Interview Invite yesterday evening. I was also one of the "app not completed" group.

Love this school. I was complete 2 weeks ago...OOS Interview Invite....Can anyone tell me what are the admission stats for this school both overall and oos if possible?
Number applied
Number interviewed
Number accepted
Number matriculated

My timeline went something like this (I am OOS):
8/29- Received Secondary
8/30- Secondary Submitted
9/8- Everything was marked complete
9/27- Interview Invite
Scheduled the Interview for 10/29

Number applied: AZ 665, Non-AZ 2004
Number interviewed: AZ 302, Non-AZ 205
Number accepted: AZ 84, Non-AZ 61
Number matriculated: AZ 51, Non-AZ 29

Hi Tara,

I was wondering if Phoenix looked at letters of updates favorably or do you prefer we not send any updates?

Thanks for answering all our questions!

Updates are really quite tough to manage - your file has been released and reviewed, so the likelihood of a single update making a significant difference is very slim.

We struggle with this aspect, too. For now, we have settled on no updates unless we ask you for something (grades, for ex).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks Tara....how hard would say it is to gain in state residency for tuition purposes?

Thanks Tara....how hard would say it is to gain in state residency for tuition purposes?

The central campus (Office of the Registrar) determines residency decisions, not the individual College. From what we have experienced, our students who petition for in-state status for tuition purposes have been successful (nearly 70% have been awarded in-state status).

I am at the SpringHill Suites. I can see the medical building from the pool area. It is as impressive looking in person as it is in pictures. I am going to go explore a little bit on foot while I wait for my room to be ready. I want to see all that I can see while I am here today.

Getting excited for the meet and greet tonight and the interview tomorrow.

cool! how is the weather? good luck!!

cool! how is the weather? good luck!!

I will just say that the weather is not "cool" 🙂

I did go out walking for a bit this afternoon. I checked out some apartments almost right across the street from campus. They were very nice. A little spendy, but very nice and convenient.

I also walked past the science museum, but did not have the time to go in. I then had to shower before walking the 2-3 blocks past the new health science building to where the first years were putting on their social.

They were all really nice, and enthusiastic about sharing their school with us. The food was top notch. It was advertised as light appetizers so don't expect dinner.

I think that my wife would really like it here. The close to downtown feel, the weather, and the SHOPPING! Everyone that I have met has been really nice and talkative. I am enjoying this trip so far. 🙂

good luck on your interview tomorrow :luck:

good luck on your interview tomorrow :luck:
Thank you. I am super excited. But I am also curious that I am the only neurotic SND person posting. There are supposed to be 22 or so people interviewing...

Breakfast at the hotel does not start for another 30 minutes so I have some time to kill. I will talk about the hotel. I am at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott. The on-line rate was close to $200, but call them up and tell them UA Phoenix and the room was $105 + about $13 tax. It is about half a block and across a street from the Health Sciences building. I had to walk past the health sciences building last night to get to the social "get together" that was put on by the first year students.

Complimentary van shuttle to and from the airport. I called once I was off the plane, and by the time that I walked out to the pick-up location I only had to wait about 5 minutes for the van. Very prompt service! They will even let me come back after the interview (4:00) and hang out in the lobby and take me back to the airport at 6:00 for my 8:45 flight. Shuttles only return to the airport at the top of each hour.

The pool at the hotel was nice and cool when it was hot out in the mid-afternoon, but a little too cool to go into in the evening.

The bed is similar to my memory foam mattress at home. Very nice to sleep in.

The people at the front desk were all friendly and wonderful to me. The gal that checked me in was talking up a storm, and was actually trying to hold a conversation with me, not just process me through like some piece of meat.

Overall I am very happy that I stayed at SpringHill Suites.

Anyone else submit around 9/13 still waiting for an interview invite? My wife is getting tired of me calling home from work everyday to ask her to check my email 😀.

Tara,
Would we get notified if our courses do not satisfy the prerequisite requirement so that we have time to register for the spring semester?

Thanks!

Submitted 9/6, then an in the area email last week for December, and still no II. :-( Top coice school, too. There's still plenty of time, though. I'm just eager. Hang in there, you're very much not alone.

Yuuuuuuuuuup! Complete 9/12 and nada. I'm OOS, though.

Posted that 6/25. Interviewed here today. Statement still rings true. Awesome school.

I really liked the school. it was very nice. the students did not seem overly stressed even though it is exam week for them. I thought the sim lab was cool. the three hour leimit to lecture may be good/bad depending on learning style. It would be good for me... I think.

