Does anyone remember any questions that were asked at the interview as well as process on the interview day(# of interviews/from who)? My interview is on Thursday in Peoria so if anyone had there interview there, it would be more helpful but any information on any campus helps.
I think every campus is different. I interviewed in Chicago and we had one student interview and two faculty interviews. And I think they have access to everything except your metrics.

Interview Invite today!! Interview scheduled for 12/12. I'm supeeeer excited!! My first interview invite and a top choice for me. Submitted secondary on Sep-16.

So it has been 11 weeks since I was marked complete and I'm still "Application Is In Process".

Anyone else complete mid-late august and still no update?

YUP! I'm IS, 30R, 3.6 cGPa and sGPA. Been complete since 7/8. NO IDEA WHY THEY WILL NOT LOOK AT MY APPLICATION. I've called 4x now. SO beyond frustrated.

Same boat. I sent in my secondary on 7/8, although they had to wait for my new MCAT scores to be released in August. I'm also IS, 32, 3.7 cGPA and sGPA. I don't get it...I am starting to go crazy! 😱

Sending out the site pref. card tomorrow.

For those that care, stat change to "add. conf." on 10/28, package arrived 11/7. I live in Urbana, 2 hrs away from Chicago. Extrapolate arrival time for your package from there.

what was your reason for petitioning? It seems like the only people that have been successful at doing that were people that had dying relatives in Chicago or something like that.

From part of my letter:

...While I understand that your office will receive many such petitions, I am not requesting a site transfer because living in Chicago will be more convenient or because I will be able to stay closer to my family. I am requesting a site transfer because I think that the Chicago program offers opportunities in line with my future career goals that no other site offers in terms of clinical research...

So I was explicit about not needing a transfer for personal reasons. I wanted to go to a campus with more research opportunities (which I've taken advantage of).

From talking to other M2s, it seems that they granted a lot of petitions.

Big acceptance packet here too:clap::clap::clap::clap::highfive::highfive:
Congrats to you peace, chicitie, and everyone else here on the thread! Again, best of luck to everyone still waiting!

got the big envelope!!!!!!

fyi the letter was dated november 1st (which means they sent it after friday) and my parents' house is about 5 miles from UIC - so ppl further don't freak out if it takes until next week.

Yep, my letter was also dated 11/1, but I live about 3 miles away from UIC and it didn't show up until today. Gotta love that Chicago Postal Service!

Anyways, as promised, here is what your status page should look like if you've been accepted. A lot of people (myself included) were skeptical they had the right Accepted Correspondence "tab". This is what mine looks like:

(I blotted out my interview dates, obviously.) Hopefully this alleviates neuroses of future UIC applicants to come. Also, just in case it's not clear already, this screenshot is in reference to "step" S1 below:

START

I. Submit Primary.

II. Wait for the email from UIC giving you your login information for the Applicant Status Check site (usually arrives within 2 weeks of submitting your primary): https://mercury.comd.uic.edu/appstat

III. Login, and check your status in the second page.

---

A. "Application Not Complete" = Secondary not yet complete.

B. "Application in Process" = You are complete. --> Goto C.

C. "Applicant in Process" = Your file is being reviewed, 3 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Select Interview Date" = You are good enough for an interview. --> Goto D.
2. "Application in Process" = You are not good enough to grant an interview yet, but might be later on in the cycle. Check back periodically. --> Go back to B.
3. "Final Decision Made ..." = You are not good enough. --> Goto X.
D. "Select Interview Date" (A grid of dates shows up) = Call and schedule an interview date, after which "Interview Scheduled on ... " shows up. After the interview, Goto F.

F. "Decision Pending" = File pending review at the next adcom meeting (every 3rd Thursday of the month). There are 2 options from here, depending on the month:
1. Before May. --> Goto M.
2. On or After May. --> Goto N.
M. Before May, 2 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Final Decision Made ... " --> Goto S.
2. "Decision Pending" (No Status Change) + "We'll keep reviewing you" Email (a few days later) = You are a good candidate, but not good enough to grant an acceptance yet. UIC will keep reviewing you at every adcom meeting. --> Go back to F.
N. On or After May, 2 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Final Decision Made ... " You are (very likely) rejected. --> Goto X.
2. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. --> Goto Y.
S. There are 2 additional conditions from here:
1. There is an "Additional Correspondences" Tab in the upper-right corner on your status page AND you get a CBC Email (a few days later) = You are (very likely) accepted. --> Goto Z.
2. There is no "Additional Correspondences" Tab and/or you don't get the CBC Email = Rejection. [Note: This is tricky. The CBC email usually comes a few days after (1-4 is the consensus) the status change. Be patient. Sometimes, the email never comes, which might be because you already had a CBC done due to an acceptance at another school. In some instances, the CBC Email even comes after the snail-mail. If after a week, neither the tab nor the CBC email shows up, it's very likely a rejection. You've probably already received snail-mail by now alerting you to it.] --> Goto X.
X. "Final Decision Made ..." = Rejection ... Wait for a "Thin Letter" via snail-mail.

Y. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. ... The CBC Email no longer acts as an indicator of an acceptance. If you get accepted off of the waitlist, then Goto Z, else Goto X.

Z. "Final Decision Made ..." + "Additional Correspondences" Tab + CBC Email = (very likely) Acceptance ... Wait for a "Fat Packet" via snail-mail. [Note: Sometimes CBC emails come after the packet. CBC emails also might never arrive if you got an acceptance to another school that also does CBC through AMCAS.]

