Accepted off the OOS waitlist! e-mail came in @2:39 PM PST. **(What day do classes start? I just keep reading early August.)**

**EDITED: 8/6! Should probably have clicked the link in the email before asking this.

That 8/6 may be a typo of the date from last year. The school should be releasing a lot of information in the near future regarding orientation, but unless the schedule has changed, the Class of 2017 will likely be beginning on the Monday of that week, which is 8/5.

Congrats to all the recently accepted.
for those who have been accepted, how long does it take to receive your financial aid letter? Do you have to give a deposit before receiving it?

I was accepted Saturday. Looking through past UVM threads this app cycle for Vermont seems to be following the 2010-2011 cycle where acceptances got sent out sporadically after the 15th. Take this info with a massive grain of salt cause trying to predict year to year will drive you crazy. Anyway, I have my fingers crossed for everyone waiting that there is a mass acceptance day coming up like there was in last years thread.

I was accepted today!!! But I never received an email? I received a notice from another medical school saying I am holding multiple acceptances. I was confused and checked the UVM applicant center and it said I was accepted!!!

Will the email come later or?

32 MCAT, 3.95 GPA

Sent three letters of interest.

So happy!

I remember reading that some people's portals changed first before receiving the official email. Congrats!

Just checked my portal..still on the WL. C'mon UVM!!

This is the story pretty much every year. There will be several 'waves' of announcements sent out through late June, with numbers decreasing as Orientation approaches in August.

MANY of my classmates did not receive their acceptance email until mid-June. 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement NMonte82! 🙂

I just withdrew my spot on the waitlist. OOS tuition for 4 years would be too much of a burden for me. Good luck to those still waiting!

Just withdrew my spot guys, LOVED UVM but my state school is too hard to pass up. Good luck to everyone waiting!!!!!!!

Withdrew! Got accepted at a school that was way closer to home. Loved UVM and Burlington though. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for letting us know! Are you two withdrawing from the waitlist or from an acceptance?

Thank you!

How long do financial aid packages take to get sent out? I emailed the financial aid office a week ago after getting accepted, and still not a peep. FAFSA was complete in January.

It takes a while...I still don't have my financial aid package and I'm a current student.

Though if it's any consolation, I'm sure you will get your before mine arrives.

I hope there is some good news before the end of this week!

Hey guys, I just rescinded my spot on the wait list today. I got accepted into another school that I was waiting on. Good luck to all those still waiting to hear! I got my fingers crossed for you all!

I called financial aid today and the lady I spoke with indicated that they may be running behind. Typically, they said if all your paperwork is in you're suppose to receive an email with your financial aid package 24 hours after your deposit arrives...at least that is what's suppose to happen.

Just a heads up to folks in the Class of 2017 regarding the start date for classes/orientation, I just received this in my email from the COM Student Newsletter: "August 12: Class of 2017 Orientation and First Day of Classes for Class of 2016".

I'm sure you'll be receiving an official packet from the school soon, but thought this might help.

Also, for those folks still waiting. I had dinner with some of the admissions folks last night and based on figures from previous years, it is possible (not guaranteed) for another 20-30 acceptances to go out as people withdraw and make final decisions. So keep writing those letters!!!

Thanks for the update. It's much appreciated. I loved UVM when I visited and am still waiting.

+1. Trying to stay positive here, but 20-30 spots left doesn't sound like chances are that good, especially since the WL contains so many people 🙁

I wonder how many people are on the waitlist... seems like a lot of people are withdrawing from it.

20-30 sounds hopeful though? :xf:

Thanks for all the updates by the way!

The number will be variable based on how many people withdraw from spots in the class, but you should all remain hopeful. Regardless of how many people are on the WL, it just takes one seat to open up for you to get your chance. 🙂

Let me try to do some math here- This is just speculation, btw.

There were ~600 interviews. I read in a thread (forgot if it was this year or last year's) that ~25% are rejected post-interview, leaving 600 - (600*.25) = 450 applicants. I think it's safe to say they've given out at least 125 acceptances, 450 - 125 = 325 on the WL. Maybe an additional 50 people have withdrawn from the WL, 325 - 50 = 275 on the WL, and an additional 50 withdrew their acceptance so UVM accepted another 50 from the WL, 275 - 50 = 225 potentially left on the WL. If they're going to take 20-30 more people, that's like ~8% - 13% chance of getting accepted right now.

Hopefully we'll see some more WL movement soon. I called the office earlier this week and was told that the adcom is meeting on a need basis only, every couple of weeks. I was also told that people are still withdrawing their acceptances sooo :luck:

I like the way you think 🙂. I'm gonna just keep writing letters and calling, hoping that my spot opens up!

There doesn't seem to be movement at the end of this month unlike last year. hmmmmm.

Acceptances might come out over the weekend too; it's happened in the past.

Good luck all! I hope UVM shows us some love soon! :xf:

Thanks for this - I hope that your numbers are inflated though. I was thinking maybe <100 on the waitlist? Wishful thinking, I guess.

I know someone mentioned waitlisted applications are re-reviewed by the committee (NMonte maybe)... Does this count both the submitted application and the interview?

Anyways, good luck to everyone waiting. :xf: :luck:

Yeah, I hope my numbers are completely off haha. I just don't understand how they're going to pick people for the last few acceptances when there's such a huge pool to pull from. I feel like after the interview, everyone's qualifications are somewhat equally matched.

I think it was me who mentioned the adcom re-reviews WL'd files when I called the admissions office. I'm sure it means they review the file in its entirety: primary, secondary, interview, and LORs/LOIs

Good luck to you as well! 🙂

Thanks! Seems like no activity the last 2 week or so... Maybe time for another LOI?

I wonder how many LOIs I can send without it being considered excessive.

Has anyone called the office to indicate their interest?

Yeah. I've already sent 3 LOIs. I don't know what more I can say without repeating myself.

Unfortunately, I bet there has been activity. When I talked to Liz, she said that they have been sending out acceptances pretty regularly. I'm sure people have been getting accepted, they're just not on SDN or if they are, they don't post that they got in.

This wait is driving me insane....

Same...I'm getting ready to write my third post-interview letter over the weekend.

If anyone has called the office recently and has some updates, please let us know!

It was a tough decision, but I withdrew from UVM today to attend a more affordable school. OOS so I hope someone on the waitlist gets the nod. Would have loved to go here, but the cost was just too high 🙁

Good luck to everyone next year!

Withdrew from OOS waitlist yesterday. Best of luck to all.

Thanks for letting us know, guys! Good luck to you both!!

After you send a LOI admissions sends you an email saying a note has been added to your file. Does that mean the physical written letter never makes it to your file? I'm wondering if its worth the time to compose good/new sounding LOIs if all that happens is that you get another tick mark next to your name.

I called admissions today and asked if most of the WL movement happens before July. She wasn't very clear but seemed to suggest that there is definite movement in July but slightly less than in June.

When I send in a LOI, I get a response saying it's been added to my file and they've made note of my interest. I'm sure when the adcom re-reviews files, all of your LOI's are in there. There's no way they would encourage people to send letters and then NOT read them.

Admissions was open today on a Saturday? Maybe they're working overtime to send out acceptances....

::checks OAC and email:: Nothing for me....

Guess I'll just keep writing and calling! I was reading last year's thread, and the last big wave of acceptances went out in mid-June. So hopefully we get some good news soon! :luck::luck::luck:
