I got a secondary today after being relatively certain I would not receive a single one from any of the UCs. 3.1GPA/35 MCAT, non-traditional, UCLA undergrad.

There is hope!

I still won't get in, but whateva.

c'mon alma mater, why you gotta play me like this? for 4 years i gave you nothin but love (and $$$) and this is how you repay me...?

still waiting for secondary...

I got the "we have received your app" email back on July 19th and still haven't heard anything....anyone else in a similar position?

i got a we've received your application and is being screened email. and the wait begins.

question: how many school have you guys applied to? everyone sounds like they're submitting secondaries almost everyday

Submitted today! 🙂 No chance, but I've always loved UCLA (wanted to do undergrad there too) so I'll give it a shot.

anyway someone could put a date verfiied/date recieved combo for the secondary?

verified 6/23, secondary received 7/27

I got worried waiting for this secondary, but it came eventually, so there's always hope 🙂

Well 7/27 was the first day anyone got the secondary because that's the day it was released. There's a difference, although I agree that the above poster shouldn't lose hope yet. If you're screened by hand it can take a while

can anyone post the questions for those of us who haven't yet received the prompt

Describe involvement in the .ONE. most important .non-academic activity. that has been important in your life?

What has been the .ONE. most unique .leadership, entrepreneurial or creative activity. in which you participated?

What has been the .ONE. most important .volunteer work. you have done and why was it meaningful?

Has there been a gap .greater than one year. between achieving your baccalaureate degree, and/or
consecutive degrees before applying to medical school? (yes or no). If yes, please explain.

What is the .ONE. most important .honor. you have received? Why do you view this as important?

What has been your most .scholarly project. (thesis, research or field of study in basic or clinical science or in the humanities)? Describe one and give number of hours, dates and advisor.

Describe a .problem. in your life. Include how you dealt with it and how it influenced your growth.

List major .paid work experience. during (or since) college. Give dates, description, approximate hours worked (list the most recent first).

If there is any .hardship. to which you would like the committee to give special attention in evaluating your application, then check the box labeled 'Hardship' and briefly explain why you are indicating a hardship. Include any geographic, language, economic, academic, physical, or mental factors.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What experiences have led you to this goal?

(800 char. max)

there you go 🙂

Has anyone been rejected pre-secondary?

I ask because my primary is still verifying, but I've begun to tackle this slew of essays. I just realized my time may be better spent elsewhere if there's not a good chance of me receiving one (I'm IS, lowish stats)

Cheers!

Yay, got a secondary today! It was in my junk folder, though, so just a heads up.

so on the UCLA site it says it discourages 3rd time reapplicants.

How serious are they about that? do they not even consider 3rd reapplicants?

As a third time reapplicant should I even bother applying to UCLA?

Does anyone know where to find the phone number for the admissions office? I can't seem to find it in the emails or on the website.

MSAR says 310.825.6081

EDIT: Also, it's at the bottom of the e-mail with subject "Medical School Supplemental Invite"

Any IS people who got early secondaries last year still waiting? I'm thinking about calling.

haven't received the secondary still...IS, applied in early July. Think I may still start up on these.

so the character max is 800 on each essay? good lord, that is so short for some of them - can someone verify this please? thanks!

having difficulty with the "describe a problem in your life. Include how you dealt with it and how it influenced your growth."

sorry stupid question, wondering if this should be a personal problem/disadvantaged or could it be along the lines of school group dynamic trouble you faced.

Submitted my primary to UCLA a week ago. Here's to the looooooooooong wait... good luck to you all!

What's the current time delay from receiving the "we've received your app" email until people are getting the secondary?

Happy Saturday everybody! Just wanted to stop by and see how you are all doing... Just a heads up, UCLA's admissions process operates on a pretty late time schedule. Interview invites may not even go out until late October or early November if this year is at all like last year. Besides that, good luck on the pretty extensive secondary- it's long, but it definitely matters. :luck:

I got the "we've received your app" email on 8/19 and then got the secondary a couple hours later. OOS

I received the "medical school application receipt" email from UCLA on July 19, but have not received the secondary yet...

I'm IS, GPA > 3.7 and MCAT > 35, graduated from UCLA undergrad

Just wondering if I should call admissions and bug them about it or if this is a normal thing with UCLA. Thanks everyone

It's a normal thing with UCLA and all UC's. Don't call.

Very late response but word straight from the dean is that they're aiming for 100% CA residents next year.

I think you dun got trolled by the dean if that's what he said...

Is anyone still receiving secondaries from UCLA at this point or is all hope lost?

Hey there, has anyone who has submitted not received a "complete" email?

I checked my status online and it shows that my supplemental was submitted on 8/9 and Received. It also shows that my Letters of Rec have been received, but the Date of Action shows "NA." They should have been received a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if they're just a bit slow to update or if I need to contact them to confirm that everything's OK with my application.

Everything is fine they don't show a date for LORs

Hey UCLA. Why you no give people secondaries?😡

hey guys!
does anyone know if you can access the answers to the essays that we submitted in the secondary? for some reason, I can't find the latest saved version of my UCLA answers and wanted to use them to shape other answers. ahhhh i hate technology!

Has anybody heard anything from UCLA PRIME yet? I got a "primary received" email in July, but that's it.

Yeah, I also applied to PRIME. I received the "primary received" message on 7/30 and a secondary invite on 8/5. I had to turn it in by 9/2 but I know that the last batch of secondaries are due in November.

Jesus H. why so many essays? This makes duke look like child's play.

I received a secondary within a few hours of my AMCAS being received, is this significant? I only ask because it seems people are getting screened.

I'm OOS, 34Q, 3.91, but I started my own company. Maybe they liked that?

How many people actually complete this secondary? Do I have a shot?
