FWIW people on last year's thread heard back on what would have been yesterday...

Are you going by the day of the week or the actual calendar date?

I think UCSF's adcom meets on the 3rd monday of every month from Dec to April unless there's a holiday (like January) and this past December, Dean Wofsy started emailing acceptances 2 days later on Wednesday. So judging by that one data point from this cycle, you should expect to hear back tomorrow evening...

That's my understanding, too. My husband and I both interviewed at UCSF in November and we loved the school. I'm having such a tough time waiting for a decision! I want to be zen about it and say that it will all turn out for the best (we are lucky to have been accepted elsewhere together), but sheesh, I feel like I'm holding breath for UCSF.

To my fellow breath-holders, let's collectively take a deep breath and try not to stress. To those that are already relaxed, please share your tips! 🙂

I just checked my status page, and it must've changed within the past week.

"The acceptance packet that was mailed to you included some helpful information about UCSF, your acceptance letter, a Statement of Legal Residence Form and two copies of the Acceptance Form."

Thanks, that's very sweet of you! I do think things will be a-okay in the long run, it's just tough having this uncertainty about where we'll be in terms of school and geography - west coast, east coast, or midwest? All are possible at this point! We already live in the Bay Area and have close family here, so it would be especially awesome to stay. Maybe today will be the day when we find out - good luck everyone!

I interviewed in mid-November. He told our group that we'd hear in December or January, likely January. No news yet.

Interviewed November 29, Wofsy said that adcom would be meeting the following Monday but not about our group, about the groups prior to ours. He said ours should hear back "end of January, early February," for all of our sake I hope it's this week or today or now!

I got the "Your status has changed" email, but when I log in, I can't open the PDF they posted. My browser gives an error message that basically says something is wrong with their server and only they can fix it. Anyone else having server problems?

I'll call them on Monday to ask about it, but until then - do rejections come via a "check your status email" or do they tell you in the body of the email? Waiting for a response from a school sucks, but it's even worse when you know the school finally responded and you don't know what the response is!

Nothing except notification of status change is generally included in the automated emails (or at least I haven't heard of it happening before, feel free to correct me). In the years past I think, a PDF generally means rejection. The status changes for those who were accepted in December didn't mention a PDF file either. Sorry to be bearer of [potential] bad news.

Why say so if the poster has to wait all weekend to find out? My friend who goes to UCSF said people were notified a surprisingly wide variety of ways. I don't think you can tell anything yet.

How were people notified? I interviewed with ScribeDavid (I remember you from the day) late September, as well, and have not heard a peep.

My online status still says the "we'll make the decision by May."

I'm sorry for the news. At least I've heard that UCSF has a lot of movement on the alternate list - you could still have good news at the end of this long road.

Can I ask what made you expect that you'd be placed on the alternate list? I thought I'd hear this month, but so far no status change. Does that mean it's more likely that I'll be placed on the alternate list next month?

This wait has been excrutiating - I spent a week in December and a week and a half in January nervously checking my email/mailbox/status page every day, and I've also been going to interviews that I would likely withdraw from if I had an acceptance from UCSF. I'm definitely lucky to have the interviews, but flying around the country is so expensive - I've spend $2k just this month. 🙁

My understanding is that the Admissions Committee meets the third Monday of each month, and then decisions for that month go out all at once after that. So "next month" is likely sometime after Monday, Feb 20th.
