honestly I've never had to use it, since I have wifi at my apartment and on campus (the only places I study).
 
Rejection through status page. Kind of surprised I wasn't at least put on the interview alternate list. Bummed...UCI was my top choice.

People still get invites (and acceptances) well into the next year (January-April-ish). Try not to stress too much. It's much too early to lose hope already.
 
I don't think I've ever posted on SDN before...I've been a lurker for many years...even during my MCAT days. I hate to admit it...but I'm a SDN addict.

I figured its time to pay it forward and actually post, hopefully giving all you fellow SDN members and lurkers some hope.

I'm an average IS applicant, average MCAT (31), average GPA (3.5)...even pretty average looking, haha. Although I guess I'm tall for being an Asian male...most of my application is fairly average. I'd like to think my strengths are in activities, although in a pool of 120843048324 applicants, they are also probably pretty average.

I was complete at UCI 8/8 and under review until today, where I just received and interview invite 😱! If there's hope for me, there's hope for all of you. Just to give a heads up, absolutely NO email notifications, even after I scheduled my interview...so check your online status daily. Also...one day each in December, January, Febuary and March are all open. I'll be there December 12th and looking forward to meeting other applicants and a shot at attending this awesome school.

but just curious... you were under review all that time? it didn't change to "initial review complete" at any point?

8/8 complete, under review 2 for two weeks, switch to "initial review complete" which got me all nervous...then I got bored waiting around for 2 months...and then "interview awarded" today 11/7.
