Status says I've entered primary screening. :xf: 7/31 secondary submission.

Huh. Mine doesn't say that still but I talked to admissions and they told me its complete and ready to go. Weird.

submitted 7/31, status now says "We have received all application materials that you have submitted. Your application is under preliminary review. This review of your file may take 6-8 weeks. "

I guess they are pretty backed up this year

This cycle, just in general, seems to be going absurdly slow for everyone. Hang in there, guys.

I was late July as well and haven't heard from anyone but Pittsburgh yet.

Marked as in the interview pool today, they didn't email me so it might be a good idea to check in every now and then.

Yeah, they didn't email me that my application was on hold due to not having a non-science letter.

I've been submitted since the end of July. This is my status page:

I don't have a non-science LOR (2 science teachers, research mentor, physician I shadowed). Are they strict about this requirement or should I even bother applying?

You can ask for a LOR waiver. Call the office and ask about it.

If you are more than 5 years out from undergraduate they will wave the non-science. I sent an email to [email protected] stating my situation. I explained that I graduated a double digit number of years ago and I did not have a non-science letter. I have letters from employers, volunteer coordinator at the hospital, and two science letters from an A&P class that I took last school year.

This was the response that I received
Hi dsoz,

As you graduated more than 4-5 years ago, we will grant you a letter of recommendation waiver, in which case you may submit up to four letters of your choice.

Best wishes,

Interview invite this morning as well for Sept 18th.

Submitted 7/27. 3.9/36Q.

We only grant letter of recommendation waivers if a student has been out of school for 4-5 years or longer. In that case, you will still be required to submit a non-science letter from a professor with whom you took a graded class. Please bear in mind that you can still submit up to three additional letters of your choice.

Best,

Welp, guess I'm not applying here. Good luck to everyone.

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between mid-September and mid-April. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

"small pooled" today...submitted 7/31. is this a good thing? i want to know stats about how many actually gets ii's from this "pool"!!

I mean from what I understand from other schools processes with small pooling people who get invites are taken from the pool so almost everyone is pooled that gets those invites. I think a current student addressed this really well earlier on this thread too so if you can find it that might be of interest to you.

I believe you must be pooled before you receive an II, so yes it's a good thing.

Hey Guys,

I'm a student here. UVM doesn't usually send "complete" emails. Once you have submitted your secondary application via the Online Applicant Center, you are complete, as long as you have had your letters of recommendation sent to UVM.

For everyone that is waiting, I know it is tough because I was just in your position last year, but hang in there and stay positive. Take things as they go. Write letters of interest to not only UVM, but other schools as well. You'd be surprised what schools like to hear from students.

Best of luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

i emailed them and they said i could send 3 science letters cuz ive been out of school 3 yrs. this was before the secondary. do you think i should call them and just make sure that they remember? i have the "app received" status...

If you did it in an email, then they made a note for your file.

When I asked the same question, I did respond to their answer (like you want to do) and they told me that the waver was already in my file.
