2013-2014 University of Cincinnati College of Medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My best guess is next week, since the last few years threads are about two weeks apart in respect to waitlist acceptances. But what do I know...
Yes the waiting is horrible but stay optimistic!
You can always call and see if they will budge and tell you anything...... I've already bothered them enough and I think I will leave it alone for awhile.
Best of Luck!!

I hope this is true bc as bad as waiting is, it's better than waiting and seeing other people get accepted and me sitting here with an empty inbox.

I am currently on the top tier of the waitlist and still have not heard anything. I did hear some unfortunate news today. Someone met with admissions today and the admissions staff told them that "We don't expect the waitlist to move much if at all".

Thanks for the update!
Ill choose to stay naively optimistic since information that passes thru multiple ppl tends to be over-construed a bit

When did you interview? And can you share your stats please? still waiting to hear from UC top tier too.

Are people more into group study or individual study?

Anyone like to share if they have talked to admissions lately?
Yes I did, they said the movement is very slow and they can't predict anything! The next decisions may be coming this week or early next. There seems to be very little movement anywhere!

Thanks renuka!
I think it is time to submit a new primary...

Congratulations! Good to see 3 get accepted on the same day.
See you all in August.

Congratulations guys, how exciting! Still hoping to hear something soon myself...

Glad you decided on UC akaMondo!
Maybe some ppl will be happy to know I am deferring until next year, so until then good luck to all!
Also orthogenes while going thru old posts I saw you were worried about being the only med school mom out there..... I am also a mom so you will not be alone! Maybe there is some sort of support group on campus we can join......

Awesome. 🙂

Was told I was at the very top of the MSTP wait-list today...hopefully one moves away (with his/her best interest, of course). =(

I chose UC! I liked the atmosphere, city, campus, and people better despite the "lower ranking". They have a great match list, and consistently get people to Wisconsin, which is where I want to go. See you guys in August!

Hey...does anyone have a way to get in touch with the guy who runs the FB group? I emailed his UC address to no avail. Thanks!

any chances of anymore wait list movement here?

When I called Admissions a week ago I asked if there was a cut off date for wait list movement and I was told no, they expect to make offers through the rest of the summer. But again, they also said it was moving slowly because they are making offers and then allowing 2 weeks for people to make a decision.

Huh. They gave me one week to decide.

Yeah, I don't know if they give people a week and then have an extra week in there just in case or what. Honestly, it's all speculative, but I will take whatever information they are willing to offer. At the very least there does appear to be a two week trend to when offers are made.

On a side note, for anyone else out there who was also a late applicant but made it to the wait list, I was advised to re-submit my application for 2015 just in case since my only disadvantage was when they received my information.

Good luck! for both!

Can any current students comment on what textbooks are needed in the first year? And if you found reading them necessary or if the course notes were enough to learn what you needed to know. thanks 🙂

Furthermore not an immediate concern but is there any step 1 review course that comes provided with tuition?

Books are optional. Most texts are available through the library as web-based books. Review books are more often used than text books though. Wait till you get there to make a choice on buying books.

No formal Step 1 board course is included. MD/PhD's in their PhD portion run a review course the 2nd half of M2. They do give access to a so-so q-bank, but you'll want to buy UWorld for step1 when study time comes around.

The drawing HW is a little bit recherche, I guess I'd say. But thank God we have this burden. Except my drawings suck. Other than that...

Hey guys, I have a quick question. For any OOS student who currently goes to UC and was reclassified for tuiton purposes, did it matter if your parent co-signed a place for the first year. Most of the places that I have been looking around campus seem to want it, but I am unsure whether one would still be able to get reclassified.

If possible avoid it. You can show your financial award letter from UC as a proof of your source of income to sign the lease.
