Per my adcom contact, all definite "no"s were sent out last week. This may just mean those who were pre-interview rejects, but he seemed to think it also included at least some of the post-interview definite rejections. Best of luck, everyone!

Bloody band-aid here. Tell Gandalf that Orcs are on the move towards Rohan. His intel is vital and can save middle earth. Surely some will be lost in the battle, but we need to know who is to fall, and when. I hope my fate is sealed with a trip away from middle earth with the elves and Frodo😍. If Gandolf says, "You shall not pass!!!" I will have to apply again and hope to get the precious next year. It's mine, why shouldn't I get it this year, those hobbitses don't deserve it, I found it, they stole it from me...my precious....

I shall report this to Gandalf posthaste. My hope is he and the Council of the Elves will come to a favorable agreement concerning this situation of dire consequence. I do believe the Chief Elf and his Lieutenant shall be pleased to hear of such a fellowship being formed; this shall, hopefully, lead to the acceptance of the Fellowship and the salvation of Middle Earth.

I just got my latest MCAT back today, and received a 32P (11PS 9VR 12BS). Since I'm a neurotic med school applicant, I can't be happy without a committee telling me I should be.

I was rejected pre-interview this year with an MCAT of 26P (9PS 7VR 10BS). I'm excited to have a much better overall MCAT, but the 9 in VR bothers me. Last year's matriculants had a median of 10, and a 10th overall percentile of 9 in VR. Not much of a spread, I know.

Were many people successful getting interviews this year with a 9 in VR? I desperately don't want to take the MCAT a third time, but I also don't want to get rejected again.

Any input out there?

I got a 9 in verbal (which is doubly bad because I was a lit major, in my defense I was scoring avg 13 on practice tests) and had an interview if that's any consolation. Assuming you're instate, you should have a good shot at an interview with a 32 as long as everything else is okay too.

With a sGPA that high you are probably good to go numbers wise. Maybe volunteer at something until June when apps go out and spend the rest of the year bummin around until you get in. 👍

6 pt increase. . . great job! That alone shows a certain dedication that I think CU likes to see. Don't worry about the vr, I think you'll fare well as a reapplicant in this coming cycle, especially at CU. Good luck!

Congratulations on the new MCAT score! I read this and felt like I absolutely had to comment as you and I could almost be application twins. I am a reapplicant this cycle. I applied last year with a 27 with a close point breakdown to yours. Except my VR score was a 6 ( I have no idea what happened because I was doing okay on practice tests but... such is life). I applied anyway knowing that the 6 was probably going to hurt me. Needless to say I was very unlucky on the interview front last year and needed to reapply. So I retook the exam in July 2012 and scored a 32, with my VR score being a 9. I interviewed at CU (I am OOS if you are curious) in December and was accepted less than 2 weeks later!

So, with that being said, I think your MCAT improvements are stellar and can definitely qualify you for an interview! I know that 9 is not like scoring a 13 or 14 or something like that for VR but its still a respectable score and I know quite a few people that have been interviewed and accepted with scores of 9 (and even below) at many different schools. Good luck with everything!

Don't know about the waves (though I'm hoping...)
I do think that WL/rejections are sent out by email, or at least they were last year:

Here's a recap of the timeline from LAST YEAR's thread:


- the last interview invites went out Feb. 8th for interviews on fairly short notice (only 10 days lead time)
- mass rejection emails were sent out on Feb. 17th to those people (including me) not invited to interview
- the last interview date was Feb. 18th
- mass acceptance, waitlist, and rejection emails were sent out Mar. 9th. I believe everyone knew their status by this date.
- mass acceptances off the waitlist were sent out May 24th
- acceptances off the waitlist trickled out slowly after that, through June and later

I'm a first time applicant so I can't say this with absolute certainty, but I think last year they sent out a lot more acceptances before March? I don't think there was an 80% flood of acceptances back then.

It's not even March yet so I don't think it's time to panic, just yet. 🙂
