So sorry about the recent rejections. I am a little bewildered.

Since they aren't busy screening for & coordinating interviews anymore, do we think they are meeting & making decisions more often now?

Anybody know what days they are meeting, is it a set two days a week, one, three? Are the days consistent? This iofo may be helpful to people's data plans as well as senses of sanity haha. Good luck to late February interviewers who should hear soon.

I've heard Tuesdays and Thursdays.

So they send out decisions right away. I mean you guys heard yesterday, so they decided and changes your status within minutes? Or do you think those are last Thursday decisions and Tuesday's are released Thursday?

I've been on hold for a whole day and I don't how I'm going to wait till May 15th. Hurrrrrrrry up please, k thanks. 🙂

From what I've seen on here it would seem that status updates are typically done on Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm guessing that our decisions were made last week but their release was delayed because people were out of the office on spring break (such as Ms. Guertin). I could be wrong though, that's just what I've gathered from this thread.

I'm having a hard time accepting that my interview was less than 2 weeks ago. I have a big scholarship interview on May 3 and I really hope I hear back by then.

Ooo good luck! And congrats on UW 😉 A good number of my friends got in but I got a straight up rejection post-interview. Lame.

Ha I know the feeling. Almost at 4 months myself

It almost gets better with time (2+ months here)....naaaahhh....I'm just saying that to try to be nice 🙂

I think you'll be okay. Six full weeks with no new interviewees getting added to the mix...it's likely you'll hear something by then.

I thought it got better with time for a bit, like up until mid March, but since then it has only gotten significantly worse. Probably because I had other things going on between being put on hold in November and am now just constantly thinking about where I am going to go if accepted to X or Y school... Lets just say I'm stressin' out at this point.

Probably not going to get any easier going forward.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with Ms. Guertin, as my acceptance was from Ms. Zook. But I do think they've been meeting on T/Rs.

Good luck! We're rooting for you.

Jeeze, I feel for all of you on hold. No amount of "hang in there" sentiment will come close to even touching those feelings of utter anxiety. I know. I've been there during my first cycle and nothing came to fruition (thank GOD!). But that just goes to show, even if it doesn't work out the first time, perhaps the second or third all the way up to the fifth will be even better (yep, know someone that it took 5 times to get in).

All that aside, I think each and every one of you knows that I'm 100% behind you and hope to see you become one of my classmates! :luck:

I've only been on hold a little over two weeks and I already feel like I'm going insane! I can't imagine what it must be like being on hold since November 🙁 Since OHSU is my only option this cycle I'm trying to prep for the next cycle and studying to retake the MCAT at the end of April but it is so hard to focus and concentrate knowing there might be the slightest of chances getting in this cycle. I've been telling myself just to pretend I've been rejected already so that I can focus more but it doesn't seem to be working :/ Anyone else retaking the MCAT or working on their app for next year in the same boat?

I was in the same boat last year. That's all you can do: Assume you're rejected and rejoice if you're wrong. Do the very best you can at improving your app. It'll pay off in the end. Good luck! At least you no longer have to practice the essays!

I am in the same boat minus having to retake the MCAT.

Thanks! Yes, the essays I have down! Now if only I can conquer the MCAT it remains the bane of my existence 🙁 Also, congratulations on your acceptance Guero! I've been lurking on here forever and I was hoping you'd get in this cycle, it's amazing how many supporters you have up here. You must feel so relieved to be able to stop worrying and waiting and start making real plans. 🙂

Well hopefully we will at least know before submitting the next app, only 41 more days till May 15th! (I'm going to assume I'm not the only pre-med to be neurotically counting down 😀 )

Waitlisted until 5/15/2013.

Interviewed on 2/15 (with Jeff and Dianyla). 35R/4.0/Foreigner currently residing in WA state.

This is really odd. Both West coast schools waitlisted me -- and I thought my application was geared up specifically for them.

Luckily, the East coast and fly-over states' schools did not seem to have as much problem with my application/interviewing skills. So, I guess I am off to rent a moving truck... Yay for cross country moving (again).

Good luck to all OHSU matriculants (I know a good dozen of them personally, so it will be an awesome class).

