Just added wake and got preliminary email. Says "Your primary application from AMCAS has been received. It is being evaluated and you will be sent an e-mail notification of your status within 1-2 weeks."

So there is no secondary or what??? Their instructions are so confusing....😕

They are looking at your primary to determine if they will give you a secondary. Wake Forest screens out a percentage of applicants before the secondary application and only gives secondaries to people that pass this screening.

Thanks. I was hoping I was already complete and didn't have to write another essay =/ (so tired of writing!)
 
So, what is there to do in Winston-Salem? I'm at the Hawthorne and it's raining, but I've got a rain jacket and I'm looking to explore!

For folks that have interviewed, what have you guys thought of your interview days?
 
if i was complete in july and haven't received an invite yet...would sending interest letters help? the lady at the front desk keeps telling me to wait it out.

Um, it is probably better to listen to the person employed by the school versus a bunch of internet strangers.

:idea: Unless of course you are just looking for someone to say "Sending an interest letter is a great idea." In that case I suggest saying that phrase aloud while looking in a mirror. 😀
 
@UnclePhil -- Interview day was stress free, and quite enjoyable. Everyone was very friendly and the interviews were laid back. Saw the anatomy lab and witnessed a class in action. One thing I liked about Wake is it seems that everything at the medical center is growing quite quickly and students have the opportunity to immediately benefit from the growth.

BTW its Oct. 12, has anyone heard anything?
 
Does anyone know how long it actually takes to drive out from Winston Salem to the Raleigh-Durham airport? If I have a 6:30 flight, can I make it if the interview ends around 3?
 
Still haven't heard anything- from what I have seen in past years decision emails have gone out in the early evening?

About the flight- you should definitely be able to make it, especially because through security and to your gate at RDU is quick compared to most airports.

It's doable, but you'd be cutting it close. If you make good time, it's about a 2 hour drive. The problem is you're going to hit Raleigh traffic and that could set you back a bit, depending on how bad it is. If it was me, I'd go for it and hope for the best!

Hey kduck,

I live in Raleigh, and you can make it. You'll have to get through Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Durham without too many delays, though. You should be getting to the airport around 5:00 (with afternoon traffic) or sooner.

I'm a little concerned because I'm going to be doing this the day before Thanksgiving, but I don't really see another option, so I'm going to go for it. If I have to sprint to my gate and am on the last one on the plane... that's ok. I'll have the whole flight to come down from the stress, right? lol
 
Called today and found out I am currently not in the pool being interviewed. They said it could change though. Does anyone have experience with this situation?
 
Called this AM (they told us we should call after Oct. 12, at my interview day) and was told that decisions should be out on Oct. 17.

Last year it looks like decisions went out after Oct. 15, was this the first year they claimed to be able to release early? The lady specifically said "well it will be after Oct. 15th...," so perhaps they ran into a roadblock when they thought they had an exemption from the trafficking rules.
 
I interviewed at another school that starts early, and they won't be releasing decisions until after Oct. 15th either. So there must have been some sort of confusion with that, I don't think any school regardless of when they start can release decisions early (excluding DO of course).

Yea I asked what pool I was placed in and they said there are a couple of different pools. The top pool is full of people they are interviewing from but she said applications get reviewed all the time so I could have a change in status but I think thats unlikely to happen
 
Just arrived at my hotel and preparing for my WF interview tomorrow! I'm extremely excited! Any of those who have already had an interview have any advice?

Just be chill. They're really nice at Wake, and the interviews are low-stress. Good luck. 🙂
 
So WF received my AMCAS and my account said something like "Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified by email." That was a few weeks ago. Now my account says "You will be receiving notification of your application status by e-mail." I take that to mean they have already made their decision about offering me their secondary, but I haven't received an email yet.

This feels like bad news.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I wonder what the cutoff will be for these decisions...when I interviewed they said the committee was meeting October 19th for our decisions, but maybe we will get lumped in.

I'm pretty sure this is the status they give you when they have rejected you pre-secondary. I'm sorry. 🙁

Yep yep. Declined for secondary. That's the first rejection for me. Even though wake wasn't one of my top choices, still kinda hurts lol

First rejection today 🙁

Rejected pre-secondary, 3.5 gpa 33R OOS. Oh well, good luck to everyone else!

The day as a whole was good. It was well run and organized. The speakers were knowledgeable and professional. The interviews were relaxed and easy.
The students were awesome. They all seemed excited and relatively happy. Overall it was an excellent presentation of what Wake has to offer and really showed me that I would be happy there.
 
Anyone know where to find a recent match list? Key word being recent.

I have the most recent list for the 2011 graduates.

The admissions office will also send them out if you email them (they sent me their list from last year when I was applying).

Not a surprise though--I set myself up for this one with a bad interview. Congrats to those of you who were accepted!

Thanks UnclePhil. A good excuse to check in with admissions I suppose. Still another few weeks until I interview, but very VERY excited.
 
Alternate List. I will be declining my spot on the alternate list though...wake forest just wasn't a good fit for me. Congrats to everyone who got accepted!
 
How long does it take for your application to be marked complete after submitting the secondary?

I submitted my secondary on 10/2 and my status still reads "A secondary was sent to your email..'

Your email said they'd reply in 1-2 weeks?? Mine didn't give a timeframe. It just said they got my AMCAS and will contact me if more info is required.
 
I think I remember them saying that those who were interviewed on my interview day, 10/4, were going up for committee review today.
