This is verryyyy doubtful. Especially since they screen for secondaries, allow a month for return of secondaries, and the AMCAS deadline basically just happened. Cheezusss people, relax!

Just received an interview invitation! Has anyone done the interview at UCSD? What was it like for you?

Im too lazy to go back thru the thread. But did UCSD send out rejections at all yet?

Interview!!! This school is my #1 choice. I was scared that I wouldn't get an interview this year because last year they wait listed me... Hopefully I will knock their socks off this time around!! Submitted secondary 8/21, IS, 33/3.8

does this school favor IS applicants? i saw that 90% of students reside in CA

First year here - while UCSD does favor in state applicants, our class ended up being ~75% in-state, 25% out of state. That's not traditionally what it has been in the past (90-10 or so) but it remains to be seen whether our class is an anomaly or a trend.

First acceptance! Still a little bit in shock, but I love this school and I'm absolutely thrilled. I interviewed 10/11, so it was a very quick turnaround. Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to those still waiting!

I interviewed with you on October 11th. I'm hoping they just didn't get around to me and that it's not a rejection!

I interviewed on the 11th also. They did not get to me the last time the admission committee met. Should hear soon.

Do you hear anything from UCSD before they decide whether you get a secondary?

I got my interview invite Oct 24th and scheduled for Oct 30th because of a cancellation. Got my II invite 7/25 and turned in 8/21. I'm totally stoked and this is definitely my top! I'll be the overly enthusiastic dude in the waiting room (just kidding since they may think I'm on something...CALLED LIFE!). GPA 3.4 MCAT 32N

haha I got that interview to move up my interview too. I don't have my suit or anything so I'm just going to wait til my original date. GOOD LUCK! Tell us how it goes

Yes, I heard early this morning (~7am) that I was waitlisted. I interviewed last week. Really bummed as I'm a San Diego native and this was my top choice school.

Ah I'm sorry to hear about that. I feel like that will happen to me too. Did you go to UCSD for undergrad?

And if you don't mind me asking, when did you interview?

Ahh it's killing me too! I just keep checking my email at work...

I'm dying I'm seriously just dying. I thought I was going to find out two weeks ago. Got so worked up I called, found out I wouldn't get reviewed until yesterday. Waited some more. Jesus it's killing me. Can they just tell me either way? Reject? Waitlist? Accept? Just let's have some communication people!

Oh, nvm. Obviously, I'm just delusional about the Oct 30th date...

Guys. I was at an interview last week and they said that they will review applications tonight and will let applicants know around 10PM or tomorrow.

whales- 10pm? did they say why? So there still more waiting. and more hope.

Congrats!!! You'll see us in the FB group that UCSD had started for us 😉
You should get an e-mail for the link soon =)

Nope- UCLA. I interviewed Oct 23. Nah, don't worry! I bet they sent out waitlist this morning and if you haven't heard it is probably good news! I hope you get in 🙂 good luck

Oh yay when do I get that!? So far its just boring financial aid forms and AAMC traffic rules.

Waitlisted today. What a bummer. This is the only school I really like in CA, so I guess I'll be leaving the state for med school.

I got an e-mail from a current med student a week after my acceptance with a couple of hyperlinks in it. You'll get it soon enough 🙂

Does UCSD reject people post-interview or are they all still placed in the "acceptable pool"?

If I remember correctly, you are placed either on waitlist or rejected, if not accepted right away. There is no continued pile, like at some schools.

Not sure about extent of waitlist movement.

Not sure, but my impression is that few people get rejected outright after the interview. It seems like most are either accepted or waitlisted.

I interviewed back on the 11th and was told I should hear back today at the latest. When I didn't hear back, I called Brian and he told me that one of my interviewers had been unable to attend a committee decisions meeting so they had yet to discuss my application. This might be the case for some of those of you who have not heard back yet. I suppose I'll just have to wait for the 13th to get the news. This is my top school!!!! I'm having a really tough time being patient 😛

Can't believe it! Accepted!!! UCSD has always been my dream school and so happy/honored to be given an opportunity to matriculate here. 👍

I was wait listed in the first group of applicants on the 16th. I called Brian to ask about what this meant in term of my chances of getting an acceptance. He told me that they rejected more people this year post interview than they have in the past. He said they are getting better at predicting how many spots will open up and there was really no need to string people along that will never get an acceptance.

With that said the wait list has been ~300 in past years and he predicted that it would be more like 200-240 this year. He told me that typically ~75 people on the wait list withdraw because they accept other offers. Of the people left of the list, about 20-50 get acceptance offers depending on how many people withdraw initial acceptances. Last year it was roughly 30.

If you do the math, it comes out to roughly 200 accepted / 200 wait listed / 200 rejected.

I felt like my interviewer got me out of his office fast, didn't even ask me if I had any questions. Just took a bunch of notes while I was talking. My app was right in front of him and he was flipping through it before asking a question. I know I didn't bore him since I got him laughing a couple of times. My second interviewer was just as engaged, but took her time with me. Should I worry? I'm totally worried. UCSD is my #1 choice and as of right now my only option 🙁
