Hey, how long does it take from when you submit your supplemental to when you are marked as complete?

I submitted on September 17th and my status still says my letters of recommendation are missing! I called Admissions today and they said they have a lot of letters to match and so it might take a while.

it takes a while to download the LORs. i was waiting on that too. it took me between 1-2 weeks, but it's probably taking even longer now. if you make sure you sent them on amcas, just wait a bit longer.

the date at which u apply to VCU seems to be important to them

Complete August 17th, havent heard a peep, sent an in the area email as well :/

Busted?

Hey guys...IDK either of you but his rejection post in August...was for last season(2010-2011)...So he's not trolling

You are 100% correct MrLahey. I apologize 'runningmate', I misread the date there 🙂 and congratulations on your interview!

Hey everyone,

I asked this earlier but didn't get much of a response. Does anyone (either current/former VCU Medicine students or informed applicants) know the process of how students are chosen to do their last two years at INOVA Fairfax?

Is there any way of boosting my chance of getting an INOVA spot?

Pretty much, on your application you express that you want to only rotate at Inova for your last two years. Then, depending on how many people do the same, they let you know where you stand. Generally, most people want to stay in the Richmond area (especially if you're from out of state and don't have family near Inova) because to pick up and go after establishing yourself here for two years is too bothersome and the main campus is here. It's usually people who want to go back to be closer to family who want those spots. I think they're around 34 or so and most who request it seem to get it.

Something I have heard floating around though is that all OB/GYN rotations will start to be at Inova, no matter which campus you said you preferred. I'm assuming VCU will set you up with housing for those weeks if you're not assigned to Inova.

Interview invite today. Further status since 07/29. So stoked!!! 😀

YESSSS you broke the OOS / further barrier into II territory!!! :highfive::claps::claps::claps:

outstanding. congrats, man...and thank you. you just revived my hope for this school

Thank you so much! That was really helpful...part of the reason I want to go to this school is so I can do the last two years at INOVA so I don't have to be too far from family and friends for that long.

I hope I'm one of the ones who get it!!!

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in late-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

still waiting for an II! :xf:

If VCU doesn't give me an interview invite soon, I'm going to send them a rejection letter. They obviously don't know who the F*** I am.

Anyone OOS w/ <30 MCAT get an interview yet?

Just curious if anyone OOS w/ <30 MCAT has received an II?

Yes, I did in September soon after submitting my AMCAS application.

You asked this same question in the University of Toledo thread as well. Is it possible that you're not checking your email or something?

I think then, that he is asking if anyone has received an II with those stats from _this_ school, not an II in general.

And I do have those stats. OOS, less than a 30 MCAT. I received a secondary application in September a few days after submitting my AMCAS.

EDIT: Nevermind, he's clarified his meaning. "II" isn't the Roman numeral for "two", but rather "interview invite." Alright.

I got the MAY status on 8/2. No word since. Should I call them? I sent them an update email mid sept.

Good luck everyone, Just letting you know VCU is the greatest. I got accepted as the GMED student, and my orientation is this oct towards the end. I love it at VCU and I hope u guys get in.

I was MAY with my sub 30 score, intent to retake
Just became FURTHER with my 30+ score...?? OOS...
dont know if this helps the date/means much tho!

anyone else who interviewed on sep 14 or before still not get the "committee has reviewed your file" status yet?

I interviewed a week after that and I already received the update stating that my file has been reviewed and it's on hold. You could call them to ask if your file has been seen by the committee.

yeah i called yesterday. they said i have not. I don't understand the order by which they are reviewing

the plot does indeed thicken. 😕 i'm starting to believe the past threads' claim that there's no rhyme or reason to it.

Congrats on the MCAT score though! :luck:

reapplicant here... and interviewed last year.

added some awards and extra curriculars, and raised mcat from 25P to 3OQ and am on the "may" list...

i'm hopeful, but know its very competitive.. so we'll see how it goes this time around.

goodluck everyone

Wow, congrats on the great bump in the MCAT score--that will get you some love for sure! Good luck! :luck:

It is competetive for sure! Sounds like you're in much better shape this year though so good luck to you. I'm OOS with very strong ties to Virginia through the military. I don't think I'm on the "may" status quite yet. They must really review the apps at VCU. I think that's a good thing.

Is anyone else eagerly awaiting Oct 16th?? I doubt that as an OOS with lower stats I will be offered an acceptance on the first date, but it doesn't hurt to hope 🙂 I just fell in love with VCU when I interviewed and getting an acceptance there would be a dream come true!!! Can't wait :xf:

Does anyone know what the actual deal is with October 15th/16th? Those are both weekend days, so should we actually expect to hear from schools on Monday the 17th???

I am not sure, but in the hold message I received after my interview it says that their decision dates are October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

Got invited to fill out secondary today. Good news! Was on hold for a month for prescreening!

Got an interview invite on Wednesday and scheduled it for next Wednesday! EXCITED. Interviewed at EVMS about 3 weeks ago. We'll see which school I like better.. Anyone have any views on the differences between the two schools?
