Just got an email saying that I've been accepted to UCSF! I was waitlisted on 03/19.

This is tough, I absolutely adored UCSF and San Francisco in general, but I have a full ride elsewhere (cue the world's tiniest violin for me).

Congrats!!! Let the movement begin! Let us know what you decide!

I received an email on Friday that I was accepted off the waitlist. I am withdrawing at this time. Good luck to all!

Second look was absolutely fantastic. Overall the entire environment is super supportive, super friendly, and very chill. It's a little intimidating seeing how everyone at UCSF is a top-notch scholar with big dreams, but I really can't imagine going anywhere else. I'm super pumped.

Anyone know how often the committee meets to review waitlistees? Also, anyone know if the committee met today?

Based on the last two years, they sent out a second batch of acceptances off the AL a week after the first batch went out. That would be today, but it seems awfully quiet out there.

Congrats! Very jealous but still congrats! I have close stats so hopefully I'm next! 😛

It was by email and it said the info packet will be coming by snail mail. I interviewed way back in September and then was alternate listed in January (maybe early February?). Not sure if I'll be accepting the offer or not but I'll let you guys know when I decide. Good luck!

Just got accepted this morning! The email asks for a prompt response. I wasn't sure whether that was to verify the mailing address or to indicate we accept the offer, can someone enlighten?

Just got accepted this last Thursday and I'm thrilled!! Now I'm trying to find housing and was wondering how most people found somewhere to live and how early you guys are moving to SF. Thanks!

I think the e-mail is for either one, I e-mailed to say I was accepting the offer and they immediately e-mailed me back. Congrats!!

Does anyone know what a typical day is like at UCSF for first years? How long are lectures typically? I'm just trying to get a feel for things, really looking forward to the fall.

Oh! And any current students know of some good off campus housing? Or where I should be looking? I'm looking for a 1BR or at least a single in an apartment nearby Parnassus.

It was an extremely difficult decision but, for personal reasons, I'm going to be declining my acceptance. Best of luck to everyone!

I am an incoming first year at UCSF, but from what I gathered many first year students live in the Inner Sunset district off of Judah street, which is convenient as you can either walk to class, or take the N-judah trolley line which runs from the beach to UCSF in a straight shot. Also Inner Sunset is largely on the same geographic plane as UCSF, so you don't have to walk any huge hills. If Inner Sunset doesn't interest you (it has a more quiet suburban feel compared to other districts), we were recommended to live near one of the UCSF shuttles as they are more timely than public transportation.

Anyway, I just signed the lease for a studio in Inner Sunset -- found the place on craigslist, and signed the papers the next day. So overall I did not find it terribly difficult to find decent housing around UCSF.

Lectures are 8-12 every day, not required and they are open about this. Then lab a couple times a week and community preceptor shadowing once every couple weeks (If I remember correctly.) I talked to a first year and he said when all was said and done his "day" ended at around 6pm, however he was very diligently working all day long. He also mentioned he would wake up early to go over lectures before attending, but after 6p he would relax.

Well, I guess we've gotta wait another week 🙁 Waitlist movement seems slow this year...starting to get a terrible feeling that the class may be full...any brave souls out there want to call and ask how many spots are currently open (if any)? 🙂

Do you have a spot at another school, Geminids?

I called this morning and asked if there would be any emails going out this week, answer was "hard to predict" 🙁

i got accepted off of the waitlist before noon.
waitlisted 01/30/12, username inspiration.
06/12/12, best news of my life.

Declined my acceptance to UCSF over the weekend. This was a *really* hard decision but it was definitely the right one for me. I hope my spot went/goes out to one of you lovely posters!

Got accepted via email today as well! Email came mid-afternoon EST. So excited!

Trying to decide whether or not to make the cross country move..

Keep us posted on your decision! 🙂

Maybe my internet research skills are lacking, but is there a class of 2016 facebook group?

I'm taking the offer! Looking forward to meeting everyone this fall. Best of luck to those on the wait list!

Have you called UCSF recently to ask about the waitlist?

Does anyone know what UCSF requires in the way of computers? From a quick web search, it looks like we can use whatever we already have.

Current students: do people take notes on their laptops, iPads, or what?

It seems like waitlist movement is slow is many other California schools as well (USC, UCLA, UCD, UCSD). What's going on?! 🙁

To everyone else on the waitlist: do you guys plan on staying on the waitlist up until your orientation starts?
