2013-2014 University of California - San Diego Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Maybe they got confused and accidentally entered the tuition fees for IS/OOS undergrad at UCSD

I think you're right the 11k is the old cost of JUST tuition for classes at UCs. Last year it was 14.5k. So this would be around the cost for undergrads if you don't include housing, etc.

For the secondary on the "most meaningful experiences" do we put the projected end date or just the current date for each activity?

So, I have an Interview here Tuesday, and I just realized that I didn't get the second email with the documents I am supposed to fill out and bring (or I accidentally erased it) . Can anyone tell me what sort of info I need to fill these out? I already sent them an email and was going to call tomorrow or go to the admissions office to get the documents, but I want to make sure I can get the info they are asking for.
I so appreciate the help!

I'm on the same boat! Did you sign up for an interview within a two week window of when you received an invite?

I believe there was a residency form and a non-disclosure agreement. If you're IS then the residency form looked pretty detailed.

yes, I did. I guess I'll try my best to get the documents tomorrow and fill them out. I'm glad I will be there a day early. Is your interview on tuesday as well?

Yep. Best of luck to you

II today! Right as I got signal after my plane landed haha.

Congrats! If you don't mind, care to share your complete date and whether or not you're IS?

Thanks! I was complete the last week of August, and I am IS, though not a UCSD undergrad. LM score = 70

OOS LM = 68, low gpa higher mcat, slightly non-trad, definitely non-trad experience growing up. Just got secondary invite a few days ago. Luckily I can combine a few essays from other schools very neatly into this new autobiography.

Congrats to all you with interview invites, hopefully I'll see the rest of you on the trail later on 🙂

Complete last week of August. Got an interview invite yesterday. Interviewing for the PRIME program also. They had interview slots opened for 10/24 yesterday. Decided to sign up for the interview today in hopes that more dates would be open. The only date that was open was today was one in late November =(. Is interviewing later a disadvantage here?

Reading through their FAQ they seem to pretty strongly indicate that timing has no effect on your application's outcome. Happy about this as I'm a relatively later applicant.

Any other OOSers? woop woop

For those of us interviewing for both PRIME and regular track there are only a few dates to do so (like one per month). I think that October date was one of the first ones so you're still probably early for PRIME by choosing November. I chose December and may push to January.

For those who know/have interviewed for the PRIME program, how is the interview day different?

Thank you!!! Cheered me up.

from what i understand, their regular interview season lasts until February, then they interview people on the waitlist through March. Not sure if thats changing because they switched to MMI this year

Really excited about my MSTP interview invite! Any one have any comments regarding the MD/PhD program?

Would applying to the PRIME-HEq program help our chances of admission?

I know its a dumb question. I am interested in the program, but I want to submit this secondary ASAP (like today if possible) and if I choose to apply to PRIME-HEq, it would take me another few days-one week to write up a high-quality 4800 character essay for the prompt, and I'm wondering if the benefits of applying to that program (in terms of admissions chances) would outweigh the cons of applying a few days to a week later. I am OK with not applying to the program too if that is the more prudent move in this case.

Has anyone who applied to the MAS program gotten an II?

I've been complete since end of July and haven't heard anything. 37 MCAT 3.8 GPA

anyone been put on hold or rejected post secondary? been complete since mid august and nada 🙁

They told our Mid-September group that it'll probably be the end of October before they start accepting students.

I interviewed last week, and they told us that decisions for earlier interviewees (Sept) had already been made...So I guess it's just a matter of when they're going to release these decisions. As for our group, they said we would know October 22.

Really? October 22nd?! Man that means if we interviewed in September we could hear this week... Now I'm nervous lol

yeah, me too. but my friend interviewed end of september, and they told him oct22, as well... so now i'm just confused lol.

II earlier today! Complete early September. 3.9+/35+, two gap years as teacher

I interviewed here mid-September, and the admissions committee said they would e-mail early interviewees 10/15 as to when they would receive a status update. Has anyone received word from the admissions committee?

Complete today! OOS, fingers crossed, my gpa is low but they hopefully gave me a secondary for a reason.

has anyone received any updates post-interview yet? If so, when was your interview?

According to posts earlier in the thread, they told later interview groups that they would release decisions on October 22nd, which is tomorrow. I interviewed mid September, and they told us near the end of October, so I guess that fits. Really hoping to hear back tomorrow.
