I'm guessing they are lowering the number of outright acceptances so that they can pull from the wait list this year. Last year I know they had to over enroll their class by about 10ish people because more people accepted their admissions offer than anticipated. There was no wait list movement last year. So that's my guess why they might be shifting to fewer outright acceptances (but I'm just an applicant and my info came from the MS1 giving our tour so this may be inaccurate!).25% of 700 is 175. So they will be sending out approximately 175 offers to fill 115 spots?
I think the odds were much better last year (accepted like 235 out of 525 interviewees or something?) but this is the position we are in. Very thankful to have interviewed at Duke. Here's to hoping decisions come soon!