Thank you (and everyone else) for your support! It was definitely nice to see so many people rooting for me as I sat in utter anxiety waiting. I never once thought it'd end like this, either. I was expecting a best case scenario of April hold + May waitlist and a worst case scenario of auto-rejection, especially considering how freaked I was about my one-on-one. So yes, it literally feels like I just won the lottery! But I have much ahead of me: a huge move and one more accelerated class while working full-time, which also costs a good bit of money. Nevertheless, I'd do it all 10 times over to be in this position; so I'm not complaining. 🙂

Wow, so sorry to hear you're in that position. But at least it sounds like you have myraid options elsewhere, congrats! Who knows, maybe we'll meet up on our cross-country moves! LoL

I also struggled with the MCAT, mostly because I am a procrastinator by nature and didn't force myself to adequately prepare. I finally bought the Kaplan set of 5 review books and forced myself to go through a good portion of them throwing a couple practice tests in to make sure I was actually making progress. I made a study schedule/calendar and tried to stick with it. It meant very little sleep for about a month prior to the exam (work full time, part-time student, and a family) but it was worth it. Be diligent, my friend, you can do it! And hopefully you won't need it 🙂

Yes, you have quite the journey ahead of you but it will all be worth it come August when you can don that white coat 🙂 Your best case scenario is exactly mine, hope for a hold and then an adequate waitlist spot. I think worse than an auto-reject come May 15th would be missing an acceptance by one waitlist spot, current nightmare of the week :scared: lol

Sadly this will be my 4th go around, I have never been good at standardized testing and have tried both the Kaplan books and currently on my second online course. It is so frustrating because I'm getting to the point of not knowing what else to change study wise. My score has improved each time, just not enough. I'm worried since I've now been out of school for a year that my score is going to drop. I have set myself a very strict study calendar and hoping that this time since I'm no longer a full time student on top of working full time that I can pull it off but we will see. I predict a lot of coffee and very little sleep in my future 🙂 I'm glad you finally conquered it though!

Hello all.

Congrats to everyone who heard good news, and for those still waiting-- hang in there. I hope you guys will have your patience rewarded.

I was wondering if it were possible to receive application feedback from the adcom, even though I never received an interview (was placed directly on hold and then rejected)?

Yes, I did that two application cycles ago...although they made me wait until June which makes is pretty impossible to take any advice given (especially if it is something along the lines of needing more clinical experience or higher MCAT) and have those improvements ready by the start of the next cycle. I ended up skipping a cycle in an attempt to really get the application to sparkle.

I'm in the same boat, my friend. Having family, friends, and a partner in Oregon makes it particularly stressful to think about not getting into OHSU. Frankly, I cannot afford not to get in. I can't re-apply another time, and I've moved around my entire life only to find Oregon one of the only places outside of my native country to call home. I'd give anything for a seat. I think my dedication became a little too apparent when I asked Katy Guertin if a kidney donation would secure me a spot 😀 Joking of course... I think... 😉

Has anyone called lately to check on the number of acceptances given out yet?

I e-mailed Katy either yesterday or the day before (yesterday, I think) but haven't heard back.
Awesome, thanks for at least trying to check. I thought waiting would get easier but lately it seems like every day that passes brings more anxiety about waiting to hear somethjng

Should be news today perhaps, good luck to the next round!!

No news Friday huh...hopefully there is a big handful of acceptances waiting to go out next week!!

I made a strict calendar, studied hard for 3 months not working and still got sub-30 MCAT. The next year, I took the Princeton Review online class (shelled out almost $2K for it) and worked full time and studied in my spare time. I took 2 weeks vacation and really studied hard except one day before the MCAT and got over a 30, so I can only speak good things about PR classes.

Well I really really hope I don't ever have to take this test again but that is really good to know! I've heard mixed reviews on the PR courses and I've had friends ask for suggestions. One of my friends is in the same boat as me with the MCAT so we have decided to have a ceremonial burning of the MCAT materials once we both finally break 30 🙂

Radio silence via SDN. I am wondering if their decision/meeting dates change from week to week.

If you hit 2 after the recording you will get Kathy Bowden who is beyond helpful and in the past has been able to tell me number of acceptances given out. If she does not answer leave a message... she ALWAYS calls back.

I bet you it has something to do with the fact that they're done interviewing. Maybe they're busy devising the waitlist ranks already...?

I am still hoping they do a first pass through everyone before final deliberations. I'm kind of losing it.

K, I'll call after 3:00 this afternoon.

Status updated to HOLD today.

Interviewed 3/1 OOS...only 5 more weeks of waiting!
