for accepted students how long till you received the deposit forms etc? also are there any Facebook or social network sites to join?

I got an email about the deposit a few days later. Still haven't received an email confirming they got it though. I'm assuming they did though since I received scholarship and RU Portal information. And here is the Facebook group!

Thanks for the info GraMaire, I really appreciate the help!

As a side note, I emailed admissions about the waitlist updates and it looks like it still might be another month before they ask for us to send stuff.

Yes, thank you so so much GraMaire. You've been a tremendous help!

Rajan,
Did they say anything about waitlisted applicants and second look? I emailed them about a week ago about updates and second look and they haven't responded yet. Did you email the RMC Admissions or RMC Interviews email address?

I've been emailing RMC admissions and they have actually been very quick with responses. As for second look day, I was actually invited through this online evite thing a while ago. You should definitely ask for the link becuase the description states that waitlisted students can come.

does anyone know if they accept additional LOR for waitlist applicants? I am sure my PI would be more than happy to write me one, but I don't want him to go through the extra trouble if they aren't even accepting them.

I never received an online evite thing so do you think they only invite certain waitlisted applicants?

I asked about the additional LOR and I can let you know what they say if I get a response.

I'm having the same problem deciding what things to get ready for updates. But when I emailed about these questions, I was told that the admissions commitee has not yet decided what they would like from waistlisted students and we should know more in about a month. Due to that sentence, it leads me to believe that we might not be asked to turn in too much?Except I was also told that they have accepted rec letters in the past. Thats all the information I've got.

Just checked the evite email and I got it on March 8th. I believe they weren't even done with interviewing by that time, so perhaps shes sending out another batch of invites once they send out their final acceptances? Just my own personal theory though...

Hopefully they get out an answer to you regarding second look day and other stuff :)

Thank you Rajan!! That makes me feel so much better haha. I didn't find out my decision until March 29th.
Yay :) :)

hmm thanks, i guess it's better to be prepared than the other way around

A little birdy tells me that they actually do accept and consider LOI unofficially. They dont make a formal request but they do put it in the file apparently.

(And to clarify they might tell you its not considered, but I got the nod that it is actually haha so sneaky!)

Any other March 27th interviewees expecting to hear back tomorrow? Because I know I am. Hoping I don't have to wait until the next week, that'll be disappointing

Oh my word. Yes. I'm having a hard time concentrating on anything except refreshing my email inbox.

Just got a second look invite. Interviewed on the 27th. Haven't gotten a decision email yet, but I am guessing there will be one coming soon giving the second look email.

Congrats to the newly accepted! Come join the facebook group! Search for Rush Medical College Class of 2017

So after some agonizing back and forth I have decided to withdraw from Rush. Can anyone let me know how Rush like people to go about withdrawing? Is an email fine? Thanks!

Edit: NVM, decided to just email them. Good luck everyone, especially those waitlisted!

Have any other waitlisted ppl sent in updates/LOIs? I'm just wondering when I should send stuff in. Should I wait until after Second Look Day? They haven't sent out the email requesting updates.

Edit: Thank you Akeelah!!!!

I have been on the dreaded waitlist since December, and I emailed them a few days ago to get a better idea when they may ask for update material. They got back to me very quickly, letting me know it won't be for at least another 2 weeks or so.

I was wondering the same thing because may 15 is actually getting close. Thanks for letting us know!

Anyone know what the curriculum is like?

First and second years are block-scheduled, systems-based. The first year is the usual normal structure/function (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, embryology); the second year is pathology/pathophysiology/pharmacology/microbiology. Lectures are held in the morning and are usually optional. Small group workshops and sessions are held in the afternoons and are almost always mandatory. These courses are graded as honors/pass/fail.

There is also a parallel two-year course called "physicianship," which covers the non-science aspects of medicine and health care. It includes your outpatient community preceptorship (the "Student Continuity Experience") as well as instruction in patient interviewing and physical exam skills. The physicianship course is pass/fail.

Your required clerkships during 3rd year are in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, ob/gyn, neuro, psych, and a four-week ambulatory rotation in either internal or family med. There is a required rotation in emergency medicine that is during 4th year.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Regarding the first two years, how long are the morning lectures and the after noon group sessions? Are they every day of the week? How long is the break between lecture and group sessions?

Mornings are 8 to noon at most and optional for the most part. Dissections are required as are a few other things.

Afternoons are 1 to 5pm at most. Absolutely not everyday. Fridays are always free except for electives. This week I have two afternoons totally free and 3 days with two hour long sessions and thats a heavier week for me.

With respect to Fridays being free, this is true for first year, but not for second year. Just to clarify.

ETA: lecture-hours are supposed to be 50 minutes each, so you get 10 minutes of break between lectures.

I sent in my update letter earlier this week but never received a confirmation. Did anyone get one?

I was also wondering this because I sent a couple things. I emailed them to ask if there was any way I could confirm that my materials were in. I'll let you know if I hear back!

I received a confirmation email shortly after on weds. Don't worry maybe he just hasn't gotten to you guys yet bc of how many ppl are submitting updates.

Hey guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I heard from a little birdy that the incoming class is overly full and Jill is not expecting any WL movement this year. I'm telling you, because I'd want to know if I was in your position. I'm sorry this is the case and wish you all the best of luck.

Thanks for letting us know GraMaire, even though it was definitely hard to read :(
Just wondering if you know the approx number of students holding on to seats by any chance?

This is such a disappointment.

This isnt set in stone of course, as it depends on how many drop (I dont know how many people are holding a spot right now) as they get into other schools off WL but Jill is not planning on any May acceptances as of this week.

Sorry again, guys.

Edit: just heard of 1 WL acceptance 7/29/13

Hi guys, just wondering if there's anyone out there going to Loyola, Rush, or UIC who would be interested in rooming together. I won't actually be a student at the med school but I'm a full-time research assistant at Rush so I want to split the rent with someone while still living in a decent/safe neighborhood. Any takers?

I'm looking for a male roommate to split a two bedroom with.
Also, I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I tried to look for a roommate forum but there wasnt one. Please redirect me if there is.