MMI was... interesting. I can't say too much about it except I anticipated about half of the stations and about half of the others were "normal" interview type questions phrased in a situation that made it self contained. There were a couple of questions that left me wondering what they were measuring. If I said too much just let me know and I will delete this paragraph.

overall it was a long day and I really hope to get an acceptance here. I would choose this school over Nova or OHSU. That is saying a lot considering OHSU is my state school.

forgive spelling and punctuation. I am typing this on my Kindle keyboard while at the airport waiting for my flight at 8:45. I have another hour to wait before boarding.

Yes, you'll be notified if you are offered an interview invitation and still have outstanding courses to complete. We will complete our interview invitations by mid-December.

Oh dsoz, you make me want an interview here so much more given I know how great OHSU is!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the school!

Congrats! I thought it was a great experience. The whole trip was nice. At least up to the point when I got onto the airplane coming home and there was a screaming brat that cried the entire three hour flight home. I didn't land until after 11:00 pm, didn't get home until close to midnight, and got up just after 5:00 to go to work today. LOL. Time for some more acting while at work.

Does UoA Phoenix have scholarship funds for students from disadvantaged backgrounds- low income families (as in income family <50000)?

Does UoA Phoenix have scholarship funds for students from disadvantaged backgrounds- low income families (as in income family <50000)?

Need-based aid awards (grants and some scholarships) are based on the FAFSA Student Aid Report Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). $50k income is different if you are single or if you are raising a family of 4, so I cannot answer your specific question with limited info.

General rule of thumb: students at UA Phoenix Med receive maybe 10% support in term of free aid - all else is funded by loans (Fed and GradPlus).

Tip: GradPlus is a credit-bearing loan. Run your credit report now to determine your credit worthiness. Items 60-90 days late, Bankruptcy and Foreclosures will require an Endorser. Identifying a possible Endorser now will make your life much easier down the road. Also, use graduation money or other monetary gifts to PAY DOWN your consumer debt! As Keli Palmer, assistant director of financial aid says "live like a doctor-in-training and not like a doctor". Keep your overhead as low as possible!

Congrats to those of you who got an interview! Good luck! I was wondering if anyone got any updates? I'm pretty anxious... been complete since early Sept. Any idea when next batch of rejections are coming? (i know II's are conducted daily..). Apologies to bother!

Ok makes sense, for instance if it's a family of 4 total income 50,000, would it make a difference in terms of how much free aid is provided?

Wendy and I are at the AMSA ARC/UCD premed conference today-tomorrow. If you're in the area, come by our table and say hi. I'll be a panelist at the Dean's session tomorrow morning and leading a workshop on "How to Choose the Right School for You" from 1-5 (4 concurrent presentations).

Davis, CA is such a beautiful place! Love visiting here every year, supporting this amazing event!

Congrats! Do you mind if I ask when your interview is? I sent an in the area letter for December a while back and haven't heard anything. :-( I'm wondering if they're even on December interviews yet...

I haven't signed up for my interview date yet, but there are interview dates opened for November and December.

Are the Interview Invites sent out on a rolling basis? I was marked complete 9/10 and have not heard anything back yet. I am curious if I am re-evaluated based on the new pool of applicants since then.

Thanks!

II just now. 3.6/29 OOS. hopefully this gives hope for us lower stat applicants!

YAHOO!

I would recommend the SpringHome Suits in downtown Phoenix. Great place to stay. Walking distance to the interview and a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. Nice breakfast too.

Hint: eat before you go to the interview. They advertise breakfast, but eat anyway. It is a long day if you don't have some Calories in you before you get there.

I never got a complete email but I submitted pretty early. I was one of the ones who's letters didn't download initially so I was a little delayed in being complete.

Thanks dsoz! I'll keep it in mind but I'm hoping for a student host so I can save some $$. Just dropped way too much on this flight, but hopefully in the end it will all be worth it :xf:

I was hoping for a student host as well. But they were in a test week and the students were all stressed out over the exam so none of them wanted to host us.

I hope that you have a different experience and get a host. They were all very nice when they were helping us at the interview and at the hosted evening the night before.

Although, the SpringHill was only $105 + $13 tax for the night if you ask for the U of A rate. Not bad for a nice place right next to downtown.

Interview invite here as well! I'm extremely excited, already booked my ticket! 😀

Grats to all of you with interviews!!

But.. I. Am. So. Bummed. I have similar stats, sent an in the area email, and everything. :barf:
