Question for those accepted:::

On the online portal, under the Home Tab, my "Offer Response" shows up as a red exclamation point...Since I accepted their offer of admissions, I assumed a green checkmark would appear; however, that is not the case.

For those that accepted their offer, do you have a red exclamation point or green checkmark near your "Offer Response"?

Thanks.

I also have a red exclamation point for the offer response even though I accepted.

+1

Don't think its a big deal. I got a very nice email from my interviewer, who had been informed I accepted my offer and expressed excitement... so I think (hope) they know haha

I think I've just been accepted. Just checked my e-mail and Dean Grabowski has apparently been trying to get a hold of me on my old, disconnected number.

Or maybe I'm getting the VIP rejection. "This is Dean Grabowski and your application is so bad I had to call in person to tell you that you suck."

Congrats! Sounds like you've been accepted. 😀

Anyone know the days of the week OUWB sends out interview invites? Or are they just processed throughout the whole week. Been complete for 5 weeks do just wondering what days to anticipate an email if any....nervously checking all the time is no fun

I got my II on a Friday, but I was complete for about 2 months before then. Not sure if that's the only day they send them either :-/... Best of luck!

I got my II on a Wednesday, after being complete for exactly 3 weeks

Thanks for the input guys...yeah it looks pretty random, guess I'll just have to wait and see! The admissions office did tell me something about waiting 6-8 weeks, but any sooner would be awesome. Goodluck

I think they just hit 8/8 last week.. I'm waiting to hear back too 🙂 Hopefully they grant me an interview! I would love to see the school as well as potentially attend it

II just now :soexcited: my first one.

Complete early August.

II today. I withdrew my application due to running out of money, and being accepted to two schools already. I am only attending one more interview, at my state MD school later this week.

Hopefully this opens up a spot for someone else that really needs an interview opportunity this season.

Good luck to you all!!!!!

It seems like a lot of people have been accepted already for a class of 100. Nervous...:scared:

Does anyone know which date we should anticipate a call from the 10/5 interview? I was hoping the first Wednesday of November, correct?

II yesterday afternoon and scheduled for early December! Stats are 3.6/32, OOS, complete around early August.

Invite this morning!

Complete 8/2. I had just about given up on this school.

Congrats! No invite for me yet.. complete 8/8. Really wanted to interview here but we'll see what happens

rejected post interview via snail mail

Me too--glad I'm not alone (misery loves company).

This rejection really hurt. I loved the school and could definitely see myself going there.

Oh well, still waiting for my top choice school to let me in!

Congrats to those who are accepted!

If I recall correctly from interview day, I think the adcom is meeting today. Good luck to everyone!

Do you think this will impact the med school and students in a big way? Positive or negative?

Since OUWB is pretty much Beaumont's medical school and Henry Ford does not have a medical school, merging Beaumont and Henry Ford means that OUWB will be both Beaumont's and Henry Ford's in the future when they actually begin to consolidate their brands and resources. However, for the time being, OUWB is still just Beaumont's medical school, and WSUSOM contract with Henry Ford will eventually have to be renewed.

Hey all! I was accepted on 10/16 🙂love🙂, but when looking at the online portal, it says that my transcript status is still incomplete. Is this something I need to contact admissions about? Any others that were accepted with this same status? Thanks 🙂

Edit: I just clicked on the admitted student tab and saw that they require official transcripts from each degree-granting institution attended sent directly from the registrar's office. Hmmm, nevermind, I suppose. I'll get right on that 🙂

HFH is a great hospital. They have a different patient mix than even BRO and my first thought would be that it could positively expand the opportunities available to OUWB med students. Not sure if it would negatively impact WSU, especially in light of WSU's involvement with Vanguard.

I think that this will be a very interesting development to watch. HFH operates very closely with WSUSOM and I find it hard to believe that this will change. Another note is that HFH has seven hospitals compared to Beaumont's three, so as far as becoming a single entity, I would think that HFH will be more influential in making decisions as to how the two hospital systems decide to move forward because it is bringing more to the table. I've been fortunate enough to be accepted to both of these amazing schools and I feel that the way this whole merger plays out will influence my decision a lot. I also heard somewhere that this would lead to a health care system that provides 50% of the states' healthcare (compared to a previous high of 20%) and that the idea may be shot down by the state/federal government. Any other thoughts or comments on this subject?

The board comprising the merger that will be making all decisions will be half from Beaumont and half from Henry Ford. Also, Henry Ford wanted a medical school for some time now. It seems to me that Beaumont brings their school of medicine to the table in this merger because henry ford does not have one. Each system has its pros, which are listed here http://futurecareformichigan.com/about-the-partners/

Henry Ford has very close ties with Wayne and it's basically the school's primary hospital affiliation so I wouldn't exactly say they don't have a medical school; that being said, their relationship is certainly not as close as that of OU and WBH. It'll be interesting to see how they mesh everything together. I received an email from the dean at Wayne saying that she has been in close contact with "leadership" at HFH and that this will only allow their relationship to "flourish." I guess we won't know the details until these 90 days of confidential talks are over. I'm sure both schools will come out fine.

"Medical Schools: Medical education will remain a primary mission with continued commitment to all existing medical school relationships. Collaborative opportunities will be pursued to maximize value to the organization and the community."

I feel that this will end up becoming a positive collaboration for both institutions after reading the above text. Everyone wants to maximize their resources so I think both medical schools will take advantage of this.

Accepted!

Via phone call and e-mail.

Interviewed 10/4 or 10/5...Can't remember.

I know that they are both committed to medical education and maintaining existing medical school relationships. But, they are maintaining these relationships because they have to. They are under a contract with WSUSOM at the moment, so they must keep working with them. But, I am thinking about longer term commitment. Hospitals would love to have their own medical school. It increases the prestige of that hospital. So, it only makes sense that they make OUWB theirs. In addition, Beaumont has already invested millions into the school. At this moment, they will never admit this. But, take a look at what an analyst said in this article (http://ww.annarbor.com/business-rev...ann-arbor-area-health-systems-likely-minor/):

"A motivating factor for Beaumont to merge with Henry Ford could likely be the new Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine that Beaumont is sponsoring, Baumgarten said. The new relationship with the research-driven Henry Ford Medical System could help Beaumont’s school, which admitted its first students in 2011, bring in additional National Institutes of Health grants and foster the institution as a research center, Baumgarten said."

has anyone talked to admissions to see what they have to say about it?

7 weeks and still quiet. Should I give them a call after I hit 8 weeks or just told tight? I don't want to bug them if this the norm right now.

Hmm, according to their twitter (https://twitter.com/OUWBAdmissions), it seems that batches up to 10/5 were already reviewed once. If I remember correctly from interview day, Dean Grabowski said that non-rejected folks from previous batches were re-reviewed every time they made admissions decisions.... so (if that's true) the August/September folks who didn't receive a rejection are still being considered at each review (which happens on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday of each month). So you're still in the running - hope you get good news soon!

(OUWB has a super friendly admissions staff though, so if you're concerned after 8 weeks, you can probably call 'em up. :luck:)

I had emailed admissions and they told me that if you haven't yet been rejected it means you're still in the running and an acceptance can happen now until August 2013. :xf:

Thanks for the positive notes! Looks like ill just keep playing the waiting game with the rest of the gang lol don't mind if its not a rejection. Hope everyone hears some good news soon!
