Hi guys, I know the secondary rush is over now but I'm still working on them. I submitted my secondary last week but I'm still not complete. When I check the status page, everything is checked green except for the prerequisites section. Do I have to have my prereqs completed to be considered complete for the school? If so, I won't be able to before the due date... 🙁

No, you forgot to click/initial something at the bottom. This happened to me too. Login again and go to that prereq page.. scroll alll the way down and there is something (clicking a box or initialing that you need to do).

I know you all can't say anything about the MMI portion, but any feedback on the "meet the dean" portion? From what I'm reading on the interview feedback page it seems like it's almost another little group interview 😕

The same thing happened to me. You have to submit the pre-req portion specifically, so go to the pre-req page and go to the bottom. Click the submit button and you should have a checkmark next to it on your status page!

 Sometimes I can be so silly. Thanks a lot!

Any rejections yet? I have a feeling I might be the first 🙁 Secondary complete 6/29 and not a word back since.

Folks how do we know our current status in the app portal? I can't see the status except the secondary checklists..

I think the way to do it is to go over to the message center where it lists their communication with you...

How are people prepping for this interview? Just like a regular interview and try to mentally prepare yourself for unpredictableness or....? I interview next Friday. I know people can't say specifics, but is there still a 'traditional' tell me about yourself/why Davis/doctor/etc sit-down portion?

I sure hope there's very little to no stations with actors. It just feels so awkward and unrealistic to me, no matter how good the actor is. I literally feel like I am back in drama class in high school doing a skit... except with a hell of a lot more on the line

Does anybody know if Davis does silent rejections? A friend just turned in his secondary around the same time I did and got a ii. I'm wondering if I got passed up.

How long did davis take to upload LORs? It's been 9 days and my LOR status hasn't been completed. I finished everything on my secondaries but the LOR and I think I don't have to do anything because I already sent them into AMCAS. Or do i???

As long as you assigned them through AMCAS, you're fine.

Hey guys!

Long time lurker, first time poster!

I just got an interview invite and I am super excited. I am quite surprised too, as my stats are below average with pretty standard extra curricular activities. I am not URM either. I decided to post this as motivation for other students who might not have the best stats. Numbers aren't everything 🙂

I just got an interview invite and I am super excited. I am quite surprised too, as my stats are below average (below 26 MCAT, 3.6 cGPA and 3.4 sGPA) with pretty standard extra curricular activities. I would say the most notable one is teaching a course on medical ethics for 3 years at my school (UC Berkeley). I am not URM either. Thanks for your post! Good luck on your interview! 🙂

is anyone able to sign up for interviews right now? i dont see any dates (they havent posted any dates in a little while i dont think)

Congrats on the interview! Do you mind sharing when you were complete?

Anyone? I would really appreciate the feedback!

excellent news for you. congrats!!

I was complete 9/5 so fairly fast turnaround. I guess they aren't going through apps in order? I'm starting to realize how random all this is.

I think they do a really fast initial review, which is why some people get interview invites so quickly. They also definitely do silent rejections, which is super frustrating.

I'm sure they look at your entire primary, secondary application and letters of recommendation before they invite you, so I don't think its "quick" per say. The wait is killer though!

Wait how do you know for sure they do silent rejections?

I sent in my photo late 🙁

They wanted it a week before the interview even though they sent the request for it a week before (interview's this upcoming Friday, they sent the email last Friday). I didn't fully read the email until today and just sent the photo, which they confirmed receipt of. Hopefully they don't mark it against me.

I don't know for a fact, but the several friends that I know who were rejected here last year didn't hear anything until February (roughly seven months without any updates). I'm not sure if that constitutes a silent rejection, but it sure sounds like it to me.

I also only sent my picture out yesterday. But I think they realize the letter itself only went out a week before the interview. Don't stress. See you there on Friday!

Do you guys think I should even submit my secondary? I'm IS 3.73 34 Mcat, however, I'm taking ochem 2 right now (will be done in decemeber), and will not be able to take statistics until summer session (I took 1 year of calculus but not statistics :/ (maybe they will waive it 😛?))

given the lateness of my application, and the fact that I won't have statistics done by January, should I quit it? I'd like to go to Davis, a few of my friends are there for undergrad and my sister is there for undergrad as well :]

Go for it, I say. I'm interviewing there Friday and you have similar stats as me but a higher GPA. I'm also taking my last bio lab now and will have to take Biochem in the spring if I need to (I forget if its required for Davis)

Definitely apply, they do really fast reviews... my friend that applied a few weeks ago got an interview in just over a week, while my app has been complete for more than two months and I've heard nothing.

For those of us in the latter situation, have we basically been rejected?

So along with the crazy specific photo directions it says to send a pic with a neutral expression. I already had a passport pic taken with me smiling and I feel so awkward not smiling in my picture! Did you guys that sent in your pictures take another one without smiling???

(PS good luck on the interviews tomorrow!)

I sent in a photo from my wedding. Headshot, and whether I'm smiling or not is up to interpretation. Wasn't from 6 months ago tho (9 months), but the haircut is the exact same so i think it's more representative then sending in one with the wooly beard i had a month ago.

i think my biggest issue is I wont be able to take their required statistics course until the summer (I took 1 year of calculus instead :/)

still worth applying haha?

Do they require everything before matriculating? Or before applying? I'd check with admissions. Davis is an awesome school so I'd recommend applying 🙂

If they require anything before apply, then I broke the rules! Haha. Currently finishing my bio lab requirements.

Interviewed here yesterday/this morning (Friday). Awesome school. I was already in love with it from my shadowing experience there. Honestly don't know how I feel about MMI. I'd definitely say it's a less stressful interview environment than non-MMI but it becomes really easy for me to second-guess if the way I naturally handle things is what the school is looking for, whereas with a traditional interview I know that I am presenting myself well, if that makes sense.

been over two months and i have heard NADA.

Any way you think I would be able to prepare myself for the interview? This is my first interview and my top choice. Did you do the clinic tours on Saturday, if so what time did they end?

Thanks!

I didn't do the clinics (class on Saturdays). In terms of prepping, I really don't know. Just try to relax, think about the qualities you possess that you think make you a unique candidate, and remember to bring out those quality during the MMI situations.

Don't be too nervous. Not much to prep for with the MMI. At the same time, i don't have an acceptance yet so all I am is someone who's in your shoes but just a few days into the future: uncertain.

Hmm I see. Ok well thanks for the advice and I hope your interview went well!

Any feedback on the interview with the dean?

Thanks 🙂

Hey guys,

I was always confused about Davis' interview invite process. Do they only invite you if you have all the requisites done? Since most schools are okay with you finishing before you matriculate, is Davis the same? I remember it wasn't...

So you were interviewed without finishing all of your requisites? So do you think it's okay that I'm finishing my math requirement in Jan-March?

Prereqs need to be done by January.

Ah, he's right. I would say not to let it keep you from applying. I think schools make exceptions for these things sometimes if they like an applicant. Maybe I'm wrong and, if so, someone please tell me.

There are next to NO schools that require that your prereqs be done before you even apply. It's very easy to find out by simply going to their site to see that they mostly say, "required by time of matriculation." Do some research, folks!
