Hello everyone. I'm sure this has probably already been answered on this thread but I can't seem to find it. I hope someone is willing to answer this question again!

How long did it take for you to receive an interview call or email?

I submitted my secondary mid-September and am starting to get worried. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Relax. You submitted only 1 month ago, and many other people who submitted before you are in line to be reviewed. Expect to wait a bit. This school has a lot of applicants.

Anyone here have any information on the merit scholarships that Loyola gives out? I know they have two different ones, but I'm not sure how they give them out, when, etc.

You will receive a financial aid info packet in the mail in January to fill out. You have to send in your parents and your tax returns with that packet.

Right after second look day (mid April I believe), you will get a financial aid award sent to you. There are merit and need based scholarships and institutional subsidized loans.

Does that include Dean and Ignatian scholarships?

SDN on a saturday night.. chee hoo.

Looking through the 2011 thread, 'your file has been reviewed' is a hold status (or at least it was last year) and isn't the end all be all.

Also this time last year they were sending outright rejections pre-interview but I haven't seen any of those here yet....

OK, so maybe I still have a chance of getting one of them. I thought I was out of luck, after nothing about it was written in my acceptance letter.

I'm pretty sure no one hears anything about scholarships until April after they received all your fin aid. Just sit back and enjoy your acceptance(s) for the next few months!

I don't think anyone is offered a scholarship right out the gate.

Hey guys,

I'm debating whether I should try to poke the adcom about my status. I submitted 9/17 and I am still not complete. I emailed the other day and got a pat response about how two people in the office have to download thousands of LoR's and to calm down (which is probably true regardless).

But looking at all of these boards, I think I'm right to be nervous. Should I email them again? Call? Go there in person (I'm local) and introduce myself? Offer them my firstborn? I really like this school and I'm not even complete there yet.

HELP!!

I submitted 9/11 and I still am not complete if that makes you feel any better :/

That does, actually; maybe the volume of letter downloading is just overwhelming or something?

(I am just not good at waiting and I have to try to remind myself that this is a marathon-esque process.)

I just have to decide whether inquiring about my file with the adcom will piss them off or will encourage them to download my stuff and mark me complete.

Be patient. Its only been a few weeks.

In my rational heart I know that but my irrational crazy person keeps whispering to me that they skipped my stuff, or that my letters got lost or or or....

I am so bad at patient 🙂

I'd say maybe wait until the end of the week until calling. The main admissions assistant is Rosemary. If you can get ahold of her she is AWESOME and will surely not take your anxiety negatively (I'm sure the other staff are great, too 🙂). Honestly though, the only people you can directly contact [the admissions staff] have little to no access to the status or processing of your application, so they may only be able to give you a standardized response. Best of luck! :luck:

does 25 lines mean 25 sentences? how do you know if your response is 25 lines??

😕 Try counting?

1 Blah blah blah
2 I want to go to Stritch so bad
3 Stritch gets me hard
4 Loyola boner
5 More blah blah blah

That was 5 lines right there. Keep writing until you get to 25 lines. Or less.

I just did 25 lines in a standard word document with 1" margins and 12-point font. Wasn't a problem.

Let's be nice guys, we seem to have forgotten how annoyed we all were months ago with the poor wording for this particular requirement.

I submitted 9/04, and I was marked complete 10/19. Hang in there! It will be within a week or two!

Has anyone here that's been accepted been an applicant that got asked to do a third interview?

Has anyone here that's been accepted been an applicant that got asked to do a third interview?

Yes, there have been plenty. It isn't a disadvantage to have a third interview.

Yes! I had three interviews and I was accepted last week. The reason they give you a third interview is only to help your chances when there is a large discrepancy between your first and second interview feedbacks.

My first interview was conversational and went well. My second one was a pressure interview filled with ethical dilemmas. Afterwards, they said that they wanted to give me a third interview to make a decision. The third one was conversation and went well. Hope that helped!

Goodluck to you

It definitely did help. Thanks for the info

No letter in the mail today.

No letter in the mail today.

Maybe they didn't send out a letter to you like they said they did? MO is only a couple days away from IL via USPS. Believe me when I say I know what it feels like to anxiously check the mailbox every day...I've got my fingers crossed for you! :luck:

I called them today. They said they sent out the letters on Thursday

Oh I must've misinterpreted Rosemary. I called on Thursday and she said "the letters have already been sent out[/b]. I called around 3pm CST, so I guess she meant they sent them out that day and not earlier in the week.

Maybe. Someone in Chicago got their letter on Friday. I hope it comes tomorrow.

To be fair, I'm from Chicago (area) still haven't gotten it.

8 weeks & 'under review' still... hoping I wasn't forgotten about, I love Loyola 🙁

II today!!! Was catching up on sleep after having the joy of sleeping in an airport last night so I missed the call. Don't have access to a computer now so searching is rough on a phone, but does anyone know when the interview day ends? Need to call back and set that puppy up!

It depends on when your interviews are scheduled for, but when I was there everyone was done by 2 pm or so. I think on their website or somewhere in the II material they say something about planning to spend the entire day with them....I just scheduled a later flight and planned to be there till around 4 pm if necessary.

Edit: Congrats on your II, btw. Loyola is pretty darn awesome.

I cannot seem to find Loyola's match list from 2011 or 2010. It almost seems like it doesn't exist. Does anyone have either?

My status just changed to: Your file has been reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail.

Assuming that this is the hold status, does anyone know if there is movement from this status to a potential II? I hope this isn't just their way of taking a long time to reject...

It's been 5 weeks since I've been "under review." What's the longest anyone here has been "under review" before a status change/II?

submitted in july and it took them 2-3 months to give me the hold status.

Congrats! So jealous right now,

Do you have any clue how long you were under review for?

For real!? Haha, I've thought about you multiple times today, wondering if you were going to get the letter. Sorry it didn't arrive...maybe tomorrow!

Although there is movement it's not much. Last years thread made it sound like a death sentence. Unfortunately I've been on this status since late July due to my lack of a non science faculty lor 🙁

Well I remember it took between 6-7 weeks to download my letters and I submitted mid August. So probably 3-4ish weeks under review. Sorry hope that helps
