I just got an invite for Dec. Am I interviewing for the waitlist at this point?

No! One of my good friends in my class interviewed in December and was accepted before Christmas! You have a shot pre-match, in the match (though Southwestern doesn't give out many "matches") and after the match (in the past UTSW has given ~100 spots after the match)

Congrats on the interview and good luck!

Got an II today!! What an awesome surprise -- I thought my 3.4 cGPA would keep me out for sure!!! December 3 is gonna be awesome. 😀

Can people who have interviewed before or who are current students please tell me what women wear on the Friday portion of the interview? I am still confused. The packet says business dress in the morning, and casual/business casual in the afternoon. Do I wear my suit both days? What did most females do that you saw? Thank you! 🙂

Most women wore a suit both days. It seemed like most people who were there for the afternoon session on Friday were there in the morning too.

Really?! I had friends who interviewed in September and they said they hardly saw anyone in suits. It was mostly dress pants/skirt and dress shirt. They said that suits were on interview day and maybe one or two random people the day before.

The day before the Friday portion, I got an e-mail with more info which mentioned that suit jackets weren't required on Friday. I wore a sleeveless blue blouse, a black silk cardigan/jacket type thing, and a grey pencil skirt all day Friday and comfortable walking flats. Most of other the ladies I saw wore nice blouses and slacks - I don't actually recall any of the ladies wearing a suit.

there was only one or two girls wearing a suit on friday at my interview. Most were wearing either suit/skirt pants with a button down or appropriate top and flats. No one that I know of changed between the morning and afternoon sessions!

Just confirmed my interview for December 3rd, as well. I'm very excited and looking forward to it.

Congrats! I will have a toast tonight in your honor. It probably will not literally involve cyanide though...

INTERVIEW INVITE!!

12/3!

Wow.

I have UT-Galveston on 12/2. What exactly is the Friday portion? They have a spots in the afternoon program that I can make. Not sure about the morning program.

Interview invite! SO happy. I was invited for 12/10 but changed it to 12/3.

Congrats!

In the morning they have clinical rounds where you get to go to the hospital with a team and see and/or discuss patients. They didn't have it yet when I applied, but the students I have hosted have really enjoyed it.

The afternoon is just info sessions and a nice dinner with med students.

If you are able to come to the Friday morning program I would do that, but if you can't it's no big deal. I definitely wouldn't rush up to Dallas just for the Friday afternoon program. The info is good but you get most of it Saturday anyway. Take your time and enjoy Galveston then come up to Dallas when you can. I think rushing around might cause you to be stressed for your interviews at both schools.

Maybe some people who interviewed recently can chime in with different advice.

So my interview is 12/3, I'm doing the Friday afternoon portion on 1/6, and the Friday morning portion on 1/13.

I've had a trip to Orlando for 1/10-1/13 booked for months. I'll bump that up a day or two.

Also, for those still waiting. I had the option of interviewing on 12/10 and a date in January.

Send update letters, trust me, they work.

Congrats!

I sent mine to [email protected]

I basically just added what I've done since my primary was transmitted in May (I've done quite a bit). Then I added a paragraph at the end stating what I liked about the school.

Congratulations on the invitation!
I did not attend any of the Friday activities and just asked a ton of questions Saturday. I did not feel like I missed much.
Also I overheard several people who did both the rounds and info session on Friday say that they felt the day (Friday) was very long for them.

I got my interview invite after I sent in an update letter, too! I guess they really do work.

I addressed it to: "To whom it may concern."
My email subject was: "File Update for MD Applicant [my name]"
I began it with something like: "Thank you very much for considering my application... I wanted to confirm my interest in UT Southwestern and update you about XYZ."

But, that's just what I did. There are probably better ways. *shrug*

I just interviewed here this weekend! I would say not to break your neck trying to attend Friday portions. I didn't do the rounds, but I went to the afternoon program. You aren't missing too much information, you'll hear the same info on Saturday morning.

November 15th is two days away. Come on Southwestern!

This wait is killing me. Absolutely botched this interview since it was my first one but at the same time, I'm going to be devastated if I don't hear anything Tuesday. 🙁

Do the decisions come out today at mid-night or sometime during the day tomorrow?

Last year they went out 8 AM on Nov 15th but the day before it was a Sunday so who knows, guess we'll have to wait and see.

FWIW, I found the Friday sessions and rounds to be really useful and informative. I agree that you shouldn't stress if you've got a conflict, but if you can make it, definitely make the effort.

Throughout, but in reality it's tomorrow and this one day in December rather than spontaneously throughout the 2 months.

Mostly tomm from what I read from last years UTSW forum. Based on what I read, most people don't get in from the match in Feb

Almost no matching, but a lot of students get in after the match (I want to say ~100 but I'm not completely sure)--tomorrow is certainly not your only shot for an acceptance.

Someone posted on the "Match Thread" that UTSW wouldn't offer prematches till Wed. Can anyone validate this?

Call and ask the admissions office anonymously when prematch offers are going out.

I can't hang around this thread.

It'll drive me nuts.

I literally spit on my computer when I go the email.

I wasn't expecting anything at 12.

Congrats guys! I wasn't expecting an email either til my friend called me. This was my top school, I'm excited!