Just curious. Which track/site are you choosing?

Chicago.

Anyone know when's a good time to start looking for apartments in Chicago? Everything I'm looking at right now are available immediately. Need something that opens in August.

woot Chicago! Tempest, there's a huge flood of apts into the rental market during the summer months for the college grads. If you're looking for a lease that begins August 1, it's probably best to start perusing in early June.

Craiglist and a lot of "broker" agencies (Chicago Apartment Finders, Apartment Savvy, etc) will be your best bet, though those places often make their $$ by charging your landlord the "finder's fee". In return, your landlord can up your rent by some fraction each month to cover this. It's not NYC, but it can still be an aggressive market. The best apartments can get snapped up in a day, so do your homework on which neighborhood you want to live in and what exactly you're looking before you start hunting seriously.

Interview Invite and can't be any more excited! 🙂

Now, can anyone comment on the differences between interviewing at the main Chicago campus vs. the others (besides having to accommodate travel plans)? Is there an advantage at any particular location? Also, can the interview be reserved online, or strictly by calling like it says in the email?

As of now, I am probably going to reserve a spot at the Chicago campus first thing in the morning... Thanks!

I've been applicant in process for 3.5 months.....ugghhh....I'm going to call the school I guess

Any hotel recommendations for interview at the Chicago campus in mid December?

I've been complete for over four months and still haven't heard a peep from UIC. Thank goodness I have things going on to keep my mind off of the wait!

Chinatown hotel in Chicago is where I stayed for my interview.

In case anyone was wondering, talked to the counselor today and he said location appointments are probably going to be decided at the November adcom meeting.

A post by Jalby in pre-allo got me thinking: how much time does UIC give students to study for the boards?

i think i heard them say that it is 6 weeks but i could be wrong.

I've been complete since early August. I called last week and they said keep checking the status page. I am getting very discouraged, especially since I am an Illinois resident.

Ditto. Submitted secondary 7/31

So this is an issue that a lot of people seem to be having....😕

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. IS 4.0 and 32R, seeing out of state people get interviews in a month with 3.4's and <30's is realllllly aggravating haha

ye, I submitted on the 8th of July and never heard back. I have had the "Application is in process" status since the start. I should call them and ask them what "process" means because it sounds like mine is in the process of never being reviewed - OH DISS 👍

i just hit the 3 month mark as "applicant in process"
I'm OOS though.
waiting sucks

I feel like I get different opinions about exactly how the interview experience goes. Some say it's really casual and laid back, they just want to make sure you're not crazy or whatever, but then on the interview feedback section there are some questions that may catch you off guard or make you think a while before asking them, like what incurable disease would you want to live with for a week or some other stuff I saw on there. Is there no general consensus? Should I just be prepared for the unpredictable? Were those differences possibly due to interviewing at various campus sites (since they kind of have different missions)?

3rd Thursday of November is the 17th omgomgomgomgomgomgogmggomgomgggomg good luck everyone!:xf:

Possibly. I interviewed at Chicago and had 3 one-on-one interviews, but a current M1 told me she interviewed at Rockford and had a panel interview. She said it's way easier to adapt to one person's attitude/interview style more than three people's. So the format is definitely variable by site.

As for the questions themselves, I think it's a grab bag. I had two very conversational interviews with faculty and then a fairly difficult student interview. I'd say go in overprepared. It's a much better option than the alternative. 🙂 Good luck! :luck::xf:

Was the person interviewing at Rockford applying for the RMED track? I'm applying for the RMED program and I know that the interview for it is a large panel of AdCom members, students, physicians and members of the Illinois Farm Bureau.

Nope, she just applied late to medical school and didn't get an II until later in the cycle, and by that time I think all the Chicago interview slots were taken or something. She's currently an M1 on the Chicago track.

I interviewed at Chicago and thought it was really laid back. The only ethical or policy questions they I was asked had pretty straight forward answers in my opinion. I must have answered them pretty well because I got my acceptance 2 weeks ago!

Hey there, I can't seem to get to the "interview feedback," it says the page doesn't exist. maybe im looking in the wrong place. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Also, any comments on the interview at rochford? I know it's a panel interview, what were some of the tougher questions, or was it pretty chill? Anything specific I should focus on before the interview?

Also, If you're interviewing the day before the 3rd thursday of the month, which batch are you included in for review?

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys! I don't post here much, but I'm an m1 at Urbana though I'm heading to peoria next year. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Are your stats from mdapps right? I'm so confused with what U of I is doing lately..

Yes, my stats from MDapps are correct. Not trolling. I'm very lucky and can't wait to interview here 😀

Finally got an interview invite today after submitting my secondary in July. I'm an Illinois resident.

Does anyone know how I go about calling to talk to an admissions counselor?? Do I just call the same # on Thursday and ask to speak with one??

Yes. You call the regular number, and ask to speak with an admissions counselor. I asked if my application was complete, then asked what the normal timeline was to be notified from the admissions committee about an interview. She said 6-8 weeks.. I pointed out that it had been 14 for me. She said "I'll put a note on it and forward it to the committee"

14 days later. Interview invite. Good Luck!

Good to know, I have been complete and 'application in process' since July 😕

It took quite a while but they marked my letters as received and app complete 11/9. I was moved to application in status, but today I just noticed I was changed to applicant in status.

For most of the people saying they have been waiting an excruciatingly long time to hear back, have your statuses been application or applicant in process? The whole status mumbo jumbo is a little confusing.
