Is there usually a status chance on the same day as the Adcom meeting?

no- browse this thread a bit- you'll see that it's usually a few days between the meeting and people getting the "your file has been reviewed" status. Then it's several more days before people get a waitlist status. If the pattern holds that won't happen until early next week.

Just withdrew my acceptance from UVM. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back.

When's a good time to start seriously looking into housing? When I go up for the 2nd look? I've never lived in off-campus housing before, so this is all new to me.

I think mine was also before noon. Does anyone know the difference between OOA and Vermont waitlists? I mean, in terms of ranking?

Interviewed 3/7, no status change today. 😕 does anyone have any insight into how it works? Is there a chance files weren't reviewed this week and will get pushed to the next ad com meeting?

In addition to Mondays meeting, the admissions committee also met today to review applicants. As I've mentioned to a few people, the AdCom meets more frequently at this time of year since the interview season has ended.

Those who have interviewed, but haven't yet received a status change (from the "thanks for interviewing" OAC message) should see an update in the coming weeks.

As far as WL movement...well, that's anyone's guess. It often happens in fits and spurts, so don't be dismayed if it takes a long time for acceptances to go out...and though I know it's really difficult, do your best to not get bummed out if others receive acceptances while you're still waiting. I can't stress enough that you should continue to send LOIs. Acceptances go out regularly through April & May, continuing into June and even July.

I can't say how many acceptances will be issued, but I can say with absolute confidence that it's many more than a handful (i.e. you all aren't competing for 3.14159 open slots). Good luck, and I can't wait to celebrate with you when you finally get the golden email. :xf:

P.S. To the person who asked about IS WL vs OOS WL ranking...They are separate lists, and they aren't ranked.

YES!

I just checked my portal: "We are pleased to inform you that your name has been placed on the Out-of-Area waitlist of qualified/alternate candidates."

I know it's not an acceptance, but I'm just SO relieved to be put on the WL! Someone at UVM must have a little faith in me 😀

And I interviewed last Thursday, on 4/11. Good luck everyone!!

OOS wait list as well. Does everyone get placed on this wait list?

I read somewhere (either this year or last year's thread) that ~1/4 of the people that interview will get rejected outright. So although a good amount get placed on the WL, it's not guaranteed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I asked about the ranking system - so I'm just wondering which list they go to first when they pick applicants? Is there a system here?

Thanks for answering! I know I'm over-thinking this. 😳

This might have been answered before but how many people are interviewed and how many will be offered acceptances?

MSAR said last year 600 were interviewed total. Is it the same this year?

That's a lot. Not sure how many they did but in my group there were 15. I guess multiply that by how many interview days they have.

can we expect acceptances before may? have they accepted people following the last two meetings (march and april)?

Has anyone ever got this message when logging on to the online application center:

"Oops...

If you have received this message it is probably due to a technical errror with our Online Applicant Center. Please contact the admissions office at (802) 656-2154 or [email protected] to alert us to this error so that we may restore your correct status. "

Yep, found it this morning. Went ahead and emailed them through the application center. Glad it's not a completely isolated incident...

I also have the error page. I read last year's thread and it happened back then too (May 11th), to four SDNers who were all in-state. There was one person who got accepted off the WL 4 days after noticing the error, and the three other people who had the error never got accepted (I'm assuming). Two of them were still on the WL as of last June, and the third guy just stopped posting on SDN. So..I don't think it actually means anything, unfortunately.

Mine is also showing the error message and I am OOS. If it's a system-wide error, are you all alerting them by email/calling or just leaving it alone? lol

got this response from Ms McElhinney:

Thank you for contacting our office about the error status displayed on the Online Applicant Center. We are currently working to fix the problem, and you should see a change back to a non-error status by the end of today.

maybe it will be a different (acceptance!) non-error status!? pretty please UVM

Thanks for contacting the office!

That would be awesome..but my pessimistic side says no 🙁 I just don't want to get my hopes up

I also have the same error status as well - I'm assuming it must be system-wide

Applicant center is back to normal for me. Still OOS waitlist as before.

The lists are completely separate for IS and OOS. A certain number of spots in each class are set aside for Vermont applicants (typically 30-35 slots). So to answer your question; if theoretically all spots in the class are filled and an applicant withdraws their acceptance, then in general that newly available spot will be filled by someone with the same residency status, i.e. If a Vermonter withdraws the slot will be filled by a person from the IS WL, if an OOS applicant withdraws the slot will be filled by someone from the OOS WL.

...again, that's the way it's done in general. I have no idea how they decide whether there should be 34 or 35 IS matriculants. I'm sure there are solid, time-tested methods in place...and I wouldn't waste any time or energy wondering about precisely how many IS vs OOS places exist in the Class of 2017. You'll have plenty of time in med school to stress out over unceasing waves of minute details, so try your best to relax for now. 😉

did anyone who interviewed between late feb till now get an acceptance or just waitlisted?

I feel as though you keep asking the same questions over and over again, without actually contributing anything to the discussion.

You might choose to reconsider that approach.
