5 minutes away. AlumniOut of curiosity, do you live near Irvine (driving distance)? I actually already interviewed, but I am wondering if schools choose locals for last-minute interviews.

Complete 9/18. Sent several updates over the last two monthsCare to share when you were complete ZJ Daddy?
I'm relatively close to UCI distance wise (an hour away or so) and I'm starting to wonder if I should send out a last minute update...
I have a couple of friends there and they said that it only helps. Sometimes you are in a hold and when they get updates they revaluate you. Best of luckJust fired one away; I was a month before you, so I may be hitting air here, but whatever.
Good luck to you good sir!
At our interview, Dr. Peterson (the dean of admissions) stated specifically not to send in updates unless they were very significant (verbatim "if you win the nobel prize/ qualify for the olympics), so I wouldn't recommend it. She did state to send in a short letter of interest come May if you are waitlisted. Hope this helps.
Hm. I remember reading an MdApps where the person sent in two update letters after being wait listed and got accepted - then she was told by the dean that her persistence paid off?

This is what she said this past Monday (when I interviewed). So perhaps she changed her mind since then? Or she could be praising the girl for her interest in the school and not the updates per se. Again she didn't say it wosuld hurt, but she did say the updates mattered very little at this point because they already have all the important info in your apps.
Do what you think is best, we are all at the mercy of their whims anyhow.
That was several years ago. UCI had a different dean at that time and it is possible that the policy has changed.

@Gaboon -- What are the odds of getting an II at this point?
I also got my invite 3/13I got my interview invitation on 3/13 the year I was accepted.
Does anyone have any idea what the last interview date is (is it 4/8)? And any insight on whether or not all interviews have been given out? Thanks!
Bummer. Thanks for the response!I have a feeling they're finished
I've gotten a couple good questions regarding MSTP admissions that I thought deserved to be posted in the main thread.
"Do you know which interview dates for MSTP were accepted 3/7?"
"Are all MSTP applicants ranked together after all interviews are done?"
I don't know which MSTP dates were accepted 3/7, but I can say that there is another MSTP meeting for earlier cycle applicants next week and that not all MSTP applicants have been discussed already.
Not all MSTP applicants are ranked together after all the interviews have been completed. They are admitted separately throughout the interview season.
Post-interview, MSTP applicants are voted on by the admissions committee for admission to the MD program first, and to the PhD secondarily. If the applicant is not admitted to the MD program, the application is not advanced to the PhD committee.
This may have been discussed before but does anyone know when there may be movement on the alternate list? The email I received says late spring. Does this mean past May 15? Thanks

My status still says "under review" and final decision for iis will be made by 4/1/2014. Not sure what are chances of getting ii.so are ii's done?
Same. Unless someone backs out last minute, I'd wager IIs are done! Oh well.My status still says "under review" and final decision for iis will be made by 4/1/2014. Not sure what are chances of getting ii.
Me too!Got accepted today!
2/27 for me. 🙂
Does this mean that all acceptances for 2/27 have already gone out then? 🙁 If we interviewed then and haven't received a call yet, should we assume waitlist or rejection?
Plus the last date is 4/8 (I think someone said earlier?) so it doesn't exactly give us time to make arrangements... Thankfully my work will give me the day off if I should be lucky enough to get the invite. GLI guess all of us who are still waiting for II's will hear back by tomorrow. It kinda sucks that they made us wait till the VERY last second to find out the outcome of our application.
The portal says a decision will be made by April 1st.Wait, how come you both think tomorrow would be the last day to hear back for II as opposed to other days in April?
