This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
II today! Secs submitted 10/9 and completed 10/17.

I'm a little late in the cycle (my first sec was sent out Oct 2nd...)

SOOO HAPPY TO HEAR SOME NEWS. I WAS GOING CRAZY HERE!

Edit: Okay, I got the confirmation email. Interview set for 1/28 at 2:30pm. Super pumped!

How on earth were you complete so fast??? I submitted in August and wasnt complete until October!

when does Albert Einstein start sending rejections? i was complete in august and havent heard anything

But I assume a metrocard with money on it will suffice, no?

Oh, yeah, that too. I guess I should've added that; made the assumption that a non-local would pay by cash, but that's dumb on my part ..

Quick question for anyone who has attended the Einstein interview.
I'll be interviewing very soon and I was wondering how the day is structured. The email/website is very vague. Are there multiple interviewees on the same day? Do we eat with other interviewees and hang out with them? Do we get a tour of the campus/etc? I was confused because they said the day is really relaxed and there are no formal presentations.
Also, is there anything in particular you think I should look out for during the day? Any recommendations?
Thanks a lot!

There's two sets of interviews per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with about 4-6 people each. I interviewed in the afternoon so our report time was at 11:30. When I arrived, we met up with the morning interviewers, who had already done their interviews. We then (both interview groups together) had lunch with students, followed by a tour of the school, and then our interview to close out the day. After your interview, you leave, so if you're a morning one I'd plan for about 2:30pm end time and if you're an afternoon interview then roughly 3:30 or so.

I have no idea. My committee letter was not uploaded to AMCAS until Oct 15th (took them THREE weeks to do this) so the earliest I was officially "completed" at any school was then. Got the email last Thursday around noontime. Nonetheless, I was super excited... was not expecting to hear back from ANY school for at least 3+ weeks.

If anyone is curious, my stats are cGPA 3.97, sGPA 3.95 and MCAT 33
Decent EC, volunteering, shadowing, TA for 3+ years, no research

(Einstein was the first school to send me a II. Another school called me Friday to ask if I wanted to come in for an interview Monday (tomorrow) since another candidate cancelled. So Einstein may be the last school I interview at...haha)

Has anyone sent in pre-interview update letters? Were they receptive?

Interview Invite today! Complete late July... Will be withdrawing.

What are your stats? I was complete late July as well and assumed I was dead in the water.

Has anyone done this? I'm also curious since I just had a paper published.

I sent an update email about my publications a few weeks ago.

I received an interview invite today as well 🙂

GPA>3.9, MCAT mid 30s. Hope you get my II! No way I would choose living in the Bronx, with no access to the subway over Nashville and Vandy.

Interview in a couple of days... does anyone know when final decisions post-interview come out? I know its early but I can't find it on their website.

I've heard elsewhere on SDN some complaints about 3rd and 4th year at Einstein. Does anyone know what these are/are there any current students who could chime in? I'm really excited about this school, so I'm curious.

If we interview in December (2nd week), will we also hear on January 15? Meaning, do they utilize a non-rolling admission process? I think I saw on their website that they do rolling admissions so I'm a little confused by the January 15 date... Please clarify!

Anybody else fill out that loooooooong post-interview survey that felt more like a plug for the school?

I thought it was really interesting AE asked applicants to explain Ws. I have 3 (Business Law, New Testament, and Animal Behavior) because I felt like college was a time to explore. I registered for some stuff that was way outside of my major just to see if I liked it. Sometimes I did (East Asian Religions, Islam, or African-American Detective Fiction) and sometimes I didn't (see above 3), and I had no idea it might come back to haunt me.

Just because they ask doesn't mean it's a big deal to them; RWJMS asks to explain grades lower than a B (I have several) and I received an interview invitation on the first day SDNers heard back.

I think the fact that a school asks something means it matters (otherwise it would be a waste of everyone's time), but how you answer makes it acceptable or unacceptable. I do think that if all things were equal between me and another applicant the 3 Ws could matter.

Anyway, just thinking out loud/trying to make myself feel better about my lack of an II haha.

Does anyone know when Einstein start sending out acceptance letter? My Interview was in Oct.

Does Einstein have silent rejections? I've been complete here for over 2 months and haven't heard back.

can anyone tell me roughly what dates are available for interviews? any in december or is it all in january now?

also, is Einstein receptive to in the area emails?

They were very polite in accepting mine, but nothing came of it.

where did you email that you were in the area?

anyone know roughly what interview dates are available?

I was in Philly so I just told them I would be in the Northeast for an interview. I call that in the area because its a pretty short train ride up to NYC.

My flight through United was to Newark where the second "connecting flight" was an Amtrak ride from Newark to Philly and that only takes about an hour.

I interviewed here today and I was totally blown away. This is definitely my top choice now. Excited for January!

Can you share what your day was like? Also, what specifically did you love about the school? I'm so looking forward to my interview here!

The interview day is a lot less structured than at other places. If your interview is in the morning you're welcome to sit in on an early class before your interview. They give you a tour and lunch around noon and that's about the only formal part of the day besides the interview itself. I also really enjoyed my time here. The students I met were all very happy to be there and their global health programs after the first year seem phenomenal and more accessible to students (33% of first years did one) than at other schools.

Did you have to request to sit in on the early class in the confirmation email the week before? Also by early you mean before 8? was there an afternoon option? Thanks!

Yes, there is an afternoon interview option. No, you won't be scheduled to sit in on a class if you pick this option. However, I'd imagine you could probably arrange for it if you'll be staying with a student or in the area that morning. I flew in that morning and arrived at 11am for my afternoon interview, so it wasn't a consideration for me.

They also have pretty great (and really affordable) student housing options. You get patient exposure early and pretty continuously. You see really diverse patients/cases because of the location. One guy said he shadowed on a night when 3 crazy major traumas came in - not typical but still cool. Also, I've lived in NYC for the past 4 years so I'm kind of invested in staying in the area.
