2013-2014 Columbia University Application Thread

But it's hard not to lose hope when your interviewer's initials have already been posted

Interviewers are busy people. Perhaps your particular interviewer made some calls this morning, started doing something else, and will make more calls later.

Seems like a few pages back someone said they got a call from GL...wasn't totally clear though. Besides that I haven't seen anything. Waiting on GL myself.

Who were you referring to that got a call from GL? If it was me, then I was saying I haven't heard from him yet!

a man can dream...anyone else get calls from FL since this morning?

No, it was medicalhope on page 19. In any case, seems like a lot of us are still waiting on GL. So good luck everyone!

Guys, don't panic/lose hope. It has been said that not everyone who is accepted gets a call.

So... when can we expect official decisions to be posted or e-mailed?:corny:

My interviewer called today, and she said official decisions would be out tomorrow or the next day. Since the next day is Saturday, I'd bet sometime tomorrow.

Perhaps, in the future, interviewers will be able to notify all applicants at once using a multi-dial/group talk option on their phone.
:prof:

Ahh don't worry man. When he said "GL" he meant good luck. He said earlier in the sentence that he didn't know the initials of his interviewer. We're still in the running.

To those accepted, I know there's a lot of us who are losing hope and that we're essentially domineering this thread right now, but I just wanted to say congratulations to all of you!! That is a phenomenal feat and you guys should be truly proud of yourselves 🙂

Ahhh ok makes so much more sense now. In that case, GL to you! 🙂

Please forgive such a silly question, but to those who received a phone call - did you receive them on your home phone (physical address/home address) or your cell phones? Thanks =)

Any international students hear back? Canadian applicant right here...

I haven't gotten a call from Columbia, but a different school used my cell phone number before.

To those whose interviewer already started - we just didn't get a call because Dean Nicholas himself wanted to share the good news with us! He will be calling anytime now, no doubt! 🤔🤔🤔

hahaha you know i actually thought of that like 20 min ago to try to steer myself away from getting depressed =P

If your interviewer does not have a history of making calls, does Dean Nicholas call instead? :lame:

Why is everyone using initials? It is not a crime to say who called you. Why is SDN so paranoid and neurotic?

Agreed. Can't imagine them ever revoking an acceptance because you were willing to simply speak the name of the person who interviewed you!

lol I was wondering that too, but just played along. Has anyone been called by my interviewer, JS. I mean John Schullinger haha. He was a pediatric surgeon.

Received a call from Dean Nicholas. Very excited and looking forward too studying and training with you folks.

For those that have yet to hear, I wish you the best of luck. I have my fingers crossed for you and hope your phones will be ringing shortly.

For those who asked:
- Yes, I interviewed with Dean Nicholas
- He called at 2:45 (sorry for the delay in reporting --- work obligations

Anyone interviewed with C. O-N? Don't think she makes calls based on last year's thread.....

Pre interview? Or did you interview.

Pre-interview rejection. I'm at peace with it though. I was accepted to a top 40 program very early in the application year, and I'm super-excited about matriculating there. Columbia, I'll see you in 2018 for the match ;-)
