I didn't hear back till almost exactly one week before my interview, maybe less. They'll give you the info when they email you the interview prep/info file(s).

Hey everyone,

Last year, I interviewed at UC Davis, but got rejected afterwards. Do you think there is a chance that I will get another interview this year? Or am I just dreaming.. lol

hey if anyone knows the answer to this question, it will save me a call to the admissions office tomorrow - on the secondary and their website, it says two different things about the math requirement.. does it HAVE to be calculus??? what if it's precalculus? what if I take two types of stats classes? anyone anyone??? thanks in advance.. freaking out here if ya can't tell

At my uni precalc is not considered college level maths. It's technically a high school maths course, so it's a remedial course taken in college. Anyway, I think you'll have to contact admissions to figure out the semantics.

Would an upper division endocrinology course satisfy the upper division biology requirement? I am currently taking the endocrin class right now, and I won't be taking a genetics course till the spring..is it to my benefit to have the course completed in the fall rather than the spring?

Finished secondary this past weekend, so was on their desk Monday morning.

Geez. That was lightening fast.

I submitted my secondary on 8/19, so they got my app on monday too. I applied to the prime programs, so I am convincing myself that they are taking a longer time because they are reading my prime essays.

Not sure about endo (heard that class was awesome with hayes), but you just need to have it done before you matriculate, which you will since you're taking genetics, so you're good.

Go bears! 😉

how often are new interview dates added?? I currently dont see any that i can sign up for

Damn that's fast turnaround. What were ur stats?

I know, I was pleasantly surprised! So excited to have the opportunity to interview here!

Congratulations and good luck with the interview!!!! I'm still hoping for mine. I live like 10 min from UC Davis so an interview here would be convenient and very welcomed!

Thank you so much! Best of luck to you too 🙂

I just realized that I don't satisfy their math requirement. I have one semester statistics and one semester computer science...along with AP calc which doesn't count.

Can I still apply, with plans of taking calc before matriculation if they were to accept me?

i dont know if anyone knows the answer to this but its worth a try.

So i didnt put my intended 7/26/12 mcat date on my primary because i didnt want to be put on hold for secondaries and i wasnt sure if I was going to void it (I already had a 30 so I wanted to go forward with the process and everything). I got my score (a 35) on 8/28/12 and I updated my amcas app right away. I checked with most of the schools I applied to to make sure that they got my new score and all of them (including all of the UCs except for davis) said they got it.

Now Davis is saying that they dont have my new scores and that my application has already been assigned to a screener. The lady that I talked to on the phone keeps telling me that everything they have is from when they downloaded my app on 8/17 and they ight download new info, but there are no guarantees.

Des anyone know how I can get my new score in? Davis is one of my top choices and I am desperate! 😕

If I were you I would send an email (including your name & AAMC ID) explaining your situation. This way, at least they have it on record. Obviously take this with a grain of salt, but that's what I would do.

I would imagine that a 30 should be good enough to get you a secondary if you have good ECs & GPA.. so hopefully you get the secondary and you can just put it in there.

Good luck 🙂

I got the secondary on 8/17, submitted on 8/26, and I was complete on 8/31 (cause that is when my letters of rec went through). I updated my amcas app to say I took the 7/26 mcat on 8/26. The woman I talked to says that once they get the initial download from AMCAS, they dont download any updates after. I also sent an email, but the same lady that answers the phone also answers the emails; she was in the process of responding to my email when I called :/

i just want to make sure I am competitive for an interview cause I have good ECs, but a cGPA of 3.42 and a sGPA of 3.19 (from Berkeley). I have a really good upward trend though.

HI All,

I know most of you are past this stage, so you might have some words of advice...

Can you submit a secondary without your letters in? I mean just submitting, not being complete, but I do not see any submit button anywhere? Is it because my payment hasn't processed yet, or is it just impossible to submit until the letters are in?

I know that my letters will take another week or so, but my secondary is done and I am really excited about Davis (i got my secondary about 2 weeks ago already too)

Any advice would be amazing...

I forgot how UC Davis secondaries work because I submitted them a month ago, but in general I remember submitting all 20 of my secondaries a week before my letters got in. They won't review your application until your secondaries come in, which I'm sure you know anyhow. I don't know about that submit button for UC Davis, but yeah for all of my schools I wanted to turn in my secondaries first so that the medical schools could see that I actually did them early and stuff. Hope this helps!

