Dang so you are OOS too? I have been in pure silence since completing late August! Still says "applicant in progress"- getting frustrated.

Does UIC usually deposit the check you send in to secure your spot? I received my acceptance in early December and sent my check in shortly thereafter. Today I received the placement card so I know my spot has been secured. But I also noticed the check I sent in still hasn't been deposited. Is that normal? Should I expect them to deposit it some time before May?

Mine has been withdrawn from my account already and its marked as 'Y' in deposit received on the checklist online.
 
I posted on here each time my status changed so I would just look through my post history or something.

It now says the whole "A final decision.." thing. I got the letter yesterday.
 
I emailed a person from the Hispanic center of excellence and asked. They said it was next week because they were off first week
 
Actually he said it might be next week so there is a chance it still be tomorow. I am sorry everyone
 
O i see lol, the thing is my status just changed to pending so i guess that means they will meet tomorrow but idk
 
Yeah mine changed too but they just put our interview scores up so I hope it's tomorrow
 
Just got the background check e-mail today. Got Final Decision Made 12/20 and received the fat packet 1/13.
 
Just got the background check e-mail today. Haven't received any mail correspondence yet though. If only we lived in a technologically advanced enough time where UIC could communicate results of our nervewrecking app process faster :help:
 
Anyone receive an updated status after yesterday's ADCOM meeting? I interviewed back in October and I'm still "decision pending."
 
got the CBC email this morning (accepted 11/5) but still no campus assignment. Has anybody heard from the office about when these are going out? Seems really late compared to last year's thread...

Still nothing for me either, interviewed early December. Have you gotten any e-mails saying a decision couldn't be reached on your application, or just complete silence since the interview?

Just complete silence. I even sent an email to admissions with no reply. How about you?

I called today about this. I've been on Decision Pending for awhile and have not received any emails.
The lady said that this means they're continuing to consider us, but could not reach a decision in the previous committee meeting(s).

This pretty much means we fall into this category:
""2. "Decision Pending" (No Status Change) + "We'll keep reviewing you" Email (a few days later) = You are a good candidate, but not good enough to grant an acceptance yet. UIC will keep reviewing you at every adcom meeting. --> Go back to F.""

We're not good enough atm. Damn.

I was accepted around the same time as you and have yet to receive the site placement card, but we should get them soon. I called the office this week and was told that they were sent last Friday.
 
Updated the school sometime in mid December that I had to graduate early but haven't heard anything despite being accepted...just got my site pref card yesterday. Does this mean that I'm good and that they are cool with it?

You think they're going to rescind your acceptance because you graduated early? If so, no. They will not do that. That's silly.
 
Did anyone get rejected pre-interview? I would like to know what the pre-interview rejection timeline is like.

I have been complete since the beginning of September, IS, and not a single status change as of yet. I called just after the new year and they assured me my application was with a reviewer.
 
Anyone who got accepted in Early December (from the 11/14/13 Adcom meeting) get their site preference cards yet?
 
Congrats again to everyone who's got in! Feel free to ask any questions regarding the curriculum or rotation sites or whatever and I'll answer them the best I can. I'm sure there's others from my class and the M4 class lurking about also.

To the people still waiting to hear back, hang in there! One of my really good friends in my class got in almost at the time when the new AMCAS opened up!

I got my site placement card already and mailed it back early in december. I haven't heard back about being assigned to a campus yet.
 
Considering the adcom was this past Thursday or this Thursday coming up... May the odds be ever in your favor!!!

I. Submit Primary.

II. Wait for the email from UIC giving you your login information for the Applicant Status Check site (usually arrives within 2 weeks of submitting your primary): https://mercury.comd.uic.edu/appstat

III. Login, and check your status in the second page. [At the bottom of this post I link to a program I made that makes checking your status as easy as double clicking your mouse.]

---

A. "Application Not Complete" = Secondary not yet complete.

B. "Application in Process" = You are complete. --> Goto C.

C. "Applicant in Process" = Your file is being reviewed, 3 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Select Interview Date" = You are good enough for an interview. --> Goto D.
2. "Application in Process" = You are not good enough to grant an interview yet, but might be later on in the cycle. Check back periodically. --> Go back to B.
3. "Final Decision Made ..." = You are not good enough. --> Goto X.
D. "Select Interview Date" (A grid of dates shows up) = Call and schedule an interview date, after which "Interview Scheduled on ... " shows up. After the interview, Goto F.

