I just got an interview for TUESDAY! Wow so close, I am scheduled for 7:15am the email didn't say when the interview would be complete, can anyone help me out so I know when to schedule a flight?
I always schedule them for the next day to ensure I'm not rushed and so I can enjoy the city. Otherwise, when I'm in a rush, it's safe to say a 7p flight will give you plenty of time to finish the day and hit the airport, as general rule. Congrats!

Another "not selected at this time" email today..

Just got an ii by phone. I didn't answer my phone soon enough, so they left a message offering me either the 12th or 15th and to call back by 3 pm. I called back within minutes and left a message that the 15th would work but the 12th would not because I'm at another interview that date. When I didn't see an email confirmation, I called back multiple times until I finally got through and they said they only had the 12th left and didn't check their voice mail. I'm scrambling to make it work (I have interviews at other schools on the 11th and 13th and it is very difficult to schedule the 12th.)
I kind of feel that I am not the candidate they are looking for so it may not be worth it. I am OOS (Montana - WICHE), former Arizona Resident for 27 years, Graduated from and Arizona High School and Northern Arizona University. 3.61 GPA, 3.67 BCPM, 31Q MCAT. Solid LOR (I'm told in my other interviews - I have no idea I don't get to read them, LOL) many years of leadership experience, volunteer experience and research. I'm an older/non-traditional candidate which is why I have so many ECs.
I applied to and was rejected by University of Arizona Phoenix, preinterview.
They made it sound like if I didn't take the 12th, there were really no other options and no other interviews coming up, but perhaps they just wanted me to make it a priority to make it to their interview.
I do like the Tucson area and have a lot of family in Arizona.
Anyway, just thought you all would like to hear, those who haven't been invited to interview but aren't rejected yet.

Same here. Does anyone know if they actually send out rejections or does everyone get thrown into the "active candidate pool"

They do not reject until later on in the process when they send out final decisions and either waitlist or reject those who weren't accepted.

Thanks for sharing. That makes it seem less likely that they'd give someone like me an interview, an OOS applicant with a slightly lower MCAT and a penchant to live in AZ rather than historical ties. 🙁

I haven't gotten this email, but I got the first one like that that was sent out. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.😕

when did you get your first one? check your junk, they send them out every two weekish

Has anyone talked to the admissions board recently regarding an estimate of how many seats are left thus far in the admission season?

No But they interviewed 80 people on Sat and I think they plan to interview 80 people this week?! Kinda crazy!! lol

Yeah they interviewed 80 on Saturday, and two interviews of 80 EACH this week. So they're interviewing 240 in a span of 7 days. Keep in mind its just a class of 120 :scared:

OMG....so they interview like 600 in total lol....I'm beginning to feel like cattle lol

Nice-but LONG day!

I didn't really think so. I actually thought lunch took the longest.

I thought 8 to 2:30 was pretty short. I was hoping to see more of their hospital facilities, to be honest, but I imagine you can't escort 20 people around your floors without causing some commotion, and affecting the ability of MD's and nurses to get their job done. Their Peds department, or at least what we saw of it, was definitely amazing though.

i don't remember seeing the hospital on my tour at all; i think the hospital itself is pretty nice. not the largest hospital so you won't get lost but big enough that as a med student you will see all the variety you need. The ED/Peds floors/ICU are all brand new and they have been renovating the other floors which are still in fine shape. Most of the patients you will see though will be in the redone part of the hospital. there are also 3 other hospitals that you may rotate through (all within 15 minutes of the main campus). One is a community hospital, one is the "county" hospital (quotes because it is under the wing of UA) and the VA which is very nice for a VA.
i assure you that as a med student, this hospital is more than you could want and you won't be lacking.

Yeah. I come from a background with years of experience in radiology, as well as working closely with ED's and Inpatient floors. The surrounding demographics in the Tucson area lead me to believe that you'll have PLENTY of opportunity to see all kinds of cases.

I'm pretty excited about the possibility of being a Wildcat in the fall.

Rejected via email today. I'm so sad. Stats and such are available on my MDApps for those interested. This will be my last post. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to contact me. I wish the rest of you the best of luck. :luck:

Me too. I REJECT YOU FIRST! (Already accepted to a school in my home state.)

Hmmm no rejection email here and I'm OOS / haven't been interviewed (or invited to). They probably lost my application haha. Did anything on your status pages change??

I called today and they said that they'd let everyone know whether or not they got an interview invite by the 18th! Good luck 🙂

When I interviewed last week; the admissions staff reported they interviewed 80 on Saturday (2/9) and 20 on both Tuesday (2/12) and Friday (2/15). Therefore, during their final week of interviews, 120 people were interviewed. A total of 525 people were interviewed throughout the season for a class size of 115. Yowza! But it is a great school, with a lot of wonderful opportunities...best of luck to all!

That's What I thought...525 is a lot 👎

I know...but there is usually a lot of movement on the wait list. Two years ago they went up to 78!
So...if we think of it that way, there are 525 going for....180 seats? Eternal optimism for the win!

I just can't imagine interviewing 80 people in one day....yikes!

And last year they went up to 80! Does anyone know how many acceptances they have sent out so far?

Finally got the rejection, pre-interview, email. Maybe I'll see some of you at the Re-applicant Advising in May? Anyone know if this is at all worthwhile (ie- is there a chance to hear anything about my individual application and why they may have looked over me?)

I'm also an IS applicant who received a pre-interview rejection today. I was complete back in August and received the original hold email in October. My stats are 33S/3.9/3.9 with decent ECs (no Spanish, which I have a feeling played a large role).

The email did state that in the Re-applicant Advising in May "there will be no opportunity for individual application advising." It will probably have a large variety of broad suggestions for people to improve in a year, but since everybody has different strengths and weakness, it may not be very productive unless you are already in Tucson.

As an IS applicant with no acceptances (and only two II) this cycle, this rejection hurt. I was hoping I could count on my IS school. Best of luck to those still in the running!!

Also rejected today. OOS pre-interview. Congrats and good luck to those of you who made it farther than I did!

Annnnnd...rejected twice within a 3 day span. Thanks for the 2 rejection emails Tuscon.

So are they done interviewing for the season? I got the hold in October but haven't received a rejection yet.....?

Anyone else in pre-interview limbo? I was put on hold back in October and haven't heard anything since

I can tell you with confidence that not speaking spanish is no way the reason you were rejected. I would venture to say that if your ECs were only "decent" that is where the problems lie. Obviously I have not seen your whole package but I know many people who have been accepted and matriculated with significantly lower stats and no spanish (myself included). I will say, without exception, every single person in my class had outstanding ECs. If you would like more specific comments or advise feel free to PM me. Better luck in the future!

Anyone receive a still under review/acceptance email recently? I think it's been about two weeks since the last one...?

I'm wondering the same thing. My last hold email was a little over two weeks ago I think. When I interviewed in November they said they would make the wait list in March. Hopefully we will hear something soon!

They said at my interview that they will send another round by the end of the month, and the last round before waitlist decisions will be in Mar h. Waitlist will be decided by the end of March
