I got "AMCAS received" email on 7/19... Still no secondary... haven't heard anything since that email. OOS. 😕

Rejected pre-secondary on 9/2. Good luck to everyone else still in the running.

Sorry to hear that 🙁 Do you mind saying when UCSF acknowledged receipt of AMCAS?

Secondary completed 7/14! Patiently waiting for my interview from my dream school! 👍 Zen!

Has anyone received a secondary to UCSF lately?

If so, when were you verified?

Thanks!

I was AMCAS verified September 1, and got a secondary invite the next day. The actual email said something about my application status being updated, and then when I logged in at the link they provided, it said I had been invited to submit a secondary. I didn't get any "AMCAS received" email though... Also, I have no idea whether this is typical or not, so I hope this post won't incite any panic!

(Also, in case anyone is wondering, I'm OOS)

Just got an email telling me my status has been updated. Checked ans saw that I got a rejection :[. This was my top choice and I thought my gpa and mcat were good enough. Oh well, good luck to everyone else!

when were you complete? or when did they send you the "we have recieved your application" email?

I got the welcome email 8/26 and still have not heard a thing about the secondary... anybody else in my shoes? or am I the only one? 😕

HAHAHAHA. I got the welcome email July19th and still havn't heard anything about the secondary, nor received a rejection.
Obviously I'm not optimistic at this point but I think you can relax a little.

In the secondary, if I want to apply to UCSF prime, will that exclude me from being a candidate for the regular MD program? I say this because I am really interested in working with the underserved but I realized this fairly late in the game and I haven't had mindblowing experiences in underserved communities. ucsf is amazing and i'd love to go there so I don't want to jeopardize my chances by applying for prime (but the prime program seems to perfectly suit my interests).

Thanks!

Nah, they only screen for PRIME once you've gotten into the MD program I think. You can check last year's thread too for more definitive info.

Reeeeeejected. Pre-secondary.

36s/3.9 OOS, non-trad

no research experience though.

bummer.

Received rejection notice. Complete on 7/12

:luck: everyone interviewing

OOS, Just received secondary invite after a rather long silence (primary received on 07/25)! Don't know what my odds of getting an interview are, but I cannot deny I was happy to check my status and read "we want to know more about you"

Quick Qs: I am a permanent resident and one of the questions is "what are your plans for financing a medical education." Anyone mind telling me what they answered? Seems kind of a weird answer considering most people simply get student loans. I am guessing the question is more geared towards international students, who likely do not qualify for them.

Thanks

rejected. 3.92/42Q IS. completed around the end of july

:c GL to all the rest of you!

Would it be too unprofessional to attach a picture of myself at the lab I work at, while wearing a black polo shirt (shot from the shoulder level)?

Wait, do we have to submit a photo? What would we be attaching it to?

The secondary has an "upload a picture of yourself" section.

Ohhh! I thought you meant for an interview. I think I vaguely remember uploading a photo now, but I can't remember which one I chose...

For my photos, I've just been tearing pages out of the Facebook, and it hasn't seemed to matter. If you look halfway decent/normal, it's just for identification purposes. Might be worth cropping out lab gear and making the photo more portrait-like. G'luck!

Interview invite this morning!!!

Congrats!!! Here is the obligatory "when were you complete?" question for you too

Hm...I got that secondary received email on 7/21, then two status change emails back to back this morning. I was actually pretty sure that meant a rejection, but I guess that's how they do it...

Good luck guys! :luck::luck::luck:

Dear anyone interviewing next week,

I think class just started at UCSF, but have you heard anything about student hosting? What are you planning to do about accommodations if no info appears on the status page soon?

Thanks and good luck! 🙂

On the status page, it says that they'll probably have some info about it ready by 9/15...so maybe there's been a delay? If there's no hosting, I'll have a bit of a dilemma (I live so close anyway! But it starts early and traffic's a nightmare, maybe bart?)...

wow... I got the "received your application from AMCAS" email on 9/1. Still waiting for a secondary (I know it hasn't been long at all) but based on this comment I might as well stop checking the status page! 3.67, 39 and no research =[ ahhhh how I want you dream school...

btw, does anyone know if its true that they really like UCB applicants? I heard this from an adviser but am wondering if its just hearsay.

II! OOS, super excited. Secondary was received 8/14.

Haven't heard anything about hosting either, I live in the bay area but decided to stay in a hotel for the night before and cab over rather than trying to commute in or use a combo of Bart and muni.

Stoked and will see ya guys in a couple days!

OOS II via email telling me to check status page. Complete 8/13. Good luck everyone!

IS. My application could not be advanced any longer. Good-bye my dream school! Just wait till you hear back from me for residency. I'll be back 👍

I got my pre-secondary rejection today, as well. OOS with primary complete since 7/18.

Submitted secondary on 7/24..still waiting on news about an interview *crossing fingers* I am OOS, fyi.

They should've sent an email 9/19 regarding student hosting... Good luck with the interview!

The interview day was fantastic! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did, good luck! :luck:
Feel free to check my MDApps for what has become a running comparison of UC interview days.. haha

It was an awesome day wasn't it! I didn't get a chance to catch up after my interviews so I'm glad yours went well (after I saw you when I was walking back after my first one). Was totally impressed with this school, too bad we have to wait so long to hear back about it.

What really stood out to me was just how relaxed everyone was with us and each other. Beyond that, most friendly school yet!

Did you take an extra day to relax? Anything fun to do around UCSF? Hopefully there's a 24 Fitness nearby walking distance? Stuck there for 2 extra days, and I want it to be therapeutic. 😍

Also, how is traffic? My hotel is 15 minutes away, so how early would I need to wake up to dodge the early morning bullet? I've never been to that part of SF but all around it. I was thinking about walking the 3 - 4 miles, but I don't want to sweat in my suit or get it dirty. I'm a wool purist and I hate dry cleaning 😎

I didn't stay any extra days since I'm from the bay area, but there's definitely plenty to keep busy with in SF. Where's your hotel at in the city? Most places are easily accessible with muni or cab. Traffic wasnt at all bad this morning, and I stayed nearby and it was a pretty quick trip. As far as gyms go you shouldn't have a problem finding one close to your hotel. Feel free to send me a message and I would be happy to recommend some stuff near your hotel.

If you don't want to sweat or get some serious cardio going into the interview, you might not want to walk, since the school is essentially on a steep hill (Parnassus) that overlooks the Sunset district to the west and Golden Gate to the north. 🙂 Another option you can keep in mind are the UCSF shuttles which are free and incredibly reliable time-wise (like, to the minute). If you're staying near one of the affiliated hospitals, that would be a great way to get dropped off right in front of the library. Just check out the lines and timetable here: http://campuslifeservices.ucsf.edu/transportation/shuttles/timetables/

Man, I just knew there had to be another SDNer yesterday. Hope you had a great time, hopefully see you down the line!