F. "Decision Pending" = File pending review at the next adcom meeting (every 3rd Thursday of the month). There are 2 options from here, depending on the month:
1. Before May. --> Goto M.
2. On or After May. --> Goto N.

M. Before May, 2 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Final Decision Made ... " --> Goto S.
2. "Decision Pending" (No Status Change) + "We'll keep reviewing you" Email (a few days later) = You are a good candidate, but not good enough to grant an acceptance yet. UIC will keep reviewing you at every adcom meeting. --> Go back to F.

N. On or After May, 2 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Final Decision Made ... " You are (very likely) rejected. --> Goto X.
2. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. --> Goto Y.

S. There are 2 additional conditions from here:
1. There is an "Additional Correspondences" Tab in the upper-right corner on your status page AND you get a CBC Email (a few days later) = You are (very likely) accepted. --> Goto Z.
2. There is no "Additional Correspondences" Tab and/or you don't get the CBC Email = Rejection. [Note: This is tricky. The CBC email usually comes a few days after (1-4 is the consensus) the status change. Be patient. Sometimes, the email never comes, which might be because you already had a CBC done due to an acceptance at another school. In some instances, the CBC Email even comes after the snail-mail. If after a week, neither the tab nor the CBC email shows up, it's very likely a rejection. You've probably already received snail-mail by now alerting you to it.] --> Goto X.

X. "Final Decision Made ..." = Rejection ... Wait for a "Thin Letter" via snail-mail.

Y. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. ... The CBC Email no longer acts as an indicator of an acceptance. If you get accepted off of the waitlist, then Goto Z, else Goto X.

Z. "Final Decision Made ..." + "Additional Correspondences" Tab + CBC Email = (very likely) Acceptance ... Wait for a "Fat Packet" via snail-mail. [Note: Sometimes CBC emails come after the packet. CBC emails also might never arrive if you got an acceptance to another school that also does CBC through AMCAS.]

I want to add last year there was ONE person (as far as i know the ONLY person) who got the "Additional Correspondences" Tab and was rejected.
 
Do you guys think the admissions office would accept scans that I filled out? It's the only way I could do it since they were mailed to my permanent address. :/

Has anyone who interviewed in mid-December seen any status updates? Mine changed to "Decision Pending" last Thursday but hasn't updated since then.
 
Hey guys,

Can anyone comment on whether you have received an UIUC MSP (Medical Scholars Program/ MD/PhD) interview invitation yet? One of the emails said that the invitations would start going out in early January, so I'm wondering if I already missed the mark as I had my stuff submitted back in late September/early October.
 
Still haven't received the response to my site placement preference. I think I sent it like mid December

+1...I thought they said they would get back to us in 2 weeks but it feels like it's been forever
 
For those whom were accepted, when did u find out your acceptance? Was it end of the month or beginning of the following month?
 
Can anyone shed light onto how the placement process works? Is it 1st come 1st serve so that most all early accepted students get into Chicago?

Also if I sent in my placement card last week, about how long will it take me to hear back and how likely am I to get into chicago at this point? Otherwise I would want to cancel my interview at another chicago school in about 3 weeks

Did you also see a comment saying a final decision was made and you will receive the correspondence in mail in 2 weeks before you saw the calendar grid? I just saw that in my status page and I think it means I got rejected. Thanks!

I think it depends on what school you applied for the PhD. I got an invite this week if that helps!

Thanks for your response! Are you considering the neurosci dept? That's the one that I stressed on my app. Still no word :/

I am not, more or less microbiology & immunology. I believe that is a completely separate program from which I applied so I would not stress about it yet. From my understanding it's the PhD program that dictates the day of the actual interview and the MSP gets a time block to interview within that day, so your interview invite/schedule could be completely different.
 
Aarcc when did you interview? I interviewed 1/15 in Rockford and mine still says decision pending :/
