uhhh... if your interview was indistinguishable from a casual chat, I LIKE IT!

That's what most Columbia interviews are like.

Group chat with Dean Nicholas? Can you elaborate? Is it part of the interview or is it casual conversation?

Casual conversation/Q&A about Columbia. It is scheduled as part of the interview day.

I apologize if this was already discussed - Quick question for those more in tune with the status page (i.e. those who check their statuses every 18 minutes). It used to have a little interview line that said "Not Scheduled Yet", correct? That entire line no longer appears on my guy, and I was just curious what that was about and if that's what appears for everyone else. Was it causing too much anxiety and they just decided to nix it? It would have been kinda fun to have something pop up there at some point, whether it was a date or a "lulz you thought we'd actually interview you". The IT portion of this secondary is dynamic.

It means nothing I'm sure.

Interview invitation received this afternoon. Secondary submitted July 31st. Scheduled my interview for October 17th (earliest date available). Really happy with the hosting form; it's cool that they try to pair you up with students in specific groups (I requested a host in Lambda Health Alliance)!

Congrats. Is it an email update or did you just check your status online?

same, but scheduled for oct. 10th; i scheduled within seconds of receiving...didn't even check commitments, exams for school, nothing..

btw, complete 08/17

I wonder if the turn around time will be longer or shorter for those of us who submitted later (like in the last two weeks)

Does anyone know what percentage of interviewees are offered a spot? (Is this information available somewhere online for all schools without requiring subscription?)

hey can someone please PM me the confirmation email they received when they signed up for ther interview date? There was a bug the day I signed up, and my confirmation email was just a string of letters. I called the office but they still haven't emailed me the correct email. I'd really appreciate it 🙂

Didn't get an interview within 2 weeks of submission? REJECTED 🙄

For anyone who has already had their interview (or anyone who's just more clued in than I am), how do you find out whether you have a morning or afternoon interview? The status page just says the date my interview is scheduled for, not morning vs. afternoon.

If I submitted my application in July and I haven't received any II yet, does it mean that I will not receive one?

Thank you

I am also wondering this

I wish they would get in touch with us!! My interview is in a couple days 😱

Update: I just called admissions, and they told me my interviews are scheduled for the morning, but they recommended calling again the day before my interview day to make sure plans haven't changed.

They'll tell you whether you're morning or afternoon when you arrive at the office. You don't need to do anything differently. It doesn't matter unless you're trying to pick an earlier/later flight, but I would recommend erring on the side of safety and picking a flight that would allow you to stay until 4-5 pm if need be.

I'm assuming that you already interviewed this season and I was wondering if you could tell us about your experience? Thanks

Hey, yeah, I have a short blurb at the bottom of my MDApps. If you have specific questions or things you want to know feel free to ask.

On the survey they send you after confirmation, it tells you to list faculties that you would liked to be interviewed by. Was your request heard?

I actually never received the confirmation email, so I didn't make any request. But I'm sure they would accomodate you as best they can (i.e. the interviewer is available). Maybe someone else or a medical student can comment on that

This was a great write up but since I am an undergrad here and I have done research at the medical center, I am well acquainted with the area; therefore, I was hoping that you could elaborate upon the interview and the interview day. How was the conversation with the Dean? I understand that you spoke mainly about the healthcare problems, but do you remember any specific questions or highlights of the day? You have great stats and I wish you luck. I am trying to get ready for my interview since this is my first choice and I don't believe that I will ever have another chance at this.

Honestly I don't think specific questions will help anybody; every interview and the questions and topics discussed will be unique. The Dean did come in and speak with us, he was very well acquainted with activities that we had undertaken and mentioned in our applications and had us elaborate on them going around in a group. The day was pretty unstructured, I had 2 hours to just do whatever, so I stepped in on a couple lectures that were going on. Just prepare for it like it's any other interview, everyone's going to be really friendly and not out to get you at all so don't be worried!

i don't have the Interview Scheduling Icon on my status page anymore...does this mean silen rejection?

Anyone know if they are accepting of updates? I will be in NY for Mount Sinai the week of October 15th and want to let them know like I did with Cornell, but don't want to hurt my chances/come off arrogant or whatever. Basically I am making a 2 week trip to the east coast and have 5 interviews packed in right now and an epic win would turn into an epic fail if I have to pay for another round trip (I live in Cali), so I just want to let them know just in case they happen to be considering me for an interview, I can get in on one of those dates.

II! OOS, Complete Mid-August. 3.4/3.5 GPA, 34S, URM

It looks like your letter worked lol! What did you write in it? Was it just an in the area email bc I live in NY and don't think that would work for me?

I'll be on the East Coast from the 14th-26th interviewing and I live on the East Coast. I basically told them this and the dates I was available. They got back to me pronto with one of those dates.

Always good to see that I am not leading people astray 😀

wow, my heart skipped a beat when i saw the "invitation to...." email - open it up and it's for the columbia-basset program. gah!

Sorry if this has already been covered, but did anyone get an invitation to apply to the Columbia-Bassett program? I got an email about it, and I'm wondering if it's meaningful or something they just sent to everyone.

Wondering the same thing, but thinking it is probably something they just sent to all applicants