Hey- thanks so much for the feedback. I realized I did not write "not applicable" in one box so there was no submit button. Must get moving now!!!!

Is there anyone out there who has already gone through the interview day at Davis? Obviously you can't share details about the actual interview, but could someone just describe the schedule of interview day/clinic visits?

Thanks! 🙂

I couldn't stay until Saturday for the clinic visit, but here's the structure of the day:

Morning: Orientation, 1/2 the group does the MMI session

Lunch: (lots of med students showed up and there was a short "Why Davis" presentation by the M-2s)

Afternoon: 1/2 the group has a Meet the Dean session and tours the school/hospital. Then there's a brief wrap up session.

Congrats on getting an interview and good luck! They really do a great job of making you feel welcomed and comfortable there. You'll have a great time!

Anyone know anything about getting the chance of getting off the wait-list? I heard mixed opinions about getting off it, some said nearly everyone does, while other say its pretty much impossible.

Thx!

Hey sorry, let me see if I understand. When you say 1/2 the group does the MMI, you mean 1/2 the group does MMI while the other does the orientation, then they switch? & then everyone does lunch etc. (basically everyone does the MMI in the morning & everyone meets the dean in the afternoon?)

Also, how long are you outside/how far are you walking? I imagine it's hot up there right now!

& did you stay with a student host? I haven't received any info on how to set it up.

Thanks for dealing with all of my questions! I'm a bit nervous and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into 🙂 Thank you for the info & well wishes! Best of luck to you too

I interviewed there too, and you pretty much got it spot on, LALFL. Half the group goes to MMI while the other half goes on tours and such. The groups merge at lunch and then switch after that. You're walking around outside for a little under and hour and it's pretty hot. I say wear a T-shirt under your suit!

And yeah, I stayed with a host. They don't send you that information until a week before your interview date. Kind of nerve-wrecking putting off your housing plans till that late, but they do come through.

And I'll tell ya man, there is nothing I can say that will calm your nerves about that interview, but they'll reassure you all morning... the MMI is really chill. It's fun. You'll do great. I of course can't tell you anything specific about it, but it's really a cool experience. Nothing to worry about. 🙂

Awesome, I really appreciate it!

Sorry but same question here anyine know anything about the interview waitlist and how much people they take?

good question. does the interview waitlist actually interview people (or is this sort of some soft-rejection)? do they ever interview before january?

I got my AMCAS certified on 7/31, but still no Davis secondary. Is it unusual to have such a delay?

Yeah I'm out of state. 32T and 3.6gpa with research exp. I figured I'd get something by now, but I guess if it's normal, we'll see

Submitted secondary 8/1 but haven't heard back. the wait is killing me...

hang in there folks, same here. Is it abnormal that I am losing sleep over this waiting? It is getting to the point that I feel like I won't wish this upon my worst enemy...oh wel, maybe I should/would, but you get the idea.

My interview is in a few weeks... how do I sign up for a host?

Pretty much exactly a week before the interview they'll send you the stuff for that. Is pretty last minute.

I have my interview tomorrow. They told me 2 days ago basically that they're sorry but couldn't find me a host so I scrambled to get a hotel.

So MMIs are pretty chill then? I'm wondering if they ask you much about personal things or if it's more about reacting to situational questions.

Oh if anybody was wondering, I got verified at the end of July and got the II a little less than a month later.

The MMI is chill. It's a lot of fun. I don't want to give anything away because the lack of knowing what you're going into is pretty central to the experience. I was pretty nervous going into it because it was my first interview, but it's really nothing to be afraid of. Have a good time, it's a blast. 🙂

Lol ok! You're making it sound like a surprise birthday party haha.

II today; complete late july/ early aug
3.6/32/+ECs OOS
Ahh this is good to hear. I was thinking they passed early august-ers over by now but i guess not!
Will keep checking status.

Hi guys, I know the secondary rush is over now but I'm still working on them. I submitted my secondary last week but I'm still not complete. When I check the status page, everything is checked green except for the prerequisites section. Do I have to have my prereqs completed to be considered complete for the school? If so, I won't be able to before the due date... 🙁
